Dumbo

This is a series from our Country Fair when I took my g'son on October 8.

The first ride we always take is the Ski Lift that traverses the entire Fair in 15 minutes.
The lift spans 1,800 feet and is the longest in the southeast.

That's when we check everything out to see what we want to ride this year.
At age 9, Nicholas looks at rides like this and smiles "in remembrance."
Nowadays, this ride is "beneath" him.

great perspective on this...where were you shooting from?
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Heather. I should have made it clear that I was sitting in a chair on the Sky Lift while taking this shot, looking down while passing over this part of the Fair. So, this ride being "beneath" Nicholas was both literal and figurative! smile

awww what a great shot!!! lol love the little kiddies in the huge pink elephant!!! and yes, looks like you were flying over in a dream lol
Ginnie Hart: It was so fun when Nicholas was only 2 and loved this ride. I'll never forget those early years with him. Back then, however, they did not yet have the Sky Lift at our Fair. It's just been the last 3 or 4 years. Thanks, Elaine.

Ginnie Hart: Seeing this ride makes me realize just how much Nicholas has "grown up!" smile Thanks, Ray.

that is indeed a nice ride to start it off.. you get a nice view too.. smile
Ginnie Hart: The Sky Lift is our favorite ride...even for Nicholas. He loves the vantage point. Thanks, Rian.
beautiful shot! this is the kind of ride i like to take. i've sworn off roller coasters for life. well, until the next time i'm at the amusement park.
Ginnie Hart: Even Nicholas loves this ride, Seraphine. He gets the thrill of the height without having his stomach "tickled," as he says. Also, it's the longest ride of the Fair and therefore a good deal for the money! smile Thanks.

I like this! Cool perspective on this!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Hoi. This is our favorite ride! When we do it round-trip, it's a half hour of relaxing and seeing everything! smile

Small boys do grow up fast MLS we all know that.....
I love the way the boy and girl are holding on tight.....
It must have been great to fly high through the air and be in 'dream-land'.....
I am afraid that our fairs are not that big.
Great shot and POV.
HUMP day.....yeahhhh I almost forgot.. wink
Ginnie Hart: Before you know it, MLMA, they're adults and living their own life! (sigh) Nicholas is at that age when he wants to ride the scary rides but has the sense to know which ones would be TOO scary for him right now. I'm glad...because he'd have to ride them by himself without me! grin This one really is our favorite ride...when we do it round trip, it's 30 minutes of pure relaxation and seeing all the sights! Happy hump day!

My girls were always partial to Dumbo! Lovely shot - and what fun!!
Ginnie Hart: Even Nicholas remembers this one with fondness, Martie. It's so fun to see him grow up from these to the bigger rides...and still know which ones would be too scary. It tickles me that this one, the Sky Lift, is still his favorite ride. Maybe it's because it lasts so long. You get a lot of bang for your buck. smile
This looks as if you were balancing dangerously on the contraption, but I'm sure you weren't ginnie. I bet those two loved it.
Ginnie Hart: The Sky Lift is very secure, Chad, with a nice front bar to hold you in. Besides, I like heights, so there was nothing that felt dangerous. Just had to make sure everything was attached so nothing fell off. smile

Too much fun, what a view Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: It was fun to get a different perspective on this ride, Tony. Thanks.
oh a pink elephant ...now i ask me what i had in my coffee this morning wink
a lovely perspective , so sweet shot

have a nice day Ginnie , well night , with pink dreams
Ginnie Hart: It was so fun to look down from above and see these sweet kids, Jean-Luc. It reminded me of when Nicholas was only 2 and was scared to death of most of the rides. But not this one. He loved it. Merci.

A moment of innocent childhood pleasure captured for ever. The children look as though they have visited the face-painting stand!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: You are so very observant, Ingrid. Indeed. They clearly had visited the face-painting stand. smile Thanks for noticing.

Looks pretty scary to me ;o)
Ginnie Hart: HA! If you think this one looks scary, Mike, just wait. grin
I like the angle from above
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chantal. The Sky Lift is our favorite ride. smile
This is so cute, the tones are lovely, you must have taken it from the ski lift!!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Linda, indeed. It's our favorite ride...partly because it lasts so long and is a good bang for the buck! Thanks.
Quite safe in the Heffalump!!
Ginnie Hart: Very safe in the Heffalump...or the Oliphant! Before long, your Marius will be able to ride it all by himself, Wim. smile

Hhheee,.. as kids get older they want bigger and bette; I'm still the same smile
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Alan! I guess we'd be very concerned if they didn't!?! smile
So cute Ginnie! Nicely captured.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Richard.

Ginnie Hart: Grazie, Fabrizio. smile

Neat perspective, were you riding the ferris wheel when you took this?

Oh Ginnie I read your blogger post. So are you "there" yet?
Ginnie Hart: No, Maria, I was on the Sky Lift passing over this ride. You grab whatever you get. smile

And NO, I'm not "there" yet but almost...end of November. It'll be here before I know it!
A great title Ginnie...This looks fun for the kids. Very nice.
Ginnie Hart: Very calm and sedate, Ron. grin I remember when Nicholas had such a worried look on his face that first fair when he was 2. I'll never forget it.

fabulous shot Ginnie . Lovely light and beautiful treatment !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Mariana.
Sounds like quite a big fair Ginnie, this is nicely spotted.
Ginnie Hart: Compared to what I've seen in Europe, Brian, this would be considered huge. You'll see as this series goes along!

What a great vantage point and once again with the delicious colors.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Sherri!
It must have been a really big fair, i've never been to one that had a ski lift that took you around the whole fair. Nice shot here Ginnie, a good capture of youth.
Ginnie Hart: The Ski Lift has been new for us for only the last 3 or 4 years, Brian. They leave the poles up all year 'round, which helps, I'm sure. It's been the best addition ever, IMHO. We love it...our favorite ride...and the best deal for the money. Thanks.
lol. i love having my stomach tickled. it's when my head starts spinning...
Ginnie Hart: Actually, you're quite right, Seraphine, and that's a good distinction. Nicholas and I find that when we look at each other on those rides and don't take our eyes off each other, we usually do okay. Otherwise, I truly believe I'm gonna black out!
superbe photo
Ginnie Hart: Merci, O-P.

haha, Nicholas being your grandson? That's hilarious, I can see him saying, "That ride's for kids" smile I love the color pink in this shot, I'd like a dress in that color!
Ginnie Hart: Pretty in pink, Mia, for sure. smile And yes, Nicholas is at that age when this ride is only for kids!

Superb POV. A funny lovely shot.
Ginnie Hart: Grazie, Pernilla. :0
Glad for the explanation re: your perspective. I had a vision of you hanging on to a center pole, trying to balance while you took the photo.

It's really a wonderful shot - and look how relaxed their hands are!
Ginnie Hart: Every fair should have a Sky Lift, Linda! You see things in a new light, of which this image is an example. Thanks for noticing.
