photoblog image Over the Rainbow

Over the Rainbow

This is taken from the living room window of our attic apartment in Hannover, Germany, where we live half of the year.

Last May, Donica and I were playing cards after dinner when, suddenly, she exclaimed, "Look at the rainbow!"

I grabbed my camera and this is what I got.  It wasn't until I transferred the pic that I saw the reflections in the window.  We got 2 rainbows for the price of one!

My dad's side of the family is from Germany, Heidelberg and other places in that area.

Lovely rainbow. REally nicely captured.

It seems I've been seeing a lot more rainbows this year than ever before.
Ginnie Hart: Hmmm. Interesting thought, Laurie, about more rainbows this year because I wonder if global warming is effecting that. More rain, more rainbows?

Heidelberg is an incredible city! Donica's mom lived there for 5 years and we had the chance to visit it a few years back. Have you been there, I wonder?

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your lovely comment.
Ginnie well captured. It is beautiful.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Sarthak!

6 months here, 6 there. That will be either unsettling or an adventure, depending how you look at it.

Nice rainbow shot. You know when i looked at the reflection i was thinking how one can play around with that reflection and the building opposite. If could get the right angle.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Louis, it's more like 2 weeks in a row almost every month. Sometimes the way it works is a month gets skipped but it ends up being about 50% of the year over-all. Sometimes Donica will go over for only a week or less, at which time I'll stay home. I only go with her when it's more than a week at a time. And I love it!

I know what you mean about the angle on this. If I moved more to the left of the pic, the roof would be in the way. But I wanted to get the church steeple in the shot. Thanks for your comment.

I really like the windows, chimneys and roof across the street. They add so much to this photo.
Ginnie Hart: At sunset, Ruth, these tile roofs in Germany are gorgeous in color. Thanks for your comment. I love seeing the church steeple from our living room!

I love the colours in this shot, I get the feeling of the sun breaking through.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, yes, DW. It's that magical time of the day!

good anlge.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for stopping by, Chantal.
Beautiful, Ginnie. Love it in this large format.
I like the way the window forms the bottom of the pic. Gives a sculptural effect.
Ginnie Hart: Some of these pics you have seen before, Josie, but like you said, they're so much better in their larger format. I feel the same way about your pics. As always, thanks for commenting.
very nice shot indeed Ginnie, rainbows are not the easiest thing to photograph, but you have done it with aplomb. Congratulations. Kindest regards, Neil.
Ginnie Hart: You're so kind, Neil. Thanks a million!

Lovely Ginnie, I like the reflections smile
Ginnie Hart: Awww. Thanks, Chris.
nice shot with an interesting composition - the rainbow, the reflections and the colors.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks to you, too, Dotun.
