A Little Good News

It's my semi-monthly turn at Vision and Verb today,

contemplating world news and how nice it is when we hear something good.

And yes, that's Lady P also contemplating, here where we live in The Netherlands.

Great photo Ginnie! I love the composition.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Peter.
Delightful post, Ginnie. Such a sweet image and hopeful message. One of my very favourite Anne Murray songs. Love it!
Ginnie Hart: Gotta love that Anne Murray, Beverly. We used 2 of her songs for our wedding a year ago. smile This image of Astrid is actually from a year ago (still sitting in my Archives) but seemed appropriate for the song and V&V post today. Thanks.

A true sense of contemplation, leaving me perplexed at whether it really is good news she is thinking of...
Ginnie Hart: That day was a year ago, Jess, and we were on a nice long walk along our Merewede river here where we live in Gorinchem. I'm sure she had nothing but good thoughts in that moment. smile

What a peaceful scene! To sit and just enjoy the sights, sounds, and solitude. Wonderful
Ginnie Hart: Wait. Are you the Martie I already know but with a new blog? Or am I confused. If you're the same ol' Martie, thank you. And if not, thanks for stopping by and commenting here. smile

A wonderful picture, if I am allowed to say that, I am the one sitting there.
A wonderful composition, great light and even it was taken a year ago I still remember our walk along the river.
After reading the comments I am wondering what Jess means.
For me there is nothing more soulful than being outside, on top of that the sun was out, even it was a very cold day.
The view was fabulous, the river, the boats, the sound of the birds and great company wink
What else can a person ask for.
To some people this might sound 'simple', to me this is having a rich life.
And yes, I can let go of 'all day burdens' when I am in a place like that.
I love the Ann Murray song with it.
Ginnie Hart: This is you at your most sublime, MLMA, for sure. I still remember that day as though it were yesterday. So sunny...and cold. Crisp. Just like we like it. We really do have a rich life. This kind of image depicts it perfectly for me. Bedankt!
very beautiful Ginnie...nice siluet...love it
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bram. I appreciate it.
Brightness sublime! I am completely happy before this picture! And then there is tremendous similarity in the atmosphere of your image and mine of the day! Ginnie good day
Ginnie Hart: Both of our images definitely go together, Mathilde...and we didn't even call each other first! grin I love that we're on the 'same page' today. Merci.

It is rare you hear good news ! :-0
Looks like a peaceful place to relax !
Ginnie Hart: Rare indeed, Sidney. Thayt's probably why we yearn for it so much! Thanks.

This is Astrid in her typically Dutch surroundings Ginnie: as Dutch as cheese with holes in it and words that are too peculiar for an Englishperson to understand
Ginnie Hart: HA! Astrid will love your comment, Chris, as do I. smile Hartstikke bedankt.

Yes, a lovely, atmospheric picture (een beetje verwerkt a la Ginnie) -we may feel Spring is now approaching - een fijn verstild plekje where we can leave all our cares behind or - spoken in my mother language- "die Seele baumeln lassen" - we need these moments, and I can imagine how Astrid and yourself are enjoying them! Some time later the meadows will be freshly green, the trees will be full of leaves , and Astrid will have put off her woolen cap! Today (Rosenmontag) it is sunny, too, but still rather crispy-cold!
(Later I'll read your contemplation on the V&V-blog)
Ginnie Hart: This image, Philine, is actually from a year ago but could have been today. We, too, are sunny, but still with temps at freezing point. Any day now we'll know spring is here to stay. Hartstikke bedankt for your lovely words. I bet you had a wonderful time traveling this past week. We have had lots of sun!

News people will say that good news doesn't sell. Which is all the more a pity.

Great backlit shot, with the light in the plumes.
Ginnie Hart: We need to hear the bad news, Louis, I suppose, to keep focus on what's happening, but a little "mixing it up" would be nice. Yes. Thanks.

A little good news: public spring cleaning in Netherlands:
"Zaterdag 21 maart a.s. staat heel Nederland in het teken van de grote voorjaarsschoonmaak. Die dag is het namelijk Landelijke Opschoondag. Overal steken mensen samen de handen uit de mouwen om hun buurt op te schonen. Het is hét moment om letterlijk de bloemetjes buiten te zetten." After having seen all the terrible litter and dirty, thrown-away things in Amsterdam (and otherwhere, of course) wherever you were looking around I now find this civil project announced on many places very positive and worth imitating. Ik zou willen meedoen!
Ginnie Hart: Now THAT is indeed good news, Philine! And to think we heard it first from you. I'll ask Astrid about it when she comes home tonight.... smile
Astrid looks really relaxed, sitting there gathering Vitamin D.
Ginnie Hart: Typical of all the Dutch I've ever met, Mary, Astrid does love her day in the sun! smile
I recognised Lady P immediately, I see that she is watching the annual mud wrestling contest in the water.
Ginnie Hart: Now THAT would be something, wouldn't it, Chad. grin HAHAAHA!

It's such a lovely..peaceful..contemplative image. And the light - is simply gorgeous!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marcie. This was a year ago but I remember it as though it were yesterday. smile
The picture and the song work very well together Ginnie. Powerful post
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Janet. Thank you.
And a nice bright Monday morning, things feel good today. Time to be out and about.
Ginnie Hart: We've had more sun in the last few days than in the last two months put together, John. It feels good, indeed. Thanks.
A wonderful thought prevoking image Ginnie with beautiful composition. I can just imagine how peaceful it must be sitting their , taking in the beauty of nature.
Ginnie Hart: There's nothing quite like nature on a sunny day, even when it's cold outside, like it still is here (around the freezing point). Thanks, Laurette.

Love the image Ginnie though like some of the others am finding it hard to reconcile the title with the mood of the picture which despite the sunshine seems slightly melancholic. Maybe it's the sight of a solitary person on a bench....
Ginnie Hart: Not sure if you had the chance to watch the YouTube or read my piece over at V&V, Ingrid, but for me that's the point: the sense of melancholy with the daily news and why we long for "a little good news." To be honest, it reminds me of your own post today...and the irony of an image of tombstones to start us off on a bright Monday. Not exactly an oxymoron but perhaps two sides of one coin? This is when I wish we were part of a small group and could talk about our images at length. Wouldn't that be fun!

Beautiful place...lovely light...fine bench...innovative portrait of Lady P.

I like this, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray. Lady P will also appreciate that. smile
fantastic Ginnie really compliments today you show me really a wonderful photo
Ginnie Hart: Thank you very much, Fabrizio. Grazie.
Lovely !!! I believe that after capturing this, you joined Astrid on the bench to enjoy the river, the boats, the sound of the birds and great company.
Ginnie Hart: I believe I did exactly that, Elsabe, a year ago. smile We love to see the freighters go by on their way to Rotterdam. Thank you.

Lady P has the right idea, take in the sun's warmth and wait for spring. Though it has been fascinating to witness world events, we need a break from bad news and contemplate our place in the world and realize we are alright.
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Rob. Balance is a key word these days, lest we become futilists. Is that a word?
I could easily sit here with or without Lady P.and your good self Ginnie, but with Maureen of course, it looks a very peaceful spot.
Ginnie Hart: We would have plenty of room on the bench for you and Maureen both, Brian. Just tell me when you can come. smile

This is so delightful, a lovely picture and video. It makes me feel warm inside.

The picture also reminds me of my 'Sit and rest a while with me' photos smile

most of what i hear now in world news is bad, but there's some good too, it's good to focus on those.. grin

nice capture too.. smile
Ginnie Hart: I know, Rian, and agree. It's good to mix it up a bit! Thanks.
Ben? Why is she alone on this bench? Say he that I arrive Ginnie, that I shall take him the hand, quite slowly very beautiful colors this photo kiss, good day....
Ginnie Hart: She's my wife, Pierrot, and I'm behind her taking the picture. grin So she really wasn't alone. I joined her after the picture. But that's still so sweet of you. Merci. smile
bello scatto. mi piace la figura presa di spalle che ci fà vedere quello che lei vede.
Ginnie Hart: It's always fun to stand behind someone to see what they see, Saverio. Yes, indeed. Grazie.

Beautiful shot. It makes me comtemplate also.
Ginnie Hart: Sitting near the Merwede, watching the freighters on their way to Rotterdam. We love doing that and need to do it more often! Bedankt.
Indeed, a lovely contemplative image Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Doug.
Effectivement, tout n'est pas beau à voir... Prendre du temps pour comtempler des choses simples reste plus constructif et plus reposant. Une très très belle photo, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Olivier. Merci.
I'd thought this was Lady A.
A nice 'pondering' photo; it gives the impression time is standing still.
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Wim. Lady A AND Lady P (Lady of the Polder to our English friends). smile
When you watch the freighters pass by to Rotterdam on the Merwede river, it sometimes does feel like time is standing still! Bedankt.
Me gusta el encuadre y sobre todo la edición que le has dado a la foto, te ha quedado genial.

Saludos
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bernardo. Muchas gracias.
The news is always a little better when you have someone special to share it with. smile
