My mind must not be dirty enough tonight--all I see are rubber bands wink Wonderful grainy texture.
Ginnie Hart: I guess that means you're not Dutch, Larry, but you already knew that, so, see, you have nothing to worry about. smile

I thought you are in Amsterdam? I have to say like Larry :"Sorry, my mind is not dirty enough", perhaps I would lift up these "Gummile" and take them with me, I can always use them!
Ginnie Hart: HA! You're more Dutch than most, Philine, so I guess I can tell you that "rubbers" is the term we use for condoms in America...and often we DO see them lying on the sidewalk like this! grin

well seen Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Paul!
I don't like calamari, Ginnie. Tastes like rubber bands to me. Did these fall off of Astrid's van?
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHA! Wait, I'll ask Astrid....she says "JA!" Her van is so old it's held together by runbber bands that are always falling off!!! grin
Nicely processed. I love the crispiness of the shot as well!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Abisola!

I had to laugh at Larry because I thought the same thing, until I read vintage's. Yes, some call rubber bands just 'rubbers,' yes?
Ginnie Hart: HA! I wonder if other countries call condoms "rubbers," Ruth, and if they also find them discarded on the sidewalk in certain places of their cities (like we do in Atlanta)?

....erm..a dirty mind is a joy forever ....erm.......a pretty girl is a toy forever...according to Astrid grin..
@ Chad...No they did not fall of my van...tonguetongue
Ginnie Hart: Leave it to you, Astrid! grin Those sayings will forever live in my mind from this day forward!
We've got a nice pile of rubberbands just to the right of our front door where Mr Postman has kindly discarded them!
Ginnie Hart: What's funny, Bernie, is that just this trip back to AMS I brought with me a whole bunch of rubber bands from all the wrapped-up mail from home. They come in handy, you know. smile
Ha! Ha! If this is your idea of erm, rubbers, Ginnie, then maybe you should come over here and I'll explain. *wink* But seriously, what is it with postmen, they all do this. I collect them...rubbers, not postmen! smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHA! Well, exactly, Alex. grin I guess that's why I love the saying so much. It's a good one!
I appreciate your wonderful textures and tones in this intriguing composition, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. smile

And to think that I always pictured the Dutch as very clean, conventional and bourgois! Love the texture in this. smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! I am always surprised by the Dutch, Mary. grin Thanks.

Well spotted, well captured and nicely toned Ginnie. And I think its so funny that I just thought it was my postman that dumped rubber bands all over the place but it turns out they do it all over the world!!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Padraig. Some things must be universal. smile Thanks.
A bit of fun today, Ginnie..lol..lovely textures and tones.
Ginnie Hart: If we can't take a joke, Bridge, we might as well be dead! smile Thanks.

.....shows how my mind works, I was looking at the one on the right and seeing an image of an unfertilised egg under the microscope. You know when the eggs separate and they stick a needle in to take a sample......

Solar system planets....textures and cracks....

Oh, blow all that! I'll give in and go with the naughty connotations of rubbers...ha ha smile
Ginnie Hart: LOL, Paul! Join the crowd. grin Thanks.
I suspect the only Dutch person who grew up with that saying is Astrid! This picture should be banned. (Rubber band...maybe not...have a great day)
Ginnie Hart: Astrid would tell you otherwsie, Bill. When I first questioned her, she started asking around and everyone said the same thing. OF COURSE they'd heard the saying before! Who hadn't??? HA! So, we who are on the older side of things just got our education. I love it. smile

I tried and tried and tried to post a comment last night and couldn't post to any of the shutterchance blogs. I was going to say, "You're a hoot, Ginnie" ....love the pavement in sepia.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it was apparently a big "issue" for SC but I see they straightened it all out. Thank you kindly, Sherri, for coming back to check. That means a lot.

And BTW, if we can't take a joke, we might as well be dead! smile
Congratulations for making a shot out of almost nothing Ginnie, I would have just picked the bands up like I do the red ones our postman leaves on our drive.
Ginnie Hart: I know, Brian. I don't usually pay attention to such things but these just caught my eye, for some strange reason. smile

Oh Ginnie - Such fun comments. I think the Aussies call erasers "rubbers". You can't imagine the reaction our young CPA friends got when they came to work in L.A. and asked the lovely, young recptionist if she had one they could borrow. Great photo! Love Brian's comment.
Ginnie Hart: Oh how fun, Judy! ENGLISH! Don't you just love it! smile
A beautiful shot and you brought a smile to my face.
Ginnie Hart: I love it when we all can smile, Michael. smile Thanks.
I think I can confidently speak for all Phillipses on S/C and say WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT A DIRTY MIND IS!

Snigger...
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Once I meet you both, soon, I'll see if I can attest to that, Chris! grin
So, once again there is proof I will live forever...cause dirty is an understatement in my case.
Love the texture in this shot!

ps: I'm a Surinamese Dutchman......always flying...
Ginnie Hart: HA! I guess we'll all live forever, Fausto. grin I love it.
i like detail this foto and also caption foto. Nice. Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia.

Seeing your comment, I don't need to make mine grin This joyful mind is signing off for the weekend. Have a great one yourself.

As an afterthought - don't rubbers imply some form of cleanliness. Heh, heh.
Ginnie Hart: Rubbers, cleanliness...and who knows what else, Louis. grin Thanks.

You take some great pictures, Ginnie. Wonderful comp, here.
Ginnie Hart: You're one of my biggest fans, Kay. Thank you!
I like the revealed texture of the stones a lot. The rubbers are a very nice idea to make the picture very interesting. Well done!
Ginnie Hart: And it was exactly as I found it, Paul, which was most of the fun! smile Thanks.

Rubber bands scare me...keeps pinching my skin.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I bet you're as funny as you sound, Ada! grin
You put a grin on my face Ginnie as I kept studying "the rubbers" with some fun in mind. Then I said those are rubberbands like what comes with the Sunday paper. Lucky man who could use them as cock rings over there. Ooops, who said that! :-D
Ginnie Hart: HA! As you see, I'm trying to catch up on my replies. I had no idea I was this far behind!

As I couldn't resist seeing all your pictures since I was gone in vacations, I promised myself to comment only the last one or else I would have to stay here till tomorrow night, because I would like to comment them all...well... here is the picture that made me broken my promise... I laughed and laughed (I'm still laughing) and it even has that kind of impressive simplicity that attracts me so... (still laughing)
Ginnie Hart: I love giving you a good laugh, Lina. grin Thanks for backtracking like this. You have made my day!
