Pre-photography arts were impressive...
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Ray...especially in Italy.
i like what your eye spotted, Ginnie. the dome shaped head is indeed asking to be rubbed.
Ginnie Hart: Thank, Ayush. Someone could come up with a fun coffee-table book on such rubbing spots all over the world, I'm sure.

Splendid clarity, color and light captured here! Makes a great door knob, too. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thankyou, Steven. It's fun, isn't it.
What a beautiful composition, Ginnie!! Love this!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Elizabeth.
Que de beautés dans cette ville ! J'adore.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. Indeed so.
Wow, great colour, and 3D effect you captured here Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Frank. It is one of those doors chock full of details!

What a wonderful detail you caught of the door, Ginnie. LOL @ Ayush... maybe this man lost all his hair because of the rubbing grin...
Love it with the black trimming around it.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Astrid. There was so much detail on that door but the gated bars in front of it made it difficult to photograph.

Ginnie Hart: Maybe, Chris. Worth having a try it it, then?! smile

Oh yes, I need some rubbing ... - a wonderfully golden image, you are on a simialar page like Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: It was fun when Astrid and I both saw what we did today, Philine, not knowing ahead of time. smile Bedankt.
Magnifique tout simplement.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine.
Ce qui me semble être une porte est vraiment très joliment travaillé.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: It's just one detail of such a beautiful, complex door, Pascale. Merci.
A wonderful detail that it would be hard to resist patting!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Bill. Thanks.

The Baptistry doors in Florence are famous the world over as an example of early renaissance art. They took an age to make, as you can imagine Ginnie, and I believe the image you show is of the artist, Ghiberti.
Ginnie Hart: I believe you're right about the artist represented here, Chad, though I had forgotten that. I love that you know so much about this place!

Perhaps the figure had a full head of head when first made. Over the years, rubbing by the visitors have made him bald smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHA! I really like that interpretation, Alan. smile
why do i find that the gates of paradise has an east entrance to be amusing lol and who's that dude? st peter?
well, it's a lovely picture, i love the way you framed it! xox
Ginnie Hart: I believe the dude is actually the artist, Ghiberti, who designed the doors, Elaine. He left his mark!
Wonderful workmanship Ginnie! Great composition too smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

I think that rubbing made him bald Ginnie ...

a beautifull composition..

have a nice day
Ginnie Hart: Yes, I'm sure of it, Willy. smile Bedankt.
A fine composition Ginnie, I guess it's one of those things everybody wants to rub like the Juliet statue in Verona, Maureen and I deferred from doing so when we saw it back in 2003.
Ginnie Hart: I suppose a woman's breast is different than a man's bald head, Brian??? grin

So they have "rub a guy's bald head" day there in Florence. I think I like Astrid's golden object more than yours grin
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA. Of course, Louis! smile
Very ornate and lovely details. Friendship
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ruthie.
Ah, yes - a wonderful door!
Ginnie Hart: From someone who has probably seen it more than once! smile
Where is his belly?
I prefer to rub his belly.

Let me guess.
St Patrick? Ha ha...
See those clovers beneath him.
Ginnie Hart: Nobelly to be seen anywhere, LC, so not an option this time. HA! My understanding is it's the artist Ghiberti himself, the one who designed the doors.
