photoblog image Boat Friday

Boat Friday

Happy light-shipping to you throughout the weekend.

(near Stockholm, Sweden, 2006)

Bill gave me the idea to go back to old photos I've done nothing with all these years.

This is from a Scandinavian Cruise I took with Donica in my past life,

using my old Canon Powershot S3 IS camera.

I believe I could handle living here...
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling most of us could, Ray! smile
A lovely scene... And what a great focal point in that red boat!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. I think that may have been the first lightship I ever saw.
What a nice scene, Ginnie. The lightship is an interesting shape.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Frank. Lightships of any shape totally mesmerize me. I think this was the first one I had ever seen.

I always love to see lighthouses on ships. What a great beacon that will make at sea, Ginnie. Beautiful scene with the trees and the houses.
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Astrid. I had forgotten about this lightship, probably the first one I ever saw.

I love the softness and calm that emanates from this photo.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Marie. I suppose there are many in wintry blasts right now who could use this balm for their eyes!

What for wonderful trees - the ship- lighthouse- scene looks like a toy scene. Biskopsuden is an elegant yacht harbour.
Ginnie Hart: It's fun to read more about this elegant yacht harbor now, Philine, after all these years. What a memory.

I was immediately drawn to the house; I think I could cope with that. I would not want too many rubberneckers visiting he lightship and then gawping into my garden, though smile
Ginnie Hart: Or all the cruise ships passing by, Alan! Indeed!
Un decor de reve , surement une belle croisière !
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine. While I never intend to go on a BIG cruise ship like that again, I do have happy memories of what I saw.
Oh qu'elle est jolie cette photo, j'adore l'ambiance qui s'en dégage.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Pascale. It's easy to see why so many see Scandinavia as an idyllic place to live.

This is a really interesting picture Ginnie. I can't make head nor tail of it really!
Ginnie Hart: Just picture me standing high up on a HUGE cruise ship, Chris, to see my vantage point (something I never expect to do again!).
Looks like the lightship has a new job now as a restaurant or some such Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: I do think you're right, Bill. Maybe a "centerpiece" of that marina/bay!

Jolie prise
JP
Ginnie Hart: Merci, JP.
that's a neat stone 'dock'... that's something i have never seen elsewhere! very pretty picture, sis!
Ginnie Hart: It's fun to see it again now, Elaine...my first ever lightship. Thanks.
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Marjolein. It's a real beauty, inderdaad.

Looks to be a fancy house there under the trees. Quite a picturesque setting. I can imagine having my coffee and Joden-koek in that house, with a view towards the lightship.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed, Louis. Watching all the cruise ships go by!

What a splendid view captured here along the shoreline! I love how that house is nestled in the landscape. Makes me yearn for Spring with the refreshing greens. I had to do a double take of that boat. smile
Ginnie Hart: It is, indeed, a splendid view, Steven, which I wouldn't mins seeing again (though probably not from a huge cruise ship). I have seen only two lightships in my life, I believe, this one being my first. I'll never forget it.
WHat a beautiful scene. I love ow the red complements the greens
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ruthie.
What a sweet boat! It would make a good houseboat, eh?
Ginnie Hart: I imagine so, Mary!
A most unusual lightship, but a very nice mansion on the shore.
Ginnie Hart: Both and! I like how both can be in the same view, Brian. smile
You must have seen some very picturesque scenes from the deck of your cruise ship, Ginnie. This one is a beauty.
Ginnie Hart: Absolutely, Beverly. It's hard to forget it! Thanks.

what a wonderful vantage point you had to capture such a beautiful place
Ginnie Hart: I don't ever expect to be on a HUGE cruise ship like that again, Sherri, but it was quite exciting when it happened.

prachtig in deze groene omgeving Ginnie

prettig weekend gewenst
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Willy. It was a good time of the year to be there!
So what do you call this thing?
A lightboat? wink

Off to Malaysia for a month, G.
Do come around to my site if you're free. Tea's on me. wink
See you in March.
Ginnie Hart: Off-n-running again, LC? I'd love to have a cuppa tea with you one day. smile

No here's a country I could return to...been several times and would love to explore more! Gorgeous!
Ginnie Hart: It's easy to see why Scandinavia is one of the most loved parts of our world, Robin!
it does have a Swedish feel with the pastel yellow walls, Ginnie. and it is always good to look back images from a decade or so ago.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ayush. I'm actually making a photo book for my two children and want to make sure I include some of the old photos that I've forgotten about.
