Monday Morning Masquerade

Every time I see this bird, I Laugh Out Loud!
(as seen in Sydney Harbour, Australia, a year ago)
Hopefully someone will know what it's called?
[It's the Masked Lapwing
or Plover, native to Australia.]

Maybe I shouldn't have added texture...but I did.
I was looking through my Monday-Morning mask!  :)

smile and now it's my turn to laugh. what a portrait, Ginnie. This would be treasured by its kids, if the birdie had a family photo album. smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHA, Viktor. Now that I know this is called the Masked Lapwing, I'm laughing even harder! grin

Lovely shot Ginnie... one of the most unique of this bird... it's the Masked Lapwing or Plover native to Australia. smile
Ginnie Hart: WOW! So I had it pegged right and didn't even know it, Hamilton. Thanks for your valuable info! smile

I agree with Ken, the Ginnie style is so easy to see. And love, too! This is a likey.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Kay. It is very intriguing, isn't it, that we can put images with photographers now. I love it! Thanks.

It made me laugh out load too, I know it is not nice to make fun of somebody, that Lapwing will make fun of me too when he sees me, I have no doubt about that
Great texture, I can tell you have lots of fun with it.
I sure hope to dickens that my eyesight is better when I put off my M-M-Mask.

Geweldige foto en ik vind jouw foto mooier dan in de Wikipedia. IHVJ
Ginnie Hart: You made my day, Musketeer! I think I will try to add my "normal" images to Wiki, if I can figure out how. Mine are more up close and personal, that's all. Ontzettend bedankt.

I personally think it's a perfect image for texture. You did a fine job on it too. I like it.
Ginnie Hart: As I think about it, Sherri, it gives it more of an extinct look. grin Thanks.
je suis surpris
c'est très beau
Ginnie Hart: It's one of those things in the natural world that brings us back to our comic senses, O-P, right?! smile

This bird certainly drew the short straw.

very nice Ginnie, l started playing with textures but finding the balance isn't easy, well done
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. This is my second one, so I know I have a lot to perfect. But I do appreciate your vote of confidence.
The texture is great, and the bird is hilarious and it looks like it knows (or suspects) that too wink
Ginnie Hart: Don't you wonder if these birds have any clue whatsoever what they look like?!! grin

I love the way you have made this look just like a portrait. I think what makes him look comical is the puffed up body on those stick thin legs with the knobbly knees, but perhaps he is known as a bit of a looker in bird circles!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: HA! He is definitely a looker, Ingrid. The more I think of the texture, I realize it added a feeling of extinction for me...which this bird seems on the verge of! smile

What a strange looking bird, and not just the wierd mask. The long legs, bulky body, underpowered wings and no neck. A bit of an evolutionary short straw - but makes a great photograph ;o)
Ginnie Hart: Everything about it seems so very comical to me, Mike. Someone sure had fun creating it! grin

It's a Plover, Ginnie...a fine bird, and fully deserving of the care you have taken to show it so meticulously.
Ginnie Hart: I know I have seen it before on SC, Ray, but couldn't remember the name. I'm sure you're well-acquainted! smile Thanks.

Hahaha- he looks a bit wise- like a Marabu? I think he or she knows more than we all! This bird could be the mascot of SC because he/she shut(ter)s and opens his/her eyes every time! And he/she likes twiddles, because our birdie - friend has just become aware of your wonderful-funny processing!
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA, Philine. You tickle me to death. I love your sense of humor. Ontzettend bedankt.
What a great capture Ginnie. It made me laugh too. You did a nice pp job here!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Richard. We all need to start Monday with a good laugh! grin
This texture experiment works perfectly!

Wonderful treatment Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Aussie. I was thinking "extinct" when I used the texture. HA!
The texture adds to the comical portrait of this bird.
Ginnie Hart: HA! More like extinct, right, Bill? grin
What a comical looking bird..Im glad the comments told me what it is. Textures!..I see you getting good at this Ginnie. Well done.
Ginnie Hart: It was another fun chance to try something new, Ron. smile I guess you can say I'm game!
wow...I'm in awe over this. This is the greatest shot ever. You need to make this into a giant poster or something...love it!
Ginnie Hart: HA! Can't you imagine this staring you in the eye every morning when you wake up! grin
I think this PP is marvelous. Makes the look of a comic old professor. Love it a lot.
Ginnie Hart: A "comic old professor." I really like that thought, Mary! smile Thanks.
This really is a strange looking bird Ginnie, I like the use of the texture though, especially in the base.
Ginnie Hart: Someone sure had a sense of humor, Brian. smile

Definitely family of this one http://louis.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Some_birds_do_/ which is a African Wattled Lapwing.

I believe the texture works well. Shades of the old travellers drawings that first described and named the birds in places like africa. Excellent picture.

You do masks? Wow.
Ginnie Hart: I KNEW I had seen this before on SC, Louis, and fully suspected it was you! Thanks for the link here. And yes, I do Masks quite well. grin
Awesomely stunning capture and work here Ginnie smile

P.s
Someone seems to be editing her images a lot more these days :p
Ginnie Hart: Awwww, thanks, S&S. Not sure I'm doing more...just different from my norm, that's all. Sometimes I just have to switch it up. grin
A strange looking bird it is!!
I like the texture you added to it Ginnie. Very nicely done.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, DD. This one was very fun for me. smile

I really like the texture you added and the bright yellow color. I likey this one Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Magnus. Thank you.
I love the natural colours of the bird Ginnie and your textural overlay or what ever it's called. richard
Ginnie Hart: I think you got it, Richard...and thank you. It's a fun, new "toy" for me, adding textures (as opposed to filters from PS). smile
Great processing of a beautiful shot Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir!

I'm laughing out loud. What an outfit if I could look like that at Halloweeen. "You go girl!"
That is so very, very unique! And I like the textured look.
Ginnie Hart: If you ever look like that at Halloween, Bob, let me know. I want to see a picture of it. grin Thanks a million.

Very nice shot, I think it was a great idea that you incorporated a texture to this. It would look great on canvas. I've been experimenting with textures lately also and its fun.
Ginnie Hart: Adding texture is a whole new world for me, Brian. Once I figured it out, I look for places to use it everywhere now. smile Thanks for your vote of confidence.
That is the strangest dude I have ever seen.
Ginnie Hart: I ditto that, Michael. I'm still laughing. grin
love those long legs
Ginnie Hart: I do, too, Chantal. It makes you wonder how they can hold up such an "excessive" body!

You got it in a awesome headon pose Ginnie. The texture gives it a dated feel or as though its been scanned from slide.
