Lovely photo Ginnie. Double hoodied with lots of patterns too. Great angle to capture this interesting place.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, John. Make sure you click on the 'waterpoort' link in the text because it's a famous enough Dutch place to be the icon of an entire line of nautical clothing named Gaastra:

it's always nice to be prepared.. nice candid capture.. smile
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Rian, especially when it's cold and windy, as it was that day! Thanks.
Gros bisou ginnie, bon week end...
Ginnie Hart: A fine weekend to you, too, Pierrot. Merci.

A great picture, love the colours and the composition.
It is a famous place in the Netherlands, wonder if he knew after his 'trip'.
I saw him with his friend exchanging 'goodies' grin.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, he and his friend did seem a bit sheepish about us being there with our cameras! grin Thank you, MLMA. The waterpoort was a great place to see.
Thank you for your cuckoo ginnie, my gulls make you a kiss...
Ginnie Hart: That's so sweet, Pierrot. Merci.

Hmmm...don't they call tis pattern gingham Ginnie?

I'll bet he's checking his mobile
Ginnie Hart: You may be right, Chris, about the gingham, though I've usually thought of them being smaller sqaures and just two colors: http://www.google.com/images?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=s&hl=en&q=gingham&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1680&bih=835

In his right hand he has something he's smoking...pot, according to Astrid. smile
Must be cold!!
Ginnie Hart: And very windy, Marion...39-46 mph. smile

wonderful image. It must be cold.
Ginnie Hart: Very cold and windy, Brian, indeed. Thanks.
Well this different from you Ginnie, you should do more like this.

Ginnie Hart: That day was gale-wind force 8, Chantal...39-46 mph. The wind-chill factor was very high. smile

I like the subtle colours in the coat.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Chad.
Lovely shot Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
A great candid shot Ginnie. Looks like he was rather cold and in his own little world.
Ginnie Hart: He was smoking some pot with his friend, Laurette, and definitely in his own world. He found a cozy spot there at the waterpoort...away from the fierce wind and cold. Thanks.
Excellent portrait shot!
Nice day to you Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland. Merci.
nice shot, ugly outfit lololol just joking smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! He probably is very trendy for that part of the world, Elaine. grin Thanks.
Nice candid Ginie. That looks like a nice place
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Janet. It the iconic place to be for that city. smile
Nice candid shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Tom.

A nice mood... great subdued colors. A great image!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sidney. Since he was smoking pot, I'm sure he felt very subdues. smile
Encore un lieu qui ne manque pas de charme... Un beau cadrage sur ta photo, Ginnnie. Les différents plans photographiques se superposent et se croisent.
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Olivier. Merci.
You know what they say... two hoods are better than one!
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHA. I like that, JP. grin
Wonderful leading lines and soft tones.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Becky/Doug. smile

The ubiquitous hoodie! Good candid image, though I can't help thinking it might benefit from being in full colour.
Ginnie Hart: Between your color and Trim's B&W, I'm sure there's a happy medium, Ingrid. To be honest, I went back-n-forth on what to do with this one and even brought Astrid into the discussion. It's one image I think I will try to re-work one day to see how it might look better. Thank you for your very kind suggestion!
One of the modern rituals caught at the right moment. Well done!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, PL. Thank you!
Nice to see a very good candid shot from you Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

With the mobile in his left hand, I can only wonder what is being studied in the left hand. Can't think that someone so young is interested in anything else than text messages smile

You have a double great weekend.
Ginnie Hart: As you know by now, he was having a 'happy hour' there with his friend. HA! They were also being shielded from the level-8 winds that cold day, 39-46 mph.

Hope you, too, are having a great weekend.

Uh, oh! I read Astrid's comment afterwards.
Ginnie Hart: Yup. He was off in another world, to be sure. He did seem a bit sheepish around our two cameras! smile
interesting composition, I love hue and situation captured, also very nice this soft panning effect in the hand of the boy
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Fabrizio. Grazie.
A classic example of your style of image making Ginnie.
good to see a fine bit of street photography. For me I would have had it in pure black and white with possibly the merest suggestion of sepia. The guy is the real star in this and the background is a slight distraction. I thought I would attempt to be 'orribly critical but in reality I'm really glad you are going down this route ... and I reckon you should do loads more of it.

Keep this sort of stuff coming Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Between your B&W and Ingrid's color, I'm sure there's a happy medium, Richard. To be honest, I went back-n-forth on what to do with this one and even brought Astrid into the discussion. It's one image I think I will try to re-work one day to see how it might look better. Thank you for your very kind suggestion! Please know that I always welcome your viewpoint and will always trust it to NOT be 'horribly critical.' We all can benefit from constructive suggestions!
Lovely candid capture. I,m sure this guy can't wait for summer.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elsabe. It was definitely cold and windy that day...enough so for all of us to be eager for summer! smile
Very good tones and slight colouration Ginnie, This is a trend all over I think smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you much, Linda. I actually have some pieces to double-up with and can be part of the trend myself. grin
A grand piece of street photography Ginnie, works for me.
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Les. Thank you.
I wonder if he's wearing a belt and suspenders too.
Ginnie Hart: Wait. Are you the Dutchbaby I know (Diana in CA) or someone else? The link took me to Hutch Hunnie's Blogg but nothing else was there. HELP! In the meantime, thank you for your comment. You never know what's underneath, do you. grin

A fine street - photo - I like the different patterns - I'm sure to see today some other hoodied youngsters (I thought of a girl - such a gentle face, very young) - we are on way to Amsterdam by train in order to visit the Gabriel Metsu- exhibition im the Rijksmuseum. Good wishes for you- and a relaxing weekeind vooral voor Astrid na het harde werken over de week !
Ginnie Hart: Oh, what a great trip for you, Philine...a day out at the Rijksmuseum. Good for you. Please wave as you go by! We had a fabulous day in Gouda yesterday (Friday, while my laptop was being cleaned). The sun was shining!

Yup, that was me. I forgot to put "go" in front of the URL. Hutch Hunny owns dutchbaby.blogspot.com. It's been so long since I've had to enter my URL that I got out of practice sad

I wish Hutch Hunny would either use the name or make it available...

I like your title so much. As soon as I saw the image I noticed the double checked outfit. It shouldn't match, but I like it. She has great style. Looks like a cold day, Ginnie. We're experiencing early spring.
Ginnie Hart: You and I both love the play on words, Sherri. I love when you come up with the same. Thanks for that confirmation. We're having several days of sun in a row but we're still in the low 30s temp-wise. The warmer days will come soon, for sure.
Excellent composition Ginnie. I love the lines that lead to the young man. Very sharp observation!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir! smile
