DUH!  What else would it be on???

A couple weeks ago I mentioned that I was invited to my first ever NASCAR race here in Atlanta.

Intriguing Ginnie. I see you've got your saturated colour back!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Chris! This was converted to B&W, then selective-colored, and then a texture overlaid on top. It was the only way it ended up being halfway interesting to me. grin

like the different processing, and i always do like a picture of a good american sign lol
Ginnie Hart: This sign was constantly rotating, Elaine, so I had to wait till it got to the side I wanted...with NASCAR on speed. smile As I told Chris, I converted this to B&W, then selective-colored it, and then overlaid it with the texture. You know me...can't leave anything alone for long! (sigh!)

Great opening to the series, Ginnie.

Its like a caricature, perhaps highlighted by a filter?
Ginnie Hart: Good eye as always, Ray! Yes....first a conversion to B&W, then selective coloring and then a texture on top. Couldn't leave good enough alone. grin Thanks.
So who's your favorite driver? Or will we find out later? smile
Ginnie Hart: I don't really know enough about NASCAR to have a favorite, Larry, but those who do, DO! There were as many different favorites as there were people sitting around us. It was quite amazing. At the end of this series, however, you'll see who won this particular race. I had never even heard of him. grin
Haha nice one. I really like the PP on the colors on this shot.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Brian. This was another fun one for me...very simple but fun. smile

Excellent! I am looking forward to seeing this series of yours. And this is so creative, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Don't expect to see any racing cars, Kay! sad They ended up seeming a bit ho-hum, if you know what I mean. The people-watching was what was so fun! smile Thanks.
great processing on this...love the light texturing around the ends.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Heather. It was fun to add the texture because otherwise it seemed so blah!

My elder brother was always on about the Naxca Lines for some reason or other and was surprised when no-one else in the family had heard of them - except me, I told him that I knew all about Nascar smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Good for you, Alan, because you probably know more than I do! smile

.....wink....well it is a men's world and I think they need sometimes more explaining....erm....gringrin
This is just wonderful love what you did with the picture, I read the reply to Chris and I do know what you mean....
http://www.speedtv.com/
After a google I found out it is TV Channel for 'fast moving objects' I can just see a lot of people 'glued to the tube'
and all their speed will be in commercials breaks, running back and forth to the fridge for beer.....
Have a nice day MLS doe voorzichtig onderweg en alsjeblieft geen 'speeding' voor jou tongue
Ginnie Hart: That's a great link, MLMA! I can't believe I didn't even look for it. Oh well...leave it to YOU! grin You would have been surprised how many women were watching in the stands...as many as the men...and drinking their beer with the best of them! HA! As with all sports, you can see more at home on TV because of the close-ups and replays. But there's nothing quite like the ethos of the game in actually being there...at least once in your life! Bedankt. And YES, I'll be careful today. You, too.

Nice start Ginnie, pp is great
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Tony. It made sense to me to start here. grin
Nice twiddle Ginnie...I'm looking forward to this series
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bill. I sure hope I don't disappoint you because you won't see many racing cars! sad
Kept it simple then Ginnie, nice processing, certainly adds to the picture.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Les, for your vote of confidence.

'Cool' sign!! Having never been to a car race myself - I'll look forward to seeing your 'series'.
Ginnie Hart: Just don't be disappointed, Marcie, if you don't see many cars! smile Thanks.
Your processing on the shot is interesting. I am curious about the photos to follow.
Ginnie Hart: There's that word "interesting!" grin But thanks anyway, Wim. Be more prepared for people-watching than the race itself.
A lovely twiddle my little turtle dove.
Ginnie Hart: OMG, Mick. My ex-husband was the last person who ever called me that! grin You just made my day. HA!

Excuse my ignorance but what's NASCAR?! Is it like Formula 1? I like the treatment here anyway.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ingrid. You're in the same ballpark, but NASCAR is a stock car (with a roof) while Formula 1 is an open car. If you go to this link and click on the separate tabs, you can see the difference.

Hooray! I've been wondering what happened to your NASCAR picture Ginnie. This is a good opener, I look forward to the rest. (I'm a bit of a petrolhead in reality smile)
Ginnie Hart: As I've told others, Brian, I hope I don't disappoint you because my series is not really about the stock cars per se. I'm afraid I did more people watching. grin But thanks anyway.

et en dessous, il y a quoi ?
Ginnie Hart: If I understand your question, Rem, this was outside the race track, just standing on the ground outside where all the people were milling around at the merchandise stands! Merci.
What a great photo - it perfectly captures all the boredom of NASCAR! And I love Astrid's comment about people "speeding" back and forth during commercial breaks.
Ginnie Hart: HA! That Astrid has it all down pat, Linda! grin It was a great place for people watching, truth be known...just like all sports, I'm sure! Thanks for stopping by again.

Ginnie Hart: I guess it IS like an illustration, Rhys. Thanks!
You're introducing new ways into your work but still with the same old quality.
Ginnie Hart: I don't always get to add a texture, Albert, but when I can, I do! smile Thanks.
