A great picture and Doug has a nice way of saying it.
this is what proost means...I think this will cover all the languages spoken by Shutterchangers http://dionysus-dagboek.blogspot.com/2008/11/proost-in-verschillende-talen.html
Ginnie Hart: We're lucky to experience the jaarwisseling together another year in a row. Have a great last 2010 day at work and then home, MLMA. Bedankt, mijn vrouw.

Ja, dit klopt, Astrid is right - a fine, fitting picture, and I'm sure you both will enjoy this jaarwisseling while drinking Pommery Champagner -Proost/Prost/Prosit (het zou van nut zijn!) ook voor jullie beiden en een heeeel gelukkig Nieuwjaar!

For the con templative among us:

Prayer (by Eduard Möricke)

Lord, send what You will,
love or sorrow;
I am content that both
spring from Your hands.

But may you wish with neither joy
nor sorrow
to overwhelm me!
For in the middle
lies modest contentment.

Ginnie Hart: I LOVE that poetic sentiment, dear Philine, and find it to be most suitable for those of us of a certain age, where the extremes are not so helpful anymore. Somewhere in the middle sounds very good to me. smile Hartstikke bedankt. We're thinking of you this jaarwisseling!

Happy New Year Ginnie. Proost to you both ;o)
Ginnie Hart: And likewise to you, Mike and Ingrid!
Heerlijk !
(from my very limited vocab.)
Question for you both - when I spoke poor Dutch in Holland in the 60s people appeared to understand me, when I now speak equally bad French in France every one looks at me like I'm 'speaking in tongues'.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Heerlijk is a great word, one of my favorties, Martin. My HA is in relation to what you said about the French. Uh, erm, well, I guess that's their reputation, right? grin
Happy New Year!

Tulips are dressed in Champagne! That's great!
I wish you a great New Year Eve, Ginnie. All the best for 2011!
Ginnie Hart: It was a perfect sight for a Dutch greeting, Didier, for sure. Merci.
Tulips in November. We'll get daffodils in December next! smile

Happy new year to you both. Enjoy your party.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'm guessing 'they' grow them all year 'round in many places in Holland, Sheila. It's fun. We had a great time at our party and a quiet day yesterday with friends in Den Bosch, where this image was taken a month ago.
Happy 2011 Ginnie, great picture, surely the Tulips aren't out over there already.
Ginnie Hart: No, the tulips aren't out yet in real Mother Nature, Brian, but I'm guessing there are those who do still grow them all year around. Always a market for them, you know. smile Happy 2011!
Tonight there will be no flowers in my ice bucket, but champagne. Happy New Year Ginnie. Bz VAL grin
Ginnie Hart: I hope you're right, Valérie, and that you had a great celebration! Happy 2011!
Can't wait until I can tip-toe through the tulips again, because that means we have SPRING!!! Jay!!

A very happy New Year for you and Astrid! I forgot to buy champagne!! We will have to do our proost met een gewoon wijntje grin

Ach, het gaat om het gebaar!

Vrolijk nieuwjaar, lieve Ginnie!!
Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, Marion, we had no champagne Friday night or yesterday. Red wine was good enough for us both and the new year had no problem with it. smile It's here! Happy 2011.

Tulips and snow - so evocative. Growing up in Iowa, we often had snow up to the tulip blossoms - but they persevered!

The colors are beautiful here. I've been thinking of painting the bath, and the color of those tulips would be perfect! How wonderful that I can print out the photo, take it to my paint store and have them duplicate the color by computer!
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. I love that thought, Linda...of the tulip color in your bath! Thank you for that.
