I'd Rather Be Fishing

Mondays are notorious for people dreading to go back to work!

It's my turn again at Vision and Verb, to see where I'm going with that thought....

This little girl was recently fishing off a canal bridge in the Holland countryside.

Look at how much fun she's having!

Fishing is my son's favorite hobby, though all my kids fish. He moved to Holland on Thursday for three months and is going to Northern Holland today.
Ginnie Hart: There's just something about fishing, Mary. My son grew up with this song, one that still goes through my head from time to time:

Your son is gonna love Holland...I guarantee it!

This reminds me how my kids used to fish the dutch canals. The bamboo pole is a real canal pole - good for catching eel as well.

Today I have no dread - we have a public holiday.
Ginnie Hart: It was definitely the real (reel) thing, Louis. We loved happening upon the scene. Enjoy your public holiday today...and go fishing. smile

And what a lucky girl it is who doesn't have to return to work on a regular Monday. Love the image!
Ginnie Hart: School vacation will be over soon, so she's grabbing the chances she getting now. Thanks, Marcie.
You've captured beautifully the pure joy & contentment in her face, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: She was a delightful surprise for me that day, Beverly. I saw myself in her face. smile Thanks.
A charming image... smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Larry.

From the thumb, I thought she was playing a violin.
Ginnie Hart: "I'd rather be playing the violin" maybe? grin Thanks, Ray.

I used to fish a lot too and maybe one day we can do it together...when I am retired.
erm....going to work on a Monday morning is NOT my hobby but than before I know (we know) it is weekend again grin.
Great close-up, I am sure she was catching fish, it is loaded in that small canal.
Ginnie Hart: i hate that you have to go to work on Mondays...while I get to stay home. But...I guess we all have to pay our dues. Your time will come soon, I hope. And yes, one day we will go fiahing together!
You've caught her beautifully.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Odd.
This is such a charming image, Ginnie. I love that she is enjoying this simple pleasure so much. Such a beautiful capture, too, with that tumble of hair, and the light catching her from behind. (:o)

I have to say also, that I am loving the Vision and Verb site.
Ginnie Hart: I loved her tumble of hair, Roz, and the simple pleasure on her face. Thank you. V&V is a new site, started in January. We'd love to have you visit and comment. BTW, how old are you?? You could be one of us and be a guest blogger if you're a "woman of a certain age." grin
Such a pretty smile on that gracious gesture! A full picture of the lights of the summer!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Mathilde, for dtopping by and commenting!

This is a lovely study of childhood concentration Ginnie. WORK - never heard of it!
Ginnie Hart: Isn't it funny how far away work seems now that you're retired, Chris! smile I love it for you/us. Thanks.
now that I am going part time...I get Mondays offsmile

Lovely portrait. I will catch up with V&V later
Ginnie Hart: I love it for you, Bill. I wish Astrid could go part-time, too!!!

my husband hates mondays now coz that's when the debt collectors start calling again! the little girl does look happy, i never 'got' fishing, even as a little girl lol lovely portrait!!
Ginnie Hart: I guess there are all kinds of reasons to hate Mondays, Elaine. Poor Mondy...got the short end of the stick! I haven't done a lot of fishing in my life but I must say I know the thrill of catching a nice one on the end of the line. smile Thanks.

Unfortunately I'm dealing with a massive leak and neighbours in denial so... yes I rather be somewhere else at the moment :-(. Great capture Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Uh-oh, Scarlet. Ugh. Hope you get a solution quickly. Thanks for the comment in the meantime.
an emancipated girl, girls at fishing, it is rare

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marion. She sure stole my heart. smile
Wonderful candid portrait Ginnie.
She is nicely concentrated!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. She was clearly in her element! Merci.
over here you do not see many girls fishing, it always seems to be sons and fathers, nice to see, yes she certainly is having fun by the looks of it
Ginnie Hart: Someone else was saying the same thing about girls not fishing, so in that regard, I'm glad it was this girl I saw...and a real cutie at that! Thanks, Derek.
A little girl doing her own thing, a delightful image Ginnie, not unlike Janet's posting to day in mood. Your V.& V.is so true.
Ginnie Hart: I've seen several fishing images the last two days, Brian. It must be that time of the year. smile Thank you kindly.

I very appreciate your wonderful reflections you have combined with some stickers and this picture - you are so right and I remember some words like this "When I'm eating, I'm eating, when I'm sitting, I'm sitting..." encouraging us to live the moments- also the hours of work and daily life..., not 'the holidays are the best time of the year' as somebody likes saying, every day could bring us a little or great pleasure and some 'profit'- I like your picture: Also a girl can love fishing- and how absorbed and attentive is she while preparing herself doing that!
Ginnie Hart: Oh how I love your words, Philine, and especially "When I'm eating, I'm eating, when I'm sitting, I'm sitting..." How very true. I will try to remember that. It's perfect for what I was trying to say in V&V. In fact, I wish you had said it there! smile Hartstikke bedanke!

My son used to do this at this age off a little bridge near our house, two weeks ago he moved out to his own house, I felt he had moved a million miles away, its only 3 lol.smile
This is a gorgeous picture and bought back a few little memoriessmile
Ginnie Hart: I love the memories this brings you, Linda. Thanks for sharing that.
Great shot! Nice portrait!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Kavita. Thank you.
Nice informal portrait, Ginnie - what's that stamp she's got on her arm?
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Tom. It looks like she has a couple of kiddie tattoos...the kind that wash off after a couple days. smile
is there something for diner? no!!!
i will think!!!!
great Ginnie!!!!!
Ginnie Hart: There's always something for dinner, Fabrizio, when you go fishing! smile Grazie.

Start them young, and she looks like she's already a pro at it.

Oh I hate Mondays - this one particularly - I'd rather be home cuddling with my cat.
Ginnie Hart: There was a little girl at her feet watching her every move, Maria (photos on my other blog). I couldn't help but think the little one is learning from the big one...and maybe there was one before who taught this one. The stories are endless and lovely to think up. ) Hopefully this Monday will end up better than it started for you? Take care.
One happy looking young lady Ginnie, well caught.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Les. She stole my heart.
