Joy to the World

Some of you know Astrid and I took part in our city's Santa Run last Saturday,

raising €25,000 for charity.  All 1,000 of us.

This is one of my favorite images of the almost 300 I took.

For some reason, I burst into singing "Joy to the World" (Three Dog Night version) every time I see it.

(even though he has a snowball in his hand!)

Gorinchem, Netherlands

Totally brings out the feel of the festive season. Nice one Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Festive is a good word for this, Amit, for sure. Thanks.

I saw the video Ginnie: aren't the Dutch organized!
Ginnie Hart: More than you'd ever know, Chris...and I love it. grin
Seeing brisk Christmas gnomes like these raising funds really strenghtens my faith in Santa Claus!

Even adultd need fairy tales time by time.
Ginnie Hart: If you knew my whole story, Pekka, you'd understand why almost every day I say "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!" grin Thanks.

Seems to be a lot of fun going on
Ginnie Hart: So much fun, Tony, I was a little kid all over again!
Such a wonderful, joyous image Ginnie, and even more so when one knows the occasion and the cause it belongs to! Well donesmile
Ginnie Hart: The money went to children in a mental hospital as well as to war orphans, Pavan. Definitely worthy causes. Thank you kindly.

Those guys were having so much fun together, it was a soccer-team..... always in for a joke gringrin
That was a great day, with so much fun and laughter.
A great picture to express the mood people were in, yes... 'Joy to the World' indeed.
Ginnie Hart: If you can't beat them, join them. That was my motto that day. I just went along with their tom-foolery and look...here's the result. Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA, for sharing this delightful memory with me. We'll have to do it every year, if possible.

and hit you?- hopefully! And where are the Santa-women?- Oh, I forgot the photographer dressed up as Santa, too, as I saw on your perosnal blog! Een grappige foto idd!
Ginnie Hart: Actually, I did get hit in the back of the head at one point, Philine, but I pretended I knew nothing about it. It was probably from one of these guys, aiming at the group of gals in front of me. grin HA! Everyone seemd to walk/run in their groups. This particular one I kept bumping into. It was such a fun day, yes. smile
Looks like it was a good day and every one had a good time.
Ginnie Hart: YES and YES, Mick. I'll never forget it.
A fine bunch of happy Santastongue
Ginnie Hart: All 1,000 of us, Bill. It was such a fun event. smile
What a splendid effort to be able to raise so much money and to have such fun as well, great cheery image.
Ginnie Hart: Those are the best events, Martin, because everyone wins. Thanks.

Brilliant shot, Ginnie. I love the people, but I also love the way the snow is drifted up on the trees.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sheila. It was such a great event.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Aussie.
We had a santa run here as well a few weeks ago. Seems like a fun time.
Ginnie Hart: We'll try to do it every year we can, Mary, because it really was fun and for a good cause. Thanks.

The red suits provide joyful contrast and so does the mugs of the young guys nearest to you. Joy all round, and now I am singing too. The dog sits, staring at me with a cocked head smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! The added image of "the dog" brings an extra smile, Louis. smile Thanks for that.

Lovely festive photo Ginnie. (But I think 300 Santa photos is a bit of an overkill!)
Ginnie Hart: Don't worry, Ingrid. I always delete half of them and then select the best of what's left for my other blog:

a funny group of Santa Claus's and a hint on the sold out of this tradition.
Ginnie Hart: It's a great tradition, Grapf, and just gets bigger every year. I love it. Thanks.
Everyone looks full of the joys of Winter Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Brian. It was such a joyous event for all.

This is such fun!! Sounds like you two had a great time!!!
Ginnie Hart: It's a memory never to be forgotten, Marcie, and perhaps to be repeated every year! Thanks.
What a wonderful and fun way to raise money for charity, Ginnie. Love how all the Santas in this shot are using their beards as bibs, or perhaps mufflers would be a better word to use.
Ginnie Hart: It was such a wonder, Beverly. I was a little kid again, in my element. smile Thanks. Your comments are always so observant and that means a lot to me.
That is sufficiently daft to have happened in England, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: HA! So it's Europe, then! smile Thanks, Tom.
Well done for taking part and a nice shot. There must have been a run on Santa outfits also smile
Ginnie Hart: It's amazing how many of these outfits someone had to make, John. It was fun to see. Thanks.

They look like a good group. (good for the charity)
Ginnie Hart: I do believe great fun was had by all, Sherrie. When you can have fun and it also benefits others, it's even more fun! Thanks.
Love this shot Ginnie. They really come out at you from the snow.
Ginnie Hart: It was all I could do to stay ahead of this particular bunch, Janet. But I also had to get out of their way when they threw snowballs at the gals in front of us. HA! Thanks. It was so fun.

A very festive event! And a very festive and funny capture too. I noticed that some Santas are late, and I hope they will be in time on Friday night smile)) Have a nice evening, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: It was a wonderful day for all 1,000 Santas, some just walking along with no care in the world. We were more towards the head of the line and could look back on the others. That was so fun. Merci, Didier!
very good fun image, see why you like it, did you get hit then
Ginnie Hart: I did get hit once, Derek, in the back of my head but it wasn't hard. I think someone was aiming for the girls in front of us and missed them but got me instead. I acted like it never happened. Ignore it and it'll go away, right?! smile Thanks.

Lovely shot..Very jouyous, festive mood well captured...
Super color contrast -red and white..
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sunder. It was great fun. smile
I simply cannot believe you took so many pictures for that event?!

You seemed to have more fun taking pictures rather than doing the run? Ha ha... That's good because it keeps you warm when you're doing something you're passionate about, Ginnie.

By the way, I'll be away 24-28 December.
So I'll come and visit you after the 28th.
You have a great Christmas!
Ginnie Hart: I whittled the whole lot down, of course, LC. I have another blog and did several collages, which you can see here:
http://ginniehart.blogspot.com/2010/12/gorinchem-2010-santa-run.html
Have a great time away, enjoying every minute of your holiday. See you when you return! Thanks.
That is one happy looking crew.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it was, Michael, and we were part of it. smile Thanks.

A beautiful and happy photo. Good that you did that for charity. Are you enjoying the winter?
Ginnie Hart: It was so much fun, Fokkio, and one we will do again, if possible. I am totally enjoying the snow here, something I grew up with in Michigan as a girl but had little of during my 25 years in Atlanta. So YES, I'm loving it! Bedankt.

Ginnie Hart: It was total heaven for the Kid in me, Frida. YES. Thank you kindly.
Alright... I came here to upload an image... you should check it out! (my first collage... avoiding writing holiday cards and experimenting because of your encouragement)

Meanwhile, this is fabulous and so nice to see it large. Many a night was spent (in the 70's) dancing to the tune you are inspired to sing (before learning partner dancing). Thanks for sharing! smile
Ginnie Hart: I can't tell you how delighted I am to see you here, Victoria, and that you have started to post here at SC. WELCOME! This is so fun. Please start posting your incredible macro shots. i can hardly wait.
