photoblog image A Week of Twiddling 2/3

A Week of Twiddling 2/3

Almost every weekend Astrid and I take a car trip to somewhere here in The Netherlands.
A couple weekends ago we drove to Hoorn on the IJsselmeer, 35 km NE of Amsterdam.

LET OP!  (= Pay Attention)
This is the same basic image as my last one.

(messed around with color-tones, texture, and cloning out the wind turbines to make it look old-timey)

You have achieved your objective in my view. Great image.

The only thing missing is that sratchy old music we heard on the 1950's films.
Ginnie Hart: Whew. Thanks, Brian. smile Now, what would be a good piece of scratchy music for this, I wonder?

Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, Ken, you'll get one more of this image, for sure. smile Thanks.
Ships always make me happy...I don't know why exactly, but I could stare at them all day & sailboats too.
Ginnie Hart: Boats of any kind do that to me, too, Heather. It must be the water. smile Thanks.
Fine work, Ginnie...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Great shot, the vintage feel is so true!
Nicely done
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, FaS. I do appreciate it.

This reminds me of old times, how it used to be 50 years ago....
Clever job on the windturbines...grin
You did a wonderful job and everytime you work on pictures like this I can tell....sparkling eyes... smile
Ginnie Hart: ...back when we were kids, right, MLMA! grin Thanks for noticing the turbines...see, I pay attention. I must say I DO get sparkling eyes when I do stuff like this. It makes me alive. Thanks for noticing. smile
i got that a lot
pay attention
let op
as if my mind
wasn't busy enough
Ginnie Hart: HA! Sometimes when my mind is the busiest I need to pay the most attention, Seraphine. grin
I also like this one, with this treatment this picture looks like an old postal card. Well seen.
A+ VAL smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Valérie. That's what I was going for...an old picture/postcard. Merci.

Very good Ginnie: this could be a century ago
Ginnie Hart: I hope so, Chris. smile Thanks.
Well you got what you set out to do Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Glad to hear you think so, Mick. Thanks.
With the texture, and with the turbines gone, this is timeless.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Odd. That was what I was hoping for.
An old postcard Ginnie! Wonderful outcome.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Richard. Merci.
lovely texture, Ginnie!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Charles.
Good job done Ginnie. It's like something you might find whilst going through your grandparents old photos.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Janet. That's exactly the look I was going for. :

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Cherise. Much appreciated. smile
Ah yes, I adore, sublimate realization, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Big words for today, Roland. smile Merci.
Its worked perfectly Ginnie, most definitely got that old time feel. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Linda. The irony is that we take old photos and try to restore them to their original beauty and now some of us are reversing the process. Weird! smile
Great Shot Ginnie. Love the processing. I see you are doing very well at the Dutch lessons smile
Ginnie Hart: Let's just say I'm learning a lot, Thomas! Sometimes I don't feel I'm doing that well because there's so much I do NOT know. But it sure is stimulating. smile Thanks for stopping by again.

cool! now darken or lighten the corners for extra impact ;-)
Ginnie Hart: You're way ahead of me, Petra...not sure how to do that in PS. I'll have to check it out. Probably some filter I haven't yet tried?? I'm always ready and eager to learn!

This is a gorgeous shot. So nautical!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Puna. The more I'm here in The Netherlands, the more nautical it is becoming to me. There's a LOT of water! smile
Do you have a time machine?smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHA! Don't I wish, Nigel. grin
The improvements have worked very well Ginnie..Great achievement.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

This one really gives the impression of stormy seas. Excellent!!
Ginnie Hart: The water really was choppy, Marcie, because of all the wind. I'm beginning to think The Nethertlands could be the sailing capital of the world for all its water and wind! Thanks.
You have done very well Ginnie, especially taking out the wind turbines.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid was the one who spied the turbines when I first did this, Brian. It was then easy to take them out...but I had to see them first. smile Thanks.
Definitely looks like a dirty old postcard that's been in the desk draw for a hundred years, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: HA! I like that thought, Tom. smile Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Merci, kind sir.
I don't like it at all!
I love it!!!!!!!
Ginnie Hart: Now I'm blushing. Thanks, Marion.
Now I'm not sure which one is better. That must be be because both are superb.
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Albert. Thank you.

I really like this look. It looks like a mix between the modern and the past.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Kanyi. I like that thought.
The grass has turned into a field of mud. This has a nice feel to it Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
The third boat from the left looks a bit modern...it will have to be sunk:d
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'll give you that responsibility, Bill. smile

Lovely image Ginnie, what site do you use for your textures...l have been playing again and would like some more
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Tony. Are you ready? smile Ever so I often I Google for Free Textures and here are a couple links:
http://www.texturewarehouse.com/gallery/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/telzey/collections/72157611317296449/
The second site is one I just started using and you'll see one image tomorrow. I'm really impressed with him. But out of courtesy to him, you need to reference him when you use him. I can live with that! I can't remember whose texture I used for this image today...an old one I had. sad
Excellent image, great color and composition!! Beautiful work Ginnie!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Andrei.

Beautiful Ginnie! I love how this has the old photo found in the attic feel to it.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly what I was going for, Mark. smile Thanks.

You're really great at transforming the times with your textured experiments. I love the image as is, but the post-processed grit brings it to a whole new level. And I may have said this before, but I am a sucker for old things!
Ginnie Hart: I'm a sucker for old things, too, Jess...the older I get. grin Thanks a million.
Oh WOW Ginnie!! Absolutely lovely image...fabulously processed, Great worksmile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. I really enjoy doing this kind of processing.

It is very reminiscent of an old picture postcard.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Cherie. It was fun for me.
A wonderful shot Ginnie! Like an old snapshot from an age-old album. Well done!
(No motorboats!)
Ginnie Hart: No motorboats, inderdaad, Wim. That helped. smile Bedankt.
You have done this before smile I know I sound like an old man saying this, but it's amazing what you can do with software these days...
Ginnie Hart: Software manipulation is almost scary when you think about it, Aksel! grin
Well done again for this wonderful and effective work on layers and textures. Hope you're having a nice trip.
Ginnie Hart: We have a trip coming up tomorrow, Flo, to the south of The Netherlands...Maastricht...and then to Arcen on Sunday to see the castle and gardens there. We are really looking forward to it. Happy weekend to you!
Certainly a significant improvement over the original with the texture applied Ginnie, Nice one.
Ginnie Hart: Glad you think so, Les. It sure was fun to play around. Thanks.
