This is one of my favorite houses near where we live in The Netherlands.

It's always good to come back home, which is what my Vision & Verb is about today.

Yay! Ginnie's back!

Do these folks live on a canal?

Yes, there is a feel of "Home Sweet Home" or a bit fairy tale -'sleeping Beauty' - a lovely picture of an idyllic -ideal world far away from of any troubles and sorrows - I can read between your lines: You are very happy to have come home to the world where you belong to! (Later I'll read your V&&V reflection.)
Ginnie Hart: You have said it perfectly, Philine, reading in-between the lines! Hartstikke bedankt. It's very good to be back where I belong. smile

What a wonderful house and setting Ginnie. Welcome back.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you and thank you, Chad. It is so good to be back where I belong. Next time Astrid will go with me!
Yes, this is Lek & Linge area!!
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'll have to ask Astrid about that later this evening. This spot is right outside where we live in Gorinchem. I love it.
The house looks like it belongs in England. Glad you are home safe and sound.
Ginnie Hart: It does indeed, Mary! Thanks. It is very good to be back home where I belong. The next time Astrid will go with me.
It would be my ideal house too Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Kinda hard to beat, Martin. smile Thanks.

It is not home for me. Netherlands never was home to me. But this picture created a moment of intense longing in me. It is so real dutch.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid would say, "More Dutch you cannot get!" I really love that phrase. If your longing ever brings you back here, PLEASE let us know!!! smile
Almost a house from a fairytale.
A fine shot of it!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Wim. Bedankt.

Wonderful looking house! I want it too! smile Great shot Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: It's fun, Sil, isn't it. smile Grazie.
What a wonderful home and setting, perched right on the edge of the water. I can see why you would love this cottage. Beautiful image Ginnie, one that reveals all the charms of this scene. Hope you had a nice trip :^)
Ginnie Hart: It was a fabulous trip, Doug, because of my peace of mind, I guess. This scene here is a good depiction of what I feel about it all. Thanks.
It looks so wonderfully cosy...
Ginnie Hart: It does, JP, doesn't it! Thanks.

Charming home, love the natural garden along the canal.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Rob. I have a feeling they take great pride in their place there. Thanks.
And a very nice spot it is too!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Tom! And thanks.
very beautiful place indeed, I can see why it is a favorite of yours. I have to wonder when I see a scene like this if mosquitoes are a problem there?
Ginnie Hart: Astrid says there can be a mosquito problem, Mark, but to be honest, I haven't noticed it yet anywhere in The Netherlands. Mind you, I've seen one or two but nothing like what I experience in the States. Thanks.

I can see why Ginnie, very photogenic indeed. Nicely presented.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Les, very photogenic. Thanks.
I like the way you developed this. Did you desaturate? It looks great.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Gail. It's a combination of things, including textures, sepia, etc. The over-all effect is a desaturation of sorts. Good eye.
What a lovely little cottage Ginnie. If you want fishing lessons I could send my son Chris over, he is fishing mad and catches some really big ones.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Wait till you see Astrid fish. She could probably give Chris a run for the money! smile We're getting antsy to go fishing nearby one of these days. Thanks, Brian.
beautiful view and nice light!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Joshi.
Good to have you back ginnie. Hope the trip was good. I'll pop over to v&v in a bit
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Bill. THANK YOU. It's WONDERFUOL to be back where I belong. smile

OMG, is a sweet house! Fantastic!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Oscar. Yes, it is. smile Gracias.
Absolutely beautiful Ginnie. Do they ever suffer from flooding?
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Pamela. There is rarely ever flodding here in The Netherlands because the windmills control the water level. Remember that over 27% of the country is below sea level, so they're always pumping water out! It really is quite amazing when you think about it!

the owners got great skills tending to their greens.. smile nice capture..
Ginnie Hart: I definitely agree, Rian! Thank you.
What a wonderful spot! I love that they have they're own "moat"!

Loved your V&V writing!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. It does look like their own moat, doesn't it. smile Thanks also for reading my V&V. That means a lot to me.
Your V&V Ginnie... was a wonderful reminder that home has many faces. What a lovely little cottage here... I got home today after 6 days in hospital for a R hip replacement. Have to say also ... "there's no place like home" ... I love hubby even more these days.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Jacquelyn, for reading my V&V. That means a lot to me. And welcome back home yourself after hip surgery. Please pamper yourself and let hubby take care of you.

Un cadre magnifique où il fait bon vivre. Petite maison qui a l'air isolé mais qui ressemble plus à un lieu très organisé d'un agriculteur ou d'une petite famille. Un très beau traitement photo, aussi.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Olivier. It has a dreamlike character to it for me. Merci.
Welcome back. wink
There's no place like home, G.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, LC. No place, indeed! smile

It's not only very beautiful, it also is a perfect place with the water around it.
Welcome back Ginnie! I love this picture.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Fokko. It's such an idyllic place on the way to our favorite pannenkoeken restaurant, out in the boonies. smile
Its a lovely sight. It must also be nice to see cows every morning.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Cows or sheep or horses. They're all around this place. I love it. Thank, KWB. smile
So beautiful Ginnie...I got to spend a day in Amsterdam(on my trip to dusseldorf)but unfortunatelly didnt get out into the country.. you really capture it so well....
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Gale. Too bad we missed you!
Truly a gorgeous house, and yes, one I'd love to live in too, Ginnie. I can see what attracts you to it, especially by the water.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Alex. There are so many places like this as we are out-n-about...all so very idyllic and romantic. They take great pride in their houses here!

I can imagine that this one of your favourite housessmile)
Holland, romantic and you also made it in a nice way
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Quark. I love how the Dutch take pride in their houses!
I use to live near the water a couple of years ago and I always worried about flooding during hurricane season. I don't think you guys get nasty hurricanes in the Netherlands, but is flooding a problem in low laying areas like this?

I really like your treatment of this photo, any darker though and it would give this photo a sinister feel instead tongue
Ginnie Hart: We don't need to worry about flooding most of the time, Nik, because that's what the windmills are for, to keep pumping the water out. However, we've had so much rain lately, the windmills are having a tough time keeping up. So you're partly right to raise the concern!

Thanks for your comment and visit. It means a lot to me. smile
this is an excellent shot and i love this place. privacy and peace assured.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Ayush, and thank you. Actually, if the road didn't curve to the right, you'd drive right into the canal towards this lovely house. smile
