Looking Ahead

From the "Cowboy at Rest" bronze statue (original miniature by Solon Borglum)
in the Courthouse Plaza of Prescott, Arizona, as seen in late November.

"In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength."
(Isaiah 30:15)

This is my mantra for 2009.

What an amazing strength is in this sculpture. It matches well with the Isaiah verse.
Ginnie Hart: That strength is what I need, Larry! Thanks.

Very appropriate sentiment for a sculpturer - hope it helps you work your way thro' the year.
Ginnie Hart: I do, too, Mike! Thanks. The quietness part is what I need to work on...even more than the confidence, believe it or not.
Nice texture Ginnie. Regards From Yogyakarta City Indonesia //
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bram.

I love your mantra. It so perfectly resonates with me...and is so very true. Wonderful image to accompany the words. He is the epitome of strength.
Ginnie Hart: That mantra has been mine off-n-on all my life, Marcie, but now more than ever. The quietness part is what I most need help on! I'll just try to picture this image when I need it....
Everything seems to indicate that it is a statue except his glance. It seems real!
Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean, José Angel. I have a feeling 2009 will be like that, sometimes real and sometimes not! smile

Nice closeup -- the tones look great. Perfect match of sculpture and scripture!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Argos. It felt like a "perfect match" for me, too. I know I'll draw strength from it often this year.

I like it both the photo and Mantra.I may have a little trouble with the Quietness myself
Ginnie Hart: I always have trouble with the quietness part, Vintage, which is probably why this is my mantra year after year. Maybe THIS year it'll start to sink in?

Cowboy at rest, reflects the same qualities as our Australian stock men, love the shadow effect
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Zed! Our western cowboys are very similar to yours. I like the comparison. And welcome again to SC! Glad to have another Aussie on board. smile

Very good...I especially like the hat.
Ginnie Hart: I like the hat, too, Sherri. smile Thanks.
The shadow play here is superb, and the sculpture is wondefully done. First class, Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, dear Paul. I hope you're off to a fantastic new year!

'jullie kracht is stil vertrouwen'
This to me is a very soulful picture, the structure is amazing, the shadow over his face says it all, confidence we will have, no matter what.
Geweldige foto lieve vriend, great close-up.
Ginnie Hart: Confidence is usually the easy part for me, lieve vriend. The quietness is what I need to work on! Strength is there for the taking, so I reach out for it, one day at a time. Ontzettend bedankt!
Happy New Year Ginnie, and all the best for 09.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Fotografa. This year is going to be a spectacular year on so many different levels around the world. I feel it in my bones. smile

Love the powerful strong image Musketeer.
Ginnie Hart: I just noticed my 600th last night when this posted, Tracy (here on Atlanta time). It makes a great way to start this new year, don't you think?! smile Thanks for being mijn lieve vriend this past year. I expect nothing less from you this year. All for one and one for all, Musketeer!
Very powerful Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Chris. It's powerful for me as well.

Incredible shot Ginnie ... perfect sharpness as always .. you have pixels in your blood. ;-)
Ginnie Hart: HA! I like that, Klaus...pixels in my blood. smile Thanks for that image.
A good image to go with your 2009 motto!
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, lieve Wim. Let's see what 2009 has in store for all of us! I'm expecting much light at the end of the tunnel for much of the world.

This might be a very good motto for life! It may bring inner peace and happiness! It is an impressive face full of a beautiful seriousness and experience and calmness! Yes, I like to look at him for some time!
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Philine, it IS my motto for life, year after year. Quietness is especially what I need, often more than confidence. I have a feeling 2009 will be a momentous year for many all over the world.

This sculpture certainly exudes a strong sense of presence. A good mantra to choose for the year ahead Ginnie - I'm not sure I would be able to keep to the quietness part though!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: The quietness part is what I usually struggle with the most, even more so than confidence, Ingrid. It's a Gemini thing for me! There is so much uncertainty this year for me but I am determined to face it head on and stare the tiger in the eyes!
Bravo Ginnie ! I like this kind of shot with great details on a sculpture !
Ginnie Hart: Merci, dear Zeb. It just felt right. smile
I like the shadow fall on the hat
Ginnie Hart: It definitely shows what the hat is useful for, Chantal. smile Thanks.
Superb capture Ginnie. Details and lighting are amazing.
Congrats for you 600th post!
Ginnie Hart: I didn't realize it was my 600th, Richard, till it posted. Since it's my first of the new year, it feels like a good way to start. smile
Very cool snap. Nice work Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Sarthak. Thanks.
He looks a little weary, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean, Chad. I can totally identify. smile

A great picture of this statue. It does go with the quoted verse.

I will confess that I have this mind picture of you busy walking and talking with the ponytail (whatever the proper english for the hair style)bobbing and weaving at the back of your head. Now I have to try and imagine you not talking smile
Ginnie Hart: Precies, Louis. See what I mean?!!!! The funny thing is that the confidence part is usually easy for me. It's the quietness part that needs work! That's very hard for a Gemini!!!
I saw this on your other blog but on here, the thumbnail looks like a real person in sepia. About your quote. Please don't be too quiet. We still want our Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: You are very kind, Mary. I don't think anyone who knows me will ever worry about me being too quiet! We Gemini do like to talk. When I AM quiet, too quiet, people wonder what I'm thinking. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. smile

Looks a bit like Clint Eastwood was the model, Ginnie, except the artist gave him a smile instead of a scowl.

Brilliant image.
Ginnie Hart: HA! You got that right, Ray. Come to think of it, I can hardly picture what Clint looks like with a smile!
Looks a bit like a cross between Henry Fonda and Steve McQueen.

I like the mantra but I could never do quiet.
Ginnie Hart: There you go, Bill. Either sounds good to me! smile And trust me, the reason why it's my mantra is precisely because I need to learn "quiet!" smile I do pretty well with confidence, thankfully, once I have a direction in place.

Love the quote and it is a very fitting quote with this image. Well captured!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Frida. It seemed appropriate for the beginning of this new year and where I am right now!
Confidence and perseverence can work miracles. Nice pic matching the thought very well Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Albert. It's the quietness part that I often need the most work on!

elegant capture for a gentleman or cowboy- the hat makes the picture- or your framing!
Ginnie Hart: Your words are very kind, Vera. Thank you.
And a very good mantra too Ginnie. A very impressive bit of sculpture and you have captured lts of lovely detail.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Brian. Thank you.

I too, came back for a second comment. The second look reinforces how much the cowboy's fingers look like rivers.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart. Larry. I've been looking at those fingers a long time. I think there's a code in there somewhere. grin Thanks.

Happy New Year Ginnie, I have started the year with computer problems, but they are only minor gliches in the great scheme of things. Hope this year is the year for dreams to come true.
Fantastic capture. Agree with Zed it could be the Australian stockman.
Ginnie Hart: Ah, yes, Aussie. The great scheme of things. Tell me about it. smile I do believe this is the year for dreams and change. I'm counting on it. Thanks. smile
Beautiful capture. Composition is excellent and the lighting is perfect, I love the way the shadow cuts across his face. He looks deep in thought.
Ginnie Hart: Deep in thought and yet relaxed, Silas. It's the relaxed part I need to learn!

Ginnie Hart: Strength is what I need, Cliff, because I am going through a divorce. Strength and confidence and lots of quietness! Thanks.
