photoblog image Gathering Wisdom

Gathering Wisdom

It's my turn again at Vision & Verb where I talk about the Wild Wolf Woman

who gathers bones in the desert and breathes life into them (from Women Who Run With the Wolves).

This image is of the "Gathering Wisdom" bronze made by Mark Hopkins.

This beautiful lady is in our room and it seems to be alive.
Her wrinkled face and the look in her eyes makes you know that she has been through a lot and has a lot of wisdom, gathered over the years of her life.
I know the time you put into this picture, it is worth while, amazing how the outcome is.

Yes, Ginnie, I remember well a former photo of this old and wise lady -and I remember to have read that this sculpture plays a special role in your life so that you never would give it away on Ebay or otherwhere... - I'll later go (first some duties) to V&V to read the whole story...! I admire your photographical skills to make the figure so impressively standing out in the blackness of the picture! Fine to have back you on your blog! Ik hoop dat Astrid ook van een werkvrije dag kan genieten -de herfst kleuren zijn heel prachtig!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Philine, for your warm words. Hartstikke bedankt. She is very soulful to me.
A fantastic bronze Ginnie. I will catch up with v&v later

Love this image Musketeer, this is one wise looking lady..She has weathered many storms and could tell a tale or two.
The black background works well.
Ginnie Hart: She has definitely stood the test of time, Musketeer! Thank you.
There is so much detail, and so much expression in this. And it is so realistic.

Actually I can't say that I have ever seen anyone looking like this in England, but I have right here in Spain.
Ginnie Hart: You can see why she is so soulful to me, Sheila. Thank you.

EXCELLENT!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Olivier! smile
Firstly, wonderful capture of this beautiful bronze. Secondly, brilliant piece on V and V! You always seem to write pieces that reflect on my current state of mind! I think you have special powers. Not only that, my husband asked me for suggestions for an anniversary gift (34 years married plus two and a half years of scandalously `living in sin` lol!), and I will be asking for a copy of Women Who Run With the Wolves. Thank you! (:o)
Ginnie Hart: You are always so encouraging, Roz. Thank you. To be honest, I have never finished the book in all the years I've had it. I keep going back and rereading the first few chapters. Maybe I'm at a place in my life now where I can move on with the rest of the book!
Love the black background...somehow I feel like I'm entering a strange and mysterious world looking at this...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Aksel. She takes me there, too, every time I stare at her!
A brilliant shot of this heart wrenching and wonderful sculpture! Fabulously done!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Pavan. She has totally stolen my heart and soul! smile
