photoblog image Mont Saint-Michel 1/3

Mont Saint-Michel 1/3

This is Mont Saint-Michel on the north coast of France.

It is supposedly France's second most famous tourist attraction outside Paris.

Astrid and I arrived at 6:30 p.m. and left at 11:15 p.m.  This is my last shot at 11 p.m.

See her shot here from one hour earlier.

Today is my turn again at Vision & Verb.

Wow, Ginnie, just breathtaking. GREAT choice of aperture.
Ginnie Hart: This is what we went for, Alex, to take time-lapsed photos. We were not disappointed. Thanks.

I thought it was Disney World. Silly mesmile
Ginnie Hart: Well, Sherri, it IS like a fairytale, so I understand.
I have seen many pictures of this place, but none at night. Excellent!
Ginnie Hart: It was the night view we most wanted to see and capture, Larry, which is why we purposely went so late. But it didn't get this dark till 11 p.m. and still wasn't totally dark! Thanks.
Very dramatic lighting. Very nice.
Ginnie Hart: The entire place is darn-tootin' dramatic, Mary! Thanks.

Oh...oh...oh. This is absolutely magical!! Looking forward to reading all about it over at v & v!!
Ginnie Hart: I would love to hear you say Oh...Oh...Oh, Marcie. It's a common expression here in Holland, said in a very specific way. I had to laugh picturing you saying it. Thank you. It is definitely an Oh...Oh...Oh experience.

Oh this is gorgeous. Where is this castle represented in French literature? Voltaire? Dumas?
Ginnie Hart: Excellent question, Puna. I had never even heard of this place till just this past year! I just Googled and see some comparisons to Chartres (which I visted years ago). You can be sure I'll pay attention now every time I read about it! Thanks.
That is a beautiful shot, I love the different color lighting.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Brian. It would be a sin to NOT light this place up!
Absolutely dream-like. Very good timing with this shot. Wish I were there!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Stephen, for stopping by and commenting. Welcome to SC, assuming you are new.
Magic.
Ginnie Hart: That's what we thought, Odd. Thanks.

I am glad I saw this in real-life with you, an amazing experience.
A great shot, I was surprised how long it took to be 'completely dark.
Prachtige foto.
Ginnie Hart: We'll never forget it, mijn vrouw. I am so glad we both "saved" it to see with each other. Thank you!

It is nice of you twose to make this comparative postings. Now I can study the difference at leisure. So what did you do the hour in between?

I will not step into it and say which one is best smile
Ginnie Hart: Different is the best word, Louis, because every shot in between from both of us was different as the night got darker and darker. It was quite amazing to watch. I'm guessing each one of took about 20 time-lapsed shots in that hour.

Oh, a dreamy picture!- Mont Saint-Michel at night, the "light in the darkness" we are all longing for- I remember my walk during low tide in the afternoon up to this very impressive, gorgeous ensemble many years ago- an unforgotable experience indeed! (last year I saw its little Brother St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall)
Ginnie Hart: I love that you have seen this with your own eyes, Philine. It's one of the wonders of the world, as far as I'm concerned. One day perhaps we can see Little Brother in Cornwall. We'll have to put it on our list. smile
what is spetacular photo Ginnie, certainly one of the best since I appreciate your photos, this one has a special atmosphere and great light, really, really compliments!!!!!!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Fabrizio. Thank you kindly. Grazie.
Just enough light left in the sky to make this a winner!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Bill. I had wanted to get one when the sky was totally dark but it was already too late and we still had a 45-minute drive back to our B&B.
A beauty of a night shot.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Nigel. It totally met all our expectations.

Amazing sight Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Even more so in rea;l life, Tony! Thank you.
A wonderful capture of this famous place Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Richard. You can be very proud of this attraction in your country!
A wonderful photographic setting. Yours and Astrid's are both very good.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. We loved being there together to see this marvel.
A striking image Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
This is wonderful Ginnie. It looks really magical at night. Beautifully captured
Ginnie Hart: It was totally magical, Janet, especially at night. We were told it's elbow-to-elbow people during the day. But it was quite sparse for us, everywhere we went. Maybe we were lucky? Thanks.

wow, looks like disney land, a fairy tale castle... so pretty!!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Elaine. Exactly.
A beautiful night shot of a beautiful place of a beautiful ...country ;-)
I'm glad to discover again your pics , Ginnie !
Have a nice day
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Jean-Luc. So good to see you again, too. smile
Great long exposure Ginnie!! I love the romantic story behind this one as well, and I have visited the place a couple of times. But then again, I think I have been everywhere in France, being my second favourite country in th world I have visited it over 35 times.

How odd that we both have pictures of rocks in the sea today, and both have a monastery on top!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Marion...especially for connecting our two posts today, which I had not thought of. France is so close to The Netherlands, so I get quite excited about the option of going back again and again. I'd love to see a lot of it!

I can't decide which image I prefer. No... still can't decide. I like them both equally.
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Scarlet. For us there's no competion/comparing and we love it that way. grin
This is a magnificent image Ginnie, a moment for you both to share, and a place I would like to see myself but am sure I never will. Are you aware we have a similar, but slightly less spectacular, place called St.Michaels mount in Cornwall. You can see it here http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-stmichaelsmount
Ginnie Hart: I found out about your "little brother" from Philine today, Brian, but did not know about it otherwise. Thanks for the great link. It's now on my list of places to see before I kick the bucket. smile
Ginnie, I have just seen your other-other blog, and the collages of the very same subject. I am in total awe of the picture in the top right corner in the collage with the guitar player in the middle. I so hope that one is going to be in larger view on this blog!!!
That light is magical!!!
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. Thanks for checking out that other-other blog, Marion. It's where I can show the myriad other images I take that never make it here. It's funny you ask about that one shot because Astrid has one, too, and SHE will be the one showing it (too similar to put them both up). It was a moment that lasted for about a minute and we were so lucky to be in that room exactly at that time. There ARE a couple on that post I will be putting here on SC, yes, but I won't tell you which ones. smile But thanks for your support, which means the world to me.
What a spectacular shot of this majestic place, Ginnie. Simply superb! The starburst of light at the bottom of the image is the icing on the cake for me.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your kind words, Beverly. I almost took out that bottom starlight, so I'm glad I left it in, for you. smile

Does something like that really exist ?????

Great night shot, Ginnie.

What an amazing shot of this place, I have seen many shots of it mostly during the day, but this is by far the most outstanding shot of it I have ever seen
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind and gracious, JJ. Thank you. My image on Wednesday will be during the day, shortly after 6 p.m. It's a totally different feel, for sure.

what a gorgeous night shot of this castle. i'm just wondering how to get to the top. smile excellent ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Liang. You start by going through the entrance and then winding your way up and up through the streets and steps...and suddenly you're there. smile I have a bad hip and leg and was able to make it just fine, with Astrid's help.

Bautiful shot Ginnie...one of the best that i have seen for a while......the 30 second time-laps brought great shades of colour out in the clouds ....all of that put together makes it look like a magical castle.....i even love the starburst flare from the light at the bottom.....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Peter. This was indeed a magical castle, so PI'm delighted the image came out.
