The Sound Barrier

This is a series from the NASCAR race here in Atlanta over our Labor Day weekend.

How many of you told me to NOT forget my earplugs!
I didn't.  Mine were just like these.  THANK GOD I HAD THEM.
The sound barrier was definitely shattered!

I learned my lesson early on as well. I guess this is the not so widely known part that goes with being a Nascar fan!
Ginnie Hart: I'm not sure I would have thought of earplugs if someone hadn't mentioned it, Jen. But my friend thought ahead, too, and had an extra pair for me...ones just like these that can hang around your neck when they're not in.
I have never been to Nascar but this shot gives me a feeling of being there. Like the composition, the bit of track is key. Well done!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ed, for stopping by and commenting. That means a lot. I was glad to visit your own site and see what you have done photographically.

Wise move. I would think that some enterprising people would sell this either outside or inside the venue.

Happy weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Hmmmm. And maybe they do, Maria? I never checked at the merchandise stands to see what they were selling other than shirts, hats, etc. Happy weekend to you, too.
So this is called "fun", Ginnie? smile No wonder they do a lot of shouting; they can't hear what's being said, otherwise. The cap says it all.
Ginnie Hart: You absolutely can NOT hear what anyone is saying during the race, Alan. You have to wait till the yellow flag is out, seriously! You go inside your own little world....
VERY good shot Ginnie, a little slice of nascar life that smile
Ginnie Hart: A slice of life I never thought about before that race, Elaine! I really got my education! Thanks. smile

what do you say....what.....WHAT...W H A T....I cannot hear you I am wearing earplugs....
Great close-up and this says it all, he is prepared.
Wonderful DOF and I love the little black looped rope in his neck.
Once I was at a Formule-1 race and I never knew the sound would come 'behind' the car...wow..I could feel it in my stomach.
Happy weekend.......tongue
Ginnie Hart: HA! You got it exactly right, Astrid. You can NOT hear what anyone is saying. I think Bob tried to tell me many things that I never heard but I smiled anyway. grin That "looped rope in his neck" held a little sleeve for his ticket, as I recall. A lot of people had them. Bob carried ours in his pocket...which is what pockets are for, if you're not afraid of pick-pockets! TGIF. Happy sewing, MLMA!

Loving your candid take on this "sport", Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. This side of things was the most interesting part for me! smile

That looks really deep inside his ears. Can you hear again after that? :p Lovely candid
Ginnie Hart: Yes, thankfully, SAVO, you can hear after all that. I had no problems whatsoever, thanks to the earplugs! Thanks, as always, for your comment.

In all of the photo of this event the men are unshaved is this a requirement?
Ginnie Hart: Of the ones who sat around me, Vintage, apparently! smile
le détail essentiel! l'oreillette
Ginnie Hart: Absolutely essential, O-P, for sure. I'm glad someone warned me ahead of time!

I can imagine the noise must be unbearable...
Ginnie Hart: It makes you wonder if they'd ever try to make a noiseless NASCAR race?? Maybe no one would come??

More details yet. Superb image stolen
Ginnie Hart: These were the details I loved more than the race itself, Oscar. Merci.
I think i'll stick to cricket Ginnietongue
Ginnie Hart: You stick to cricket and I'll stick to football, Bill. I agree!

Great shot Ginnie, l can imagine the noise was unbearable without them
Ginnie Hart: You're right, Tony. I wonder if they do that on purpose?? Part of the ethos of the sport?!

Doesn't that mean that you wouldn't be able to hear what anyone was saying to you?! Looks like you were breathing down this guy's neck! Great detail.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Ingrid. Not a word! You had to wait for the yellow flag (when someone had an accident). The guy was sitting in front of me, so he was close, yes. wink Thanks.

Lol at some comments- yes, you have 'depictured' what cannot be depictured by photographs: hellish sounds, noise, lawaai, spektakel, Krach, Geknatter! Or has the man put in his MP-3 Player 'earplugs' listening to music being louder than all cars?
You have chosen a ggod angle/perspective and toning!
Een fijn en rustig weekeind togewenst van Philine; we hebben morgen een nationale feestdag: 3 Oktober!
Ginnie Hart: Later I will show someone with earphones, Philine, listening to the race on the radio while watching...getting all the details from the commentator's perspective. So it shoots 2 birds with one stone. But these you see here are only earplugs. And they work well because I had the same. Danke.

Thanks for the weekend greetings, while Astrid sews and gets stuff ready for the apartment and I pack my 2 TruckPacks for the move:
The noise on ovals must just be unbearable! Well observed Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: You actually get used to it, Richard, as long as you have your earplugs in! smile Merci.
Pity those who did not have them Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I would assume they're deaf by now, Chad! sad
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bhavesh!

This sounds like hell - why would you do this? Pardon, sorry Ginnie you will have to speak up ;o)

Good photogrpah mind you!
Ginnie Hart: HAHA! It's not my idea of having fun, Mike, but I'm sure glad I did it at least once. I sure got my education. grin Thanks.

A must have on any race. One can see how concentrated he is on whats going on at the track.
Ginnie Hart: A must have indeed, Frida. I would be deaf now if I didn't have mine!
Ha..is that a hearing aid !! I cant imagine why, or just ear plugs. A well detailed image Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Ust earplugs, Ron, and mine were exactly the same color. Thanks. smile
I used to work on the grid at Motorcycle races way back then and when they all took off at the start ear plugs were needed, except we didn't have them. Another well observed shot Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: And your ears are okay now, Brian??? Sorry, what did you say?? grin Thanks.

Great shot! The detail is fantastic!
Ginnie Hart: It's certainly worth a try, Krista...and might send a message? grin Thanks.
Excellent picture of the noise!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Pernilla. smile

Have you noticed how "country" all those fans are in your shots?

I've never been to a NASCAR race despite living here for 15 years! Now I know who those crazy drivers look like roamming up and down GA 400! They probably all live up North I recon... smile
Ginnie Hart: Country, redneck, Bible Belt...you name it, Ti. YES. I've noticed! smile I never would have gone to this race if my best friend's husband hadn't invited me. How could I say NO! I knew it would be an educational experience for me and the chance of of lifetime!

Hope you're now in bed! grin

That's creativity at its best Ginnie, this is a cool image to depict a NASCAR race.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Thomas. It was much more interesting than the race itself!
I think it has a wonderful light and great imagination. A greeting.
Ginnie Hart: Muchas gracias, Ricardo, for stopping by and commenting.
Una captura impresionante.

Ginnie Hart: Muchas gracias, Bernardo.
The Nascar FOUNDATION? Who knew? Now I'll have to go googling to see what they do. I'll bet there are a lot of folks involved with the sport who contribute a good bit of time, energy and money to worthy causes.
Ginnie Hart: You piqued my interest as well, Linda, and this is one of the links I found:
Wow! Who would have known...if it hadn't been for that cap!
