A big Happy birthday to Astrid. She deserves a very special day. Almost makes me wish I'd gone with my first choice for today (the outside of the windmill).
But she will know I was thinking of you both.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Aussie, she will know, as do I. It's a significant milestone. Maybe now she'll be able to find senior housing quickly!

Big round turtles...big round knots...such unusual birthday symbolism...Astrid must be a special person!
Ginnie Hart: Let's just say she's a well-rounded person, Ray. smile Thanks. She'll like that.

Lieve schat, tongue thank you so much for this wonderful post, I feel honoured, so honoured.
Yep, 55 and still going strong....I still have that big grin on my face, what a way to start the day!
KSK, talk to you tonight.
Wonderful picture, I am glad the turtle just sat there quietly and waited for you to get the camera..... wink
Ginnie Hart: That turtle had no idea it would be put out there for the world to see. grin But she knew to put her best face forward and sat there very still for the longest time. I was in heaven. This is a big milestone for you, MLMA. Let's see what good comes from it! Tot straks.

(I know it is a silly Dutch habit, but: congratulations for you too!)
Ginnie Hart: I love your "silly Dutch habits," Wim. Soon I will learn them all. smile Bedankt.
A great shot Ginnie, quite how you came up with this idea I just can't fathom but it seems to have gone down well with the lady in question.
Ginnie Hart: It's fun to honor someone who is so dearly loved, Brian. It makes it easy, doesn't it?!! Thanks for your own part, which I know means the world to her.

LOL No problems with blur on this image ;o) I suspect poor Astrid is quite a bit faster evne carrying a house on her back ;o)
Ginnie Hart: She is faster than the wind, Mike, even with a house on her back. smile This is an important milestone because she is now eligible for senior, more affordable housing. It's taken forever for her to find/get an apartment. Maybe now it will happen quickly?!

Interesting comparison. A few traits of the turtle that Astrid is not:

1. She is not slow
2. Her nails are more of a regular length

smile
Ginnie Hart: 1. She CAN be slow, Louis, if she needs to be cautious...almost to a fault. smile
2. You are absolutely right about her nails--much more appealing than these. grin

WOW! Absolutely amazing. You must have been lying on your belly to capture this guy at 'eye-level'. Gorgeous color and detail.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Marcie, I WAS lying on my belly! How did you know? grin Thanks!
The details on this animal are amazing. I've never seen any of these in real life, so thanks for this close-up!
Ginnie Hart: If you've never seen one in real like, Tosin, it's my great pleasure to show this to you! Thanks.

Happy birthday, Astrid, and great picture, Ginnie!

PS. I want an aardvark pic on my birthday! smile
Ginnie Hart: Now if I only knew where to find one...and when your birthday is, Larry!!! grin
Lovely portrait - all the details and a great tone - super shot!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Thomas. I don't get to see these very often so when I found him on the sidewalk a couple feet away from my front porch, I was in heaven.
