Speaking of Antoni Gaudí

Some of you are as crazy about Antoni Gaudí as I am and you'll immediately recognize this hand/foot!
This is a detail from his multi-colored mosaic dragon fountain at the main entrance to Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain.

[Today I'm flying home to Atlanta till January 10.]

Oh! Ginnie, I see that you have fallen in love with Gaudí and its work! Magnificent detail of the dragoon!
Ginnie Hart: I have been in love with Gaudí for a long time, José-Angel. One of our favorite art books is of all his works. What a genius! A man before his time! You can be proud of him!!! Thanks.

Thank you for introducing me to Gaudi. Now I'm going to go and take a look at more of his work.

But before I go, I have to say that I love this dragon's foot. The light shines in different angles!
Ginnie Hart: His work is absolutely incredible, Kay. If you saw all of it, you'd be in total awe. I'll have to show more of it later because I forget that some people don't know him. Thanks.
Love it, Ginnie! Fantastic, crisp detail. I love the fact that Barcelona seems to shout about its art - nothing is stuffy or inaccessible. (:o)
Ginnie Hart: Barcelona DOES shout out about its art, Roz. You are so right. I like that thought. Thanks.

awesome image. It looks like a monster coming out of the ground and grabbing onto a wall. Antoni Gaudí was a genius.
Ginnie Hart: He definitely was a genius, Kanyi! A man before his time! Thanks.

Stunning detail Ginnie, I would add; 'hang on to it' why, I don't know, but I love the details, colours, it is almost as a handshake, do I make sense, no, it is too early tongue
Ginnie Hart: HA! Too early, indeed. But "hang on to it" is very apt, Astrid. This man was a genius, so I definitely "hang on" to him on many levels. Thank you.

Is that the salamander on the stair case? I loved Barcelona. I never really cared for Gaudi until I visited Barcelona. Did you visit the Sagrada Familia?
Ginnie Hart: Yes, John, the salamander or "dragon" as it is called by others. I just thought it was a lizard. smile Thank
Thanks Ginnie for this colourful image of a crazy architecture... and thanks for leaving a comment before going home... smile
Ginnie Hart: As always, Flo, you are so welcome. My pleasure. smile Thanks.

What a big hand !!! I didn't see that when I went to Barcelona. I have to go back !!! I really enjoyed Gaudi buildings ...
Nice photo, and insolite choice with only the dragon's hand ...
Ginnie Hart: It's hard to figure out an image that isn't the same ol' touristy stuff, Ann, so thank you for your support. I've been to Barcelona 3 times now and would go back in a New York minute. It would take a long time to see everything! Thank you.

Well delivered section of a masterpiece ..
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Shakara. Thanks.
Have a nice flight today and a safe arrival!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Wim. I'm home safe-n-sound and now it's Donica's turn. I'll go pick her up at the airport this afternoon!
So glad that you've brought us Gaudi. It's like you do the traveling so I don't have to like in my Island Walk I do the walking so you don't have to.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Very well-put, Mary. That's a deal! However, I would definitely like to see PEI for myself!!! With my OWN eyes (not that yours aren't good enough, mind you!). smile Thanks.

I love the fact that you concentrated on the one detail only. Have a safe flight! and see you in January. Do you know how many mosiac stone it consists off?
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Scarlet. I haven't a clue about how many mosaic stones this piece entails. Then when you look at the entire park and everything else he has done, I'm guessing we're into the gazillions of pieces!

I've always marveled at the way mosaics are pieced together...the sum of the whole is most assuredly great than the parts. And the colors are brilliant! Nicely represented, Ginnie.

Have a good flight home. I'll be heading that way soon too.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for the flight wishes, Kathryn, and I wish the same for you. It was a good, "normal" flight.

And you're very right about the whole being greater than the sum of all its parts. That's what's so amazing about his work!

Great shot, Ginnie. I like your concentrating at the macro detail in this image.
Ginnie Hart: It's hard to be creative about these touristy spots, Ray, so thank you for your kind words!

nice art work, I miss the bright colors though
Ginnie Hart: I think green is one of my favorite colors, Chantal, so this was an easy choice for me. smile Next photo I hope you'll see enough color? smile Thanks.
As you know Ginnie I'm a bit of a Gaudi fan so yes I do recognise this.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, I know that about you, Bernie! Thank you kindly. smile

This is a good idea for a sculpture and a better one for a photo. The (friendly) monsters are climbing out of the swamp!

Ginnie Hart: Thank you most kindly, Gale, on both counts. It was indeed a safe trip home.
Sorry but bored bored bored smile
Ginnie Hart: Oh dear me! No one wants to bore Suby!!!! sad I guess when you get to the stage of naked Nymphs in the woods, everything else WOULD seem boring. grin
I only "discovered" Gaudi recently when his name cropped up and my daughter filled me in! Nice detail close up. Have a good trip back to Atlanta.
Ginnie Hart: He is one artist I can't get enough of, Bill. Glad you've been introduced to him!

And thank you kindly...I had a safe and good flight home yeasterday. This afternoon I go and pick up Donica at the airport!
Very nice.. I am getting big brother felling.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Someone is watching you, Gishan! smile Thanks.

Reminds me somewhat of the statues you blogged from in Atlanta.Trust you had a great flight again.
Ginnie Hart: Good memory, Louis! Those were from Niki de Saint Phalle who was very much affected by Gaudí's work and incorporated much of his creativity into her own work. Thanks for remembering!

And yes, I had a good, "normal" flight. Thank you kindly.

You know, I thought from the thumbnail that this'd be a lizard of some sort, so this is a surprise. Lovely detail and in interesting composition smile
Ginnie Hart: I always called this piece a lizard, Ellie, so you and I are on the same page. It looks like a lizard to me, every time I see it. Thanks.

I did not know Antoni Gaudi till HAVE to go look further at his work! Thanks for the introduction!
Ginnie Hart: You would be enthralled by all he did in his lifetime, Helen. It boggles the mind. I hope you can go see it sometime. Thanks.
When we went there I spent hours in this park !
Ginnie Hart: So did we, Zeb. I can understand why! I like knowing we've seen the same place!! Thanks.
When I first saw this I immediately thought of the Gollum in the Lord of the Rings, don't know why thought, well caught Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Good, creative mind you have there, Les, that's why! I can definitely see Gollum in this image! Thanks for that thought. smile
