photoblog image My Little Buttercup

My Little Buttercup

Astrid and I joined 8 other photographers from around The Netherlands on a photo hunt 21 May.

We walked 12 km in 4 hours around the fields and forests of Roden, Netherlands, in Drenthe Province.

The buttercups everywhere were the delight of us all.

c'est bucolique comme j'aime !
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Rem. Merci. smile
Sounds like an interesting day Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: We both felt like 180-year-ladies, Les, at the end, but we sure did enjoy it. smile
Looks like you had some good hunting smile
Ginnie Hart: We did, indeed, Larry. Highlander cows, Shetland ponies, a Mandarin duck, a stork in its nest, a baby llama...but no sheep. Amazing. smile
This delightful scene could very well be a snap shot from a childhood memory, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I think you;re right, Beverly...for a lot of little girls who grew up idolizing horses! smile Thanks.

Well worth it for the exercise and for this image, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray. It was good exercise on both counts, especially since most of our walks are NOT in nature.

Lovely! But you already now I love horses. What I like about this photo is the contrast. His creamy white against the dark background. And the yellow speckles of the flowers AND the speckles of light on the trees. And the fence line just draws one eye across the photo. smile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Margaret. I even thought of you when I was working on this one. smile I know all your kids would love this one in a field of buttercups. Thank you for your kind comment.

The weather was fabulous.
the buttercups was like gold in the fields, great picture, love the peaceful scene.
Margeret said it all...
Every thing in the picture is just wonderful.
Ginnie Hart: Fokko and Karin did such a good job of organizing this event. It was well worth the time and effort to get there. I wouldn't mind doing it again. smile Hartstikke bedankt, my Queen. grin
Thats one pretty looking horsie
Ginnie Hart: I agree, KWB. grin Thanks.

This is a striking backlit shot Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Chris. I wasn't used to so much sun, believe it or not. smile
A picture quite charming! and I find these meetings very nice photographer! Not very many in France and it's a shame! This flowerbed is really fabulous!
Ginnie Hart: It's the first photo hunt of its kind we've attended, Mathilde, and quite wonderful in every way. We'll have to do it again! Merci.
Lovely summery scene Ginnie!! I am thrilled it is finally there!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Marion. That day the sun was shining almost too brightly. I wasn't used to it. HA!

What a lovely, pastoral spring scene with the peacefully grazing horse and the buttercups everywhere! Yes, Drenthe must be a beautiful part of Netherlands, quite appropriate to holiday there as a friend of mine likes doing every year biking along the fields... Oh, there are so many photographers in NL! Was Wim with you?
Ginnie Hart: It was a delightful place to be, Philine, and we loved every minute of it. No, Wim was not with us. We only knew Fokko, who set the whole thing up. Now he wants to organize another excursie for July or August. So maybe we'll go again?! smile Bedankt.

nice day it must have been...
Ginnie Hart: It was gorgeous, Chantal. Just what the doctor ordered. smile
Can you imaging finding and chewing your food amongst all the beautiful buttercups? Lovely shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: No, Mary, I can't. I wonder if they LIKE buttercups??? smile Thanks.

Drenthe is such a nice province in summer, except that it smells of what the cows left behind sad

If ever you have the time go to http://www.veenpark.nl/
Ginnie Hart: I think we were lucky that day, Louis, because I don't remember any unwanted smells. I'll ask Astrid about Veenpark. Hmmmm. Thanks for the link.
A great spring meadow Ginnie, that makes one feel at peace with the world.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, John. You nailed it. Thanks. smile

That must have been really fun.
Ginnie Hart: It was a blast, Scarlet, though very tiring. That night when we fell into bed, we both felt like 180-year-olds (the age Astrid picked!). smile
Une belle rencontre... Mais nous avons la même idée de photo... Un animal blanc !
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Olivier. We're on the same page today. smile Merci.
Entertaining ride that you should have done. Would enjoy the landscape and environment. A greeting.
Ginnie Hart: It was delightful in every way, Pedro. We felt one with Mother Nature. Gracias.

A lovely pastoral shot, we seem to have a lot of Buttercups over here this year.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Brian. The buttercups were EVERYWHERE. I've never seen so many at one time in my life!

quelle douceur dans cette image !!smile j'aime sa lumière !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Didier. I know. The sun was so bright that day. Everyone was alive! smile Merci.
I hope the horse enjoyed them! They're a plague in my lawn!
Ginnie Hart: But they're better than dandelions, aren't they, Tom?? They sure did make for some pretty pictures! smile Thanks.
Summer, summer, summer....I like. It's fun going with ohers that are just as crazy as youself....not all people find it intersting taking 15 pictures of a light pole wink
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Aksel, you're right. It was a good mix and we had so much to see. Thank you.

a picture that lifts the spirit
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Paul. It sure lifts mine. smile
Wow, that sounds like so much fun. I'd love to do something like that. Photographers in Chas. seem so competitive. The love of photography is lost sometimes in the pursuit of having to pay the bills. Sadly.
Ginnie Hart: You make a good point, Doug. When you 'have' to do it to pay the bills, almost anything loses it's fun! Too bad.
I love your little buttercups Ginnie....and i also love that pinto grazing on them....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Peter. It was such a lazy day, even though we walked our tails off! smile
Ah ginnie, I am 20 years old of equitation in boots, then we understand... if one day you go back in France, I wish to see you, unless one day I go(take) up to visit kiss kiss, beautiful photo...
Ginnie Hart: That means you could be my grandson, Pierrot. grin We will certainly let you know when we are in France again. smile Merci.

Wonderful!! Beautiful like in a dream. It's so nice to this on your blog in your style.
As you know, you are most welcome again, with friends too!
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhh, hartstikke bedankt, Fokko. It was such a great day for us, wasn't it. Perfect weather. Astrid will write you later about what's coming up for us in July and August, which may mean we can't do it again this summer. But maybe later, another time!

Superb this horse, surrounded by flowers, magnificent shot. Ginnie good day.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Tede. If only the whole world could be as peaceful! Merci.
What a beautiful carpet of buttercups. The horse is looking good in the sun too. Lovely summer scene Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: The buttercups were awesome, Janet. The horse stole my heart in the center of them. smile Thanks.
The light couldn't be better for this beautiful image....wonderful colors and a lovely animal! Great shot Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Pavan. We had more sunlight than I'm used to. HA!

Yes Ginnie, I shall be satisfied of your to meet, and to accommodate you a few days, with no problem at all, even if you are 2, too satisfied, kiss...
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Pierrot. You never know if/when our paths may cross. And yes, Astrid, my wife, would be with me. smile
No problem Ginnie, I accommodate you the time(weather) which you want, when you want, all the pleasure will be for me, and you will be bicycles, betrothed!
