To Bee or Not to Bee

That's the question!

It's a hoverfly...not a bee, I think.

(still trying to figure out my macro lens)

Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, Philine. I love how the macro lens is opening me up to a whole new world of nomenclature! HA!
Lovely toy,a macro lens, right Ginnie? You are doing a great jpb!
Ginnie Hart: It's a "toy" that has intimidated me for a year and a half, Marion. I finally decided to "conquer" it, if possible. HA! Thanks for your vote of confidence.
Very nice pic my Ginnie, kiss...
Ginnie Hart: Merci, dear Pierrot. Merci.
A hoverfly. Seen lots of these this year. This is an excellent picture Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bill. To think it took my macro lens to even know there was a difference!

I am a fan

Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, LoLO. Merci.
Your macro work is turning out wonderfully Ginnie. Even though this may not be a bee, it has all the moxy of a bee. I am reminded of the Bees in the old Saturday Night Live skits from the 70's.
Ginnie Hart: A bee by any other name, Doug, right? smile Thank you kindly.

Great detail Ginnie, its so much fun to do, I look at insects totally differently now, spiders is my next challenge, but I will have to overcome a phobia first lol. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Linda. You are so right. I am seeing everythign with brand new eyes! Even spiders. smile
I'm blown away at the sharpness & detail you are achieving in these macro images, Ginnie. Whatever you are doing, it's working brilliantly for you.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much, Beverly. Your vote of confidence humbles me.

Bee-ware or you can bee-come stung smile Excellent macro - how did you get him to sit still?
Ginnie Hart: Once I can tell the difference, Louis, I'm lucky. Apparently the hoverflies don't sting! Lucky for me since I hardly ever see anything else. smile Thanks.
Ha ha! Stop confusing this little poor guy.
He doesn't want to be a bee.
What's your question again? wink
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! A bee by any other name! smile
We've had a lot of these creatures about this year. You are doing well with your macro lens Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Brian. I'm getting my education! smile

It is a hover fly, a very beautiful image.

I am still figuring out my lens too. I do have a pic of a hover fly, it didn't quite focus on his eye, but on his wing...

Your image is perfect smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Cherry. Thayt's part of what I'm figuring out...what I want to focus on! I hope you're having as much fun as I am. smile

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Michael.

macromania. you are getting pretty good at this. i should start trying my hand at it also and not just on flowers too.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Maria. I want to figure out other things to concentrate on besides flowers and bugs...for sure.
That's the most colorful fly I've ever seen. I haven't had a macro lens in quite some time, makes me wish I still had mine. But chances are I wont capture anything like this and will probably just get stung by a bunch of bees instead. I'd rather not go through that scenario.. nice capture smile
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Nik. Thank you. One thing I discovered is that the bees sting but the hoverflies don't. smile
