A Mid-Week Break

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away," they said.  If only!

Does that mean everyone would be hoarding apples--if they could find them???

(painting by Lianne Sterk-van der Plaat in our Gorcums Museum, NL, back in January)

A beautiful, colorful still life painting that looks so realistic! A great find! Surprisingly, apples have been hoarded here.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Steven. Apples have been hoarded there? OMG. What are we coming to!

What a beautiful still life! That would jazz up any kitchen!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it would, Bonnie. We actually know Lianne. She'd be happy to know that.
Apples seem to be the one thing we can find! What a beautiful painting - photographed well!
Ginnie Hart: Even if they don't keep the doctor away, we need to still eat them, Elizabeth, so let's hope people don't start hoarding them! Thanks.
Jolies couleurs chaudes pour ce tableau.
Ginnie Hart: I thought so, too, Martine. Merci.

Anyone for a second helping?
Ginnie Hart: After everyone gets one helping, Ray, we can then offer the second helping. We're down to our last 10 rolls of TP and are thankful we have them.

This is beautiful, Ginnie. And to know that we have an original "Lianne" at home. Lianne has a gift.
If it were that simple, I would eat apple until I became an apple....
This is is the link to Lianne's work https://liannesterk.exto.nl/kunstwerken.html#.Xnr3WYhKhPY
Ginnie Hart: I love that we have one of her paintings hanging in our home, Astrid. She is FABULOUS. I always have my favorites, too, whenever I see her work in exhibition.
Superb! beautiful painting under superb light. I love it!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Marie.

A nice study in red Ginnie. I think we're ok for apples here in the UK at the moment
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chris. I think we're okay, too, but perish the thought that some of our favorite foods will no longer be available.

What a very pleasing painting, Ginnie. I wonder if we will start posting foodie things, perhaps longing for things we may not be able to get easily
Ginnie Hart: I wonder, too, Lisl. Will we find fewer and fewer foods available that we take for granted?

Oh wow! My first thought was that it was a photography. What fantastic skills she has; love the colours and the highlights she has portrayed.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed, Alan. Some painters have such incredible realism in their painting.
I like a good apple. The last time we went to the supermarket there were apples, and in fact also fresh veg. But even that seems to have been stripped bare now. Still we have enough to last us a while and I may brave a visit to Aldi next week gringrin
Ginnie Hart: God have mercy on us all, Bill. It really IS a war!
Magnifique nature morte
Ginnie Hart: She's a perfectionist when it comes to still life like this, Claudine.

This is a wonderful stilleven!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it is, Philine. Lianne is known here for her precise work like this.

I think the containers are for storing tea Ginnie, I seem to recognise them from where we used to buy our tea and coffee in Bath.
Ginnie Hart: You may be right, Chad, but then you know more than I do!
Wat een mooi passend schilderij en mijn oma had die bussen smile
Blijf samen gezond met of zonder appel.
Ginnie Hart: I guess we all can relate, Marjolein, but when the memories come back from years ago, that's very special. Bedankt.
Jolie cette nature morte, et... mangeons des pommes !
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Pascale. Let's use this time to get healthy!
My son shopped for me yesterday so fresh fruit and vegetables fill my home again. There are plenty of apples here.
Ginnie Hart: YAY for sons and YAY for plenty of fruit, Care!
Don't buy fresh ones.
Get tinned fruit so they can last longer, seriously listen to me.

I bought at least 10 tins of pineapples. No, they don't make tinned apples, I am afraid. So pineapples are the closest substitute that I could get by. Good luck, G! wink
Ginnie Hart: You sound like my dad, LC, who (with 8 kids) learned how to buy tins and jars of all kind of fruits and veggies when I was growing up, especially if he found them on sale. Memories!
What a lovely still life.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed, Brian.

prachtige warme kleuren in dit mooie stilleven Ginnie

prettige dag en blijf gezond
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Willy. Life is pretty "still" these days, isn't it!
A beautiful artwork, Ginnie! If only it were that simple to stay well smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin, and I know. If only!
Good question! What a lovely still life image. Friendship
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ruthie.
it's a beautiful painting Ginnie... framed well... i think that they were about to make some apple cider....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: I always wonder what the artist is thinking when I see something like this, Peter. I bet she has lots of memories from days gone by.

such a tranquil scene
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Sherri. Exactly what we all need right now!
Fine painting... though I gotta say the perspective looks strange in the middle object...?
Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, Larry, Lianne knows exactly what she's doing when it comes to perspective. So when I first had the same impression as you, I wondered what was going on...until I realized that that object is the top to the can, at which point it becomes CLEAR in perspective. See if that helps you.
My apple hoard is right next to my toilet paper hoard.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! Good for you, Ryan. We finally found TP yesterday and so are breathing a bit easier now. But we only bought one pack, lest we're accused of hoarding. smile
this painter has demonstrated a good grasp of light and shadow, Ginnie. how about some garlic... will keep everyone away!
Ginnie Hart: We know this painter, Ayush, and really like her work. My daughter told me the other day that there's an elixir that's being touted right now (in Atlanta) made of onions and garlic...both of which are running out in there stores. Who would have thought!
