Boat Friday

Breathe in; breathe out!

(the Urquhart Castle beside Loch Ness, Scotland, 2005)

Continuing on with photos from years ago, seeing what I can do with them,

this time with a Sony DSC-P150.

Beautiful aerial view that you've captured here! The people really help establish the great sense of scale.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Steven. Though this castle is mostly in ruins, you still get the feel of its one-time grandeur.
Magnifique paysage, quelle vue !
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. Another beautiful day!
Whatever you did or didn't do with it - it turned out just gorgeous, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thankyou, Elizabeth. Just a bit of tweaking...but the gorgeous day helped!

Now we sit here and enjoy the view and wait for "Nessie" to be fed smile...
This is absolute fabulous, Ginnie. What a place to be.
Ginnie Hart: LOL, Astrid. I must say that I DID look for her. smile Bedankt.

Beautifully tailored-lawns. I bet it didn't look like that in its heyday
Ginnie Hart: I'm sure you're right, Lisl!

I've stood in virtually the same spot! What a grand spot for the castle with the view both ways along the loch. In May this year, I was due to have a night in a B&B around half a mile from here but then BA changed my flight times and so I would have to leave there at around 4.15am! I'm now staying closer to Inverness airport.
Ginnie Hart: I thought about you when I posted this, Alan, assuming you have been here maybe even more than once!
Although Urquhart Castel is in ruins, it has an extraordinary location on the edge of Loch Ness and the chateaux of Scotland are all more beautiful than the others. Thank you Ginnie for taking me back a few years back. I often went to Scotland and last time in 2010 but I have not seen Urquhart Castel since I think 2005
Ginnie Hart: Well, Marie...just think! Maybe you and I were there at the same time??!! smile

Very attractive and very peaceful Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Chris!
Beaucoup de difficultés a arriver sur la plateforme ce matin.
Très joli ce paysage en plongé avec les vestige de ce château.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: So sorry you had problems with this site today, Pascale. (sigh) But thanks for trying. Merci.
Incroyable prise de vue !
Bravo
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine. It's hard to believe this was 14 years ago for me.
We went on a boat trip on Loch Ness years ago but didn't see the monster

Lovely picture Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bill. I think everyone is still looking! smile

Super photo Ginnie. I visited here in the 1980s, this was a favourite castle of mine.
Ginnie Hart: It's hard to forget it, Chad, isn't it. I feel a certain kinship with it since my name is buried in it. smile
I can imagine the highlanders living in these castles many years ago! it's beautiful
Ginnie Hart: It takes your breath away, Elaine!

belle vue
JP
Ginnie Hart: Merci, JP.
Might as well have been a Fort Friday, eh Ginnie? smile
The boat looks tiny from here, but I'm sure it was huge...
Ginnie Hart: Good point, Sudipto. To be honest, I probably never even saw the boat when I took the picture 14 years ago!

The beauty of the place is in the fact, that the missus and I are planning to go there. Probably the end of the year on a canal boat rental experience.
Ginnie Hart: OMG, Louis. YAY for you and the missus!!! smile
I've been past it both on a boat and the road but never had the chance to stop for a while.
Ginnie Hart: We even got to walk all around the ruins, in and out, Brian. I'll never forget it!
Nice overview of an interesting looking site.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mary. You'd love it.

Ginnie Hart: HA! I think we're all missing the monster, Willy. smile
Oh, wat een schitterend zicht op dit oude kasteel
Ginnie Hart: It's like a fairy tale to see it with your own eyes, Marjolein. Bedankt.
i like your viewpoint which shows several layers in this image, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ayush. It does almost have a 3-D effect.
