Today is my turn again at Vision and Verb.
It is also the day I start classes at nearby Da Vinci College to learn Dutch!

Enjoy your first day at school.

This is another fantastic image Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Maria...and thanks again. I'm excited. smile
good luck wit the classes!

beautiful shot!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
You'll be speaking like a native in no time, Ginnie. Fell free to include portraits of your classmates, especially if they are, say, cute Dutch girls. smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'm guessing no Dutch girls OR men will be in my Dutch-learning classes, Larry, unless they're there to teach. In that case, I'll ask if they mind my taking their picture for you. smile
ROFL at Larry! I'm not saying don't do it, though smile

I like this shot a lot; the way the couple is silhouetted against the sky they look so free.

Enjoy your classes!
Ginnie Hart: I told Larry I don't guess there will be any Dutch girls OR boys taking Dutch lessons, unless they're our teachers, but if there are, I will definitely ask. HA! Thanks again, Mark, for your very kind comment.

Fine image, Ginnie.

It would be good if the pace of life slowed down to the cadence of footpedals...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray...and I know what you mean!

Well I"m saying Bon Chance! I can't speak French worth a damn and it doesn't look like I'll learn it any better any time soon. Thank goodness I can add a little sign language and a heap of southern charm ! Can't wait to hear.

Love that photo in almost silhouette.

Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean about the French, Virginia. smile Now Spanish...I can handle that much better. Needless to say, I'm eager to see how it goes, too. I'm sure the time will fly. Thanks.
Good luck, I'm sure it's going to be exciting and new for you and perhaps full of more images to take!
Ginnie Hart: I was thinking that I'll have to take my camera to school one day and ask if it's okay to take pictures. smile Thanks, Jen.

Is it just me, Ginnie, or does life just seem so much (blessedly) simpler over there?
Ginnie Hart: In many ways, it IS simpler, Alex. Riding bikes helps...shops/stores being closed at night and Sundays also helps. You're forced to do other things. And you DO see families of all ages out-n-about all the time. The Dutch LOVE to go outdoors!

A fabulous shot, love the way they are a silhouetted) and yes life is like a journey/roller-coaster if we like it or not we have to keep traveling and make the best out of it, I think you master the journey very well...enjoying every moment of it.
Have fun in class, I know it will be a good journey and I am so proud of you...
Doe voorzichtig op de fiets.
Ginnie Hart: I often say we can do anything for a year (as I have had to do often in the past), so let the games begin! I wouldn't be able to do it without your encouragement and vote of confidence, so HARTSTIKKE BEDANKT, MLMA. I am one of the lucky ones to come back home to a Dutch speaker, who will help me continue my studies. If I don't learn Dutch, shame on me!

looks like a shot that resembles a long journey ahead. great perspective!
Ginnie Hart: I often say you can do anything for a year, Liang. By the time it's done, it will probably feel like a short journey. I hope so. smile Thanks.

Lol. Im with Larry grin
Good luck with school. Beautiful capture
Ginnie Hart: Just maybe I'll get a picture or two one of these days, once I get to know everyone and gain their confidence. smile Thanks, SAVO.
Lovely capture Ginnie.
Enjoy your first day back at school!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Richard. I feel like a little kid again. smile
Great shot
Really nice
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Rob. smile
Good luck on your first week riding to and from school, and at school. Nice image.

Vision and verb - your last two paragraphs really hit home. Who would have known in January this year what fate was going to through at us and how our lives were going to change so suddenly and dramatically. But we cope, and are learning new ways to do things, and new places to walk every day. Life is still an adventure!
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Sheila. We never know what's gonna happen...and maybe that's part of the Journey...NOT knowing. How would we live our lives, I wonder, if we could see ahead of time everything that would happen to us?? I'm glad we only have one day at a time...and the sufficient strength for that one day! Thanks.

have a good first day, don't forget to bring an apple for the teacher smile nice shot, i'm loving these old bikes!!!
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'll do well to remember an apple for ME, Elaine. grin Now I need to go take my shower and get ready!! Thanks for your encouragement.
Have a great first day, Lovely image that goes so well with your title and your day. smile
Ginnie Hart: I've just come back from my very first day, Linda, and it will be a journey I take at my own pace. I race only against myself, which I guess is the good news!?! Thanks.

lovely shot Ginnie, pump up the contrast and you might have a cracking silhouette too smile
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Spark. It is what I'd call a half-baked silhouette. smile Thanks.
This is excellent. The lighting is superb.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Odd. I see you've spent time in Western Michigan, my home state. Where? I have siblings and nephews living in Holland, MI, as well as Grand Rapids. It's a small world, you know.

Enjoy the learning journey
Ginnie Hart: I've just come back from my first day, Vintage, and so far so good! smile Thanks.
I really love the peaceful mood here, a very cool shot bringing a lot... simplicity at its best Ginnie. It often lacks in our world. Coming back to main things (like here)is really delightful and enjoyable.
Did'nt know when I will find time to write something on Vision & Verb... I'm AWFULLY busy... :-[
Have a nice class Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Come to V&V when you can, Flo. You'll be so welcomed, I know. It was a good first day at school...a beginning of many more delightful days to come, I hope! Merci.
It certainly is Ginnie. We make our choices, sometimes right , sometimes wrong. Life has a way of letting you know when it's wrong. hope you settle into your course OK. Love the picture and sentiment
Ginnie Hart: The thing is, it never hurts to start and stop and turn around and go down a different street if that's what Life calls for! Thanks, Janet.

Good luck with the Dutch classes Ginnie!
Hope you'll have loads of laughs pronouncing all the funny words! smile

The picture represents so much of Holland :d
Ginnie Hart: I'm finished with my first day at the computer with headphones, Nadiuska, starting to learn vocabulary and basic everyday phrases. So far so good. smile Thanks.
Love the way you've captured the couple just as they are about to ride across a bridge.

That's certainly fortunate timing for your Dutch course, Ginnie. Wishing you much success on your language journey.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Beverly. I do feel like I've just got on the bridge from here to there! smile
All the best with your new endeavor. The image will look nice on a wall. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your vote of confidence, Ade!

Ginnie Hart: It went well, Brian, as did my second today. Thanks!
School and bike sheds ... memories of a by gone era ;-)

I hope the language lessons aren't all double Dutch ;-)

richard
Ginnie Hart: Double Dutch is something I could handle quite well, Tim, truth be known. In the meantime, I'm having to really concentrate on the other. smile Thanks.
Nice silhouette, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Tom.
Good to start things. It renews your mind and your spirit.
Ginnie Hart: I agree, Albert. And in this case, there's lots of incentive to finish. smile
Excellent picture Ginnie. Simple and graphic just the way that I like them.

Het allerbeste van geluk om Nederlands te leren - (thanks Google)
Ginnie Hart: Thanks to Googlr indeed, George. By now I can usually read most things...but to speak or write them from scratch is something else altogether.
Terrific composition with the bridge in front of them.
Ginnie Hart: Always need somewhere to go, I guess, Michael?! Thanks.
The dutch love travelling on cycles...that;s the way of recognizing them in Suriname:p
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Kavita. The largest number of bikes per capita of any country in the world!

Lovely warm mood in this image Ginnie, such a serene feeling. Good luck with your classes, never to old to learn. Have fun.
Ginnie Hart: The day we stop learning is a sad day, John, but I didn't know I'd ever go back to school again. HA! Thanks.
Such a lovely mood in this beautiful composition Ginnie...I love the tone!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you as always, Pavan.

hoe was het op school
Ginnie Hart: After 2 days, I'm exhausted. grin Having to concentrate like that is really going to help, I'm sure, but all I want to do is take a nap. HA!
I like the silhouette feel here with a tiny bit of details.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Brian. It was the look I was going after...not totally a silhoette but mostly. smile Thanks.
it sure is, and we travel all the way
Ginnie Hart: Today I'm glad we get to take naps along the way. grin
A good catch Ginnie..Nice shot.
Dont forget your L plates!
Ginnie Hart: Speaking of which...I don't think the Dutch have them on their bikes??? Now you've got me wondering....
A fine silhouet! Very Dutch too.
Good luck with the lessons.
(Tomorrow my 2000th photo)
Ginnie Hart: And I thought I was accomplishing something, Wim! grin Gefeliciteerd.
