Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Maria. Astrid says it's the 6th time here in 100 years that both Christmas days will be white. And more is predicted today. smile

Thanks Ginnie, we hope you and Astrid enjoy the holiday season.

Alix & Brian
Ginnie Hart: We are totally enjoying the season, Brian and Alix, especially because of the snow (and winter tires for Astrid's drive to work). She says it's the 6th time here in 100 years that both Christmas days will be white. smile Blessings of the season to you both as well.

Thank you Ginnie! I wish Astrid and you the same. Have a good time this white christmas.
A very beautiful christmas greeting you have here by the way.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Fokkio. When I planned this image for today, I wasn't worried about the lack of snow in it, since it's rare to get snow here where we live for Christmas. Astrid says it's the 6th time here in 100 years that both Christmas days will be white. I'm the lucky one. smile
Merry Christmas Ginnie to you and yours!!!!
Ginnie Hart: Grazie, Fabrizio. It's a wonderful time of the year! smile

Oh, Ginnie, what a dreamy, aan het hart(!!!) gaande photo- wonderful -and my favourite Christmas song I hope we will sing tonight, too: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht..." -you both will be singing it in de Grote Kerk van Gorinchem- this is sure- but perhaps in het Nederlands? Do enjoy these days -together and in happiness!
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, lieve Philine. I am so looking forward to this evening in our Grote Kerk. It will be a good way to celebrate this special holiday. I will be remembewring you, knowing you will be celebrating, too. smile Much peace and happiness to you and yours!

This has to be THE Christmas carol.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, I'm sure, Chad. I had already titled this post with those words before I found the texture overlay, so I couldn't resist adding it. Thank you.

I'm not a great lover of Christmas any more, but I do like a good carol and this is one of my favourites! Merry Christmas to you both.
Ginnie Hart: If Christmas is too commercialized, Ingrid, it does nothing for me either. Give me the quietness of a lit Christmas tree and I'm a happy camper...with Astrid at my side. Silent night, in other words. Holy night, too. Thank you for your dear wishes. The best to you and Mike.
Merry Christmas, Ginnie. Hope your holiday is wonderful.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Mary. The same to you and yours!
Two old masters in one Ginnie, nicely done. Have a Merry Christmas.
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Les. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Merry Christmas to you too Ginnie, keep warm ;o)
Ginnie Hart: You must have known I needed to stay warm, Mike...it's been so cold, especially at night, even with Astrid's radiating heat! grin I may need to grow a bit of fat?!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and Astrid.

We've just been watching/listening to a lovely programme about the history of church music, this one was mentioned.
Ginnie Hart: It's a favorite carol for so many, Ellie. I had chosen my title before I found the texture overlay, believe it or not, and was just ecstatic. Thank you and again, the happiest of holidays to you and yours.

Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Musketeer. It'll be a quiet day alone but we have a dinner s=reservation at 4p. at our nearby Greek restaurant. Also, Astrid wants us to take a drive out into the polder to see the fresh snow. We'll love it all. YOU have a great day with you and yours!

Beautifully put together to express the season and your new(ish) location. I hope that you and Astrid enjoy your second Christmas in the Netherlands.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, George. It will be a quiet day for us, full of joy and thanksgiving. We couldn't be happier.
I hope you and Astrid are warm and safe at home for Christmas, and not trying to get somewhere. It seems all of Europe has come to a standstill due to bad weather. May you be warm and dry, and right where you want to be!
Ginnie Hart: We will spend a quiet day here at hoem, Patrushka, except for a short ride out into the polder to take pictures of the fresh snow there. Also, a dinner reservation at 4p. at a nearby restaurant within walking disytance. Just what the doctor ordered. smile

Yes, the history of this originally Austrian carol, well-known in many languages all over the world, is moving: http://www.silentnight.web.za/history/index.htm - American children might know perhaps the book by Hertha Pauli: Silent Night. The Story of a Song. Alfred A. Knopf, New York 1943? I like particularly the English version, the German one could sometimes sound a bit too sweety in my ears, but sometimes I love it sweety, too!
Ginnie Hart: Oh, Philine, what a great link to this song. My dad loved learning the history behind all the songs we sang in church. In fact, he actually had a book on the hymns we sing, with a short history on each. I wonder which of the kids now has it? Anyway, I love picturing you doing the research for these things there at your computer. Merry Christmas again. We had the best Christ present yesterday when Astrid drove me/us as a surprise to Kinderdijk on a sunny day and we could take pictures of the many mills there in the snow. I was in heaven!

Merry Christmas to you and yours...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sunder. I found the musical-score texture right at the last minute and just had to add it, since I had already had the title.

What a magical composite image for the holidays. A belated merry..merry to you and yours. May your holidays be filled with laughter and light!
Ginnie Hart: We spent Christmas day at Kinderdijk, Marcie, the place of 19 windmills all in one spot. It was a sunny day and was the best Christmas gift of the day. We couldn't have asked for more! Thank you.

Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Olivier. Merci.
I have played that song a coupple of times this Christmas smile Never thought of a windmill though, while playing...but that's not that strange - not many "old" windmills in Norway....

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones smile

Hmmmm, maybe I should try some textures again - I had a lot of fun last time wink
Ginnie Hart: Merry Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours, too, Aksel. I have LOVED working with textures, as you can tell. smile Thank you.
