School Spirit

My post today at Vision and Verb is about school rivalries.

More specifically, about ARCH RIVALRIES.

Guess where I went to university!

GO BLUE!

Are these grizzlies, Ginnie? I don't know why but I always expected them to look a little different!

Is rivalry something like competitive spirit but a little over-stimulated?
Ginnie Hart: One does look like a grizzly, Ray...certainly not a Wolverine. And yes, I'm sure rivalry is totally over-stimulation!!! smile Thanks.
I like it Ginnie.... do you get to watch the Spartan's colledge football at home...Go Blue MSU!!!smile....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: OMG! To put Go Blue and MSU together in the same phrase is exactly the kind of arch rivalry I'm talking about, Peter. UGH.
Ho yes, they are adorable your crognongnons Ginnie, make them of kisses for me, and the softest will be for you, good day...
Ginnie Hart: No arch rivalry with you, Pierrot. smile Merci.

I took the photo of Michael Logan a little over a month ago. He was one of the most impressive people I've photographed for the project. I'll always remember what he said and the emotion he brought.
Ginnie Hart: I bet, Paule. Thanks for sharing that.

Great picture and those 'dangerous bears' are kind of familiar to me grin
In the Netherlands we are not familiar with school rivalries like in the USA.
We do have soccer teams thought that have an enormous rivalry, Ajax-Feyenoord (Amsterdam-Rotterdam) grown-ups have real battles in meadows over 'some 11 guys running behind a ball'...
Ginnie Hart: I could have titled this Team Spirit, of course, which would have included your soccer analogy. At least you know what I mean! smile Bedankt.

A lovely bright fun picture in its own right
Ginnie Hart: So innocent, Lisl, right??? smile Thanks.
A tender way to support his favorite club! Bears are finally mythical animals! It would be interesting to go back in time to find the source of this infatuation! For the bear!!
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Mathilde. Bears are so...cuddly! smile Merci.

Oh, erg schattige beertjes, en zo lief en harmonisch bij elkaar zittend as if they could not spoil any water/als ob sie kein Wässerchen trüben könnten (German phrase)! Later- after my aquafitness- I'll read your V&V post!
Ginnie Hart: Zoals altijd, hartstikke bedankt, Philine! Enjoy your aquafitness.
No you got me there Ginnie, I can't guess
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! You'll a regular Yellow Bear, Bill! grin
Cute! And nice photo as well.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mats. smile
Ah! ... The silent supporters
Ginnie Hart: I always wonder what they're up to when no one is looking, Richard. smile

Ginnie Hart: The little one is a Ty beanie baby, Frida. Those people are laughing all the way to the bank!

never figured you as a sports fanatic
Ginnie Hart: OMG, Chantal. If you graduate from a big-time university in America with a good sports program, you never get it out of your blood. smile
Would make good Xmas presents for our grandchild Ginnie.Didnt know you went to university in Mexico Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Mexico? HA! Try again, Mick. grin
Nice crisp shot Ginnie - I love the light coming in to the frame from the right.

I wonder how many teddy bears have been to such a great school
Ginnie Hart: HA! Good question, Vintage. smile
I'm going to go with ... Michigan?smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHA! Good guess, JP! smile
Ha, this is great. Growing up in Cincinnati, there were many Ohio State fans around. I remember when I was little, my parents took me to a Michigan/Ohio State game in Columbus. Mostly what I can recall was a sea of people all around!
Ginnie Hart: That will be the one game that is packed to the gills two Saturdays from now, Doug. Let's hope this year we can beat them!!! smile
That's a great photo. So "clean". I like that. Cute ones too!

...and I find it quite fun that they wear the Swedish flag's colors!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, LCT. I love little critters like these that have meaning! smile
hehehe cute!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Joshi. grin

I think these two bears may be biased towards one particular team wink I like the grey bear especially. LOL at Chris.
Ginnie Hart: Biased indeed, Alan. I'd say so! The little one reminds me of when I was a student, footloose and fancy free. The grey bear reminds me of me now! smile Thanks.
Two cute little characters aren't they Ginnie, may the best team win later this month.
Ginnie Hart: May the best team win, Brian, and may it be MICHIGAN! grin
I'm fascinated by the whole culture that has emerged from the American football scene, Ginnie. We have some hockey madness here but it pales in comparison to what goes on in the States at this time of year. I don't know why, but the one tradition that has always appealed to me is the tailgate picnic.
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Beverly. You have your hockey!!! In that regard, you can identify. And yes, those tailgate parties are a big deal...not that I had any history with them at Michigan. My son's school on the other hand, U. of Georgia, is known for their tailgate parties. smile
I trust oyu have nice memories of your University days!
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Wim. A great campus and great memories!

Little kiss for you my Ginnie, good day...
Ginnie Hart: HA! And to you as well, Sir Pierrot. Merci.
Sorry about mix-up in the colours of the MSU Ginnie... we don't get a lot of college football here... i am a NFL fan...Duh!!!....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA. That mix-up in colors actually made my day, Peter. grin THAT'S what school rivalry is all about...even the colors!
A great colour photograph. Simply fantastic with the yellow and blue that just pops out from and otherwise mostly monochromatic picture. I like!
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind and generous, Otto. Thank you.
