The Little Buggers

The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing....
A miniature orange kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight.

Delightful collage. Love the little poem, it makes me smile smile
Ginnie Hart: I had no clue there were so many different colors and patterns! Who would have known, especially all in one place at the same time! Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. I had no clue there were so many different colors and patterns, especially all on the same bush! I was like a little kid in the candy store. smile

Pretty little things: sometimes he get lots of them if the summer is hot. Ha!
Ginnie Hart: It must not be the heat here, Chris, since we don't really have such a thing. It was cool that day and very windy. Maybe it was the pretty bush they were on? But they sure did surprise me...so many different colors and patterns. I had no clue there were so many!
amazing shots!! and wow the lady bugs are even different over there lol that's funny
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elaine. Different ones indeed...ones I've never seen before! I was totally amazed...and all on the same bush. I wonder if they inter-breed? smile

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Jacquelyn. They sure did surprise me...all on the same bush. Who would have known there were so many different colors and patterns!

Yes, "a tiny dot-to-dot delight" - the yellow dotted and black- dotted ( rarely seen) ones as well as the red- dotted ones - I live together with big families of ladybugs/Marienkäferchen here in my apartment -you know the sweet Dutch word for sure? I like your collage very much!
Ginnie Hart: How could anyone not love a ladybug, Philine, right?! smile Bedankt.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Funny how most people like ladybirds but shudder at the sight of any other beetle! Great set of pictures Ginnie

That's a wonderful collection of bugs.
Ginnie Hart: Nothing quite like a fully-accessorized Lady, Shooter. smile Thanks.
These ladybirds are actually very prolific.
Yeah, like the bees.
No wonder we have this saying, the birds and the bees.
It's birdie, not bugger. wink
Ginnie Hart: I love how the Americans call them bugs and the Brits call them birds. grin And so it is.

What a gorgeous collection!! You must have stumbled across a nest??? I always consider them 'lucky'...and look at those colors. WOW!
Ginnie Hart: We visited some nearby friends a couple of weeks ago, Marcie, who have a huge yard and garden. I was minding my own business, taking pictures of everything with my macro lens...when I found this one bush where all these ladybugs seemed congregated. I had no clue they came in so many different colors and patterns! Yes, I felt very lucky! Thank you.
Harlequin bugs, my researches tell me - apparently the same species, in spite of the different appearance! And another US import to Europe.
Ginnie Hart: i just did a Google image search, Tom, and am puzzled. I see the similarity but wonder: https://www.google.com/search?q=harlequin+bugs&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=IS8iUKXCMqmr0QXGz4DQCw&sqi=2&ved=0CFwQ_AUoAQ&biw=1680&bih=911

What a lovely collection; I've never sen colours on a ladybird like this before. I thought that ladybirds were a gardener's friend?
Ginnie Hart: It was new fo+r me, too, Alan, so we're surprised together. I do believe they ARE a gardener's friend, but I don't really know for sure.

To think bugs can de-bug your garden plants.
Ginnie Hart: Well, I guess they do have their down side. sad

Klein, klein kevertje
met je rode jas
En je zwarte stippeltjes
Wat zoek je in het gras?

Klein, klein kevertje
Luister wat is zeg,
Ik wil al je stippeltjes tellen
waarom vlieg je nu toch weg?

Ginnie Hart: I thought so, too, Robin. smile Thanks.
A nice illustration of diversity. Off to the Olympic Stadium on Friday, the games have also been a successful exercise in diversity.
