Sail Away With Me

Don't ask me why but when I processed this the other day, I burst into song from one of my favorite hits from the '80s:

Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in-between
How can we be wrong
Sail away with me to another world
And we rely on each other, ah-ah

[Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

Nicely framed! I like the tones that go along with the composition, it really make this photo serene.
Ginnie Hart: It was a frantic moment for the geese when I captured this, Brian, because our pontoon boat was making them fly away as we approached them. But I liked the effect after I saw the image. Thank you.

Remarkable pic, Ginnie. The bird on the left looks like he (she?) is running on top of the water.
Ginnie Hart: She IS, Larry. Good eye. We were in a pontoon boat and as we approached these geese, they started flying away...first walking/running on the water. It was a beauty to behold. smile Thanks.

.....en ik heb nog niet eens ontbeten en koffie gehad.
This Ginnie might be one of your best pictures, awesome, wouldn't it be nice to sail away to another world into the freedom, great text with this image.
A likey to me.
Hope you have a happy landing in about one hour, de temperatuur is hier heel anders dan in Hotlanta.
Ginnie Hart: I should have known you'd give the YouTube link, Astrid! I can't tell you how much this song is in my fibers! It was during my wallpapering days when it came out and if my clients had the radio on, I'd hear this all day long! Memories!!

We are here in AMS! And yes, de temperatuur is KOEL! I'm in heaven!

Believe it or not last week they were playing that song at the grocery store while I was shopping. Another one was Come Back by K.T. Oslin. Such good old songs.

Love your capture. It's truly exceptional.
Ginnie Hart: Can't get them outta my head, Sherri, once they pop in! smile Thank you kindly.
l'envol, c'est comme le d├ębut d'une vie... on regarde, on admire et on croise les doigts pour que le vol soit aussi beau
Ginnie Hart: Oh, that's so beautiful, O-P. My fingers are definitely crossed for this flight! Merci.
Really like your last two, this on in particular.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

I love this shot Ginnie, the timing and composition is spot on. I love how the first bird seems to be walking on water. Welcome back to your second home!!!!tonguetonguetongue
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your welcome to AMS, Tracy. This is almost my FIRST home by now. I think I'm here now more than in Atlanta, believe it or not! And that bird IS walking on the water...actually, running before take-off. smile Bedankt, mijn vriend.
It's no good, Ginnie, I'm just going to have to attept to photograph birds myself. So cleverly done by you here.
Ginnie Hart: As a rule, I don't even attempt them, Chad, but this time seemed to work. Thanks for your vote of confidence! smile

We have lift off! Great capture of motion Ginnie - they sure are in a hurry!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: They were trying to get out of our way as we came around the bend on the pontoon boat, Ingrid! Off they were, lickety-split! smile

Welcome, Ginnie, in het mooie Nederland! I very love your pic, and today after having looked at some nature photos on SC (and Jasper!!) it is more than ever touching my soul (the sepia toning and your song intensify the sentimental feeling), for sometimes I have such a desire and wish to fly or sail further away, but my dear duties at home- you know- are holding me fast! But I can enjoy your and other pics, the next week I'll go by bus to Edam and Hoorn, they must be very nice stadjes! A beautiful in A'dam again!
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhh, ontzettend bedankt, Philine, voor jouw welkom! I always feel like I have come home! And I love how cool it is right now...so refreshing after Hotlanta. Yes, I know of your duties there. I'm so glad you can get away from time to time. I have heard that Hoorn is THE place to go. Thank you for the reminder. Astrid and I will have to do a photo hunt there. smile
Very nice, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sweetie!

From one lover to another, ah-ah smile smile Ah memories, spent my entire teenage years a big Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Jimmy Reeves and Don Williams fan. And this was back in the mid 70's - 80's years of disco, funk and soul rnb. As a Nigerian kid a lot of my friends thought I was weird, but I just loved anything and everything Country Western smile smile

Excellent composition and capture Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I LOVE Country Western, Fotografa! grin I especially love Dolly Parton. She is quite the hoot. I listened to her read her own autobiography and was in stitches almost the entire time. Thanks.

kenny rogers fan?
right wing's a little clipped but its a good capture..
Ginnie Hart: Actually, a Dolly Parton fan, Sam! grin And yes, the right bird's wing is "clippoed" but...the image/text is about the left bird "sailing away" with the bird that's almost already gone! smile
Ginnie these are perfect captures, should be published in Outdoor Life or something. Apologize for not visiting lately, had to redesign my site with a new provider. I'm now at www.sirius2photo.com
Ginnie Hart: I LOVE your new site, John. What a privilege and honor to know you and your most amazing work! Thank you for stopping by, as always.
Not familiar with the song Ginnie but a nicely caught picture of this take-off.
Ginnie Hart: Well, that song was played to death back in its day, Brian. Maybe it didn't make it over the pond...or maybe you weren't one to listen to the radio?! smile Thanks.

Ha ha... I quite like that song (am I suppposed to admit to that!!!!)

Such a superb capture. I love those dangling feet. Brilliant smile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, you're supposed to admit to that, Paul! grin I love it. Thanks.
simply beautiful G! very nice! u captured this excellently ...and today u're my hero smile
Ginnie Hart: Awwwwww. You sure know how to make my day, Ade. Thank you!
A wonderful feeling of freedom in this image. Your detail and composition are fabulous.
Ginnie Hart: It IS freedom personified, Michael! Thank you.
They actually walk on the waters (where was that said before?)
Nice photo, Ginnie!
Am back from Italy; hope you and Donica are fine.
Ginnie Hart: You must have known I've been thinking of you, Wim, wondering when you'd be coming back! Welcome back...just as I am back in AMS today! Ontzettend bedankt.
What a great action shot Ginnie: I hope it wasn't something you said to them!
Ginnie Hart: HA! No, Chris. We just happened to invade their space with our pontoon boat, making them scamper away. smile Thanks.
Yes! I want to join you and those birds... Nice song tho... No I don't ask "why" Please come and see my FRANCE adventures, we are still travelling, Greetings smile
Ginnie Hart: Never ask Why, JoAnn, unless you really want the answer! grin I know you're having a great time in France. Thanks for stopping by here.

Puts me more in mind of the dambusters Ginniegrin Lovely picture of take off!

Wow Ginnie .. the watersplashes so great, excellent captured .. incredible
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Klaus. I was a happy camper. smile
It's great to see Canada geese taking off and landing. Many people don't like the part when the geese are on land though, because of the mess, and they don't want to consider the birds' beauty. This is a wonderful capture of the moment!
Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean about those geese, Patrushka. We just bought a gadget for our lake property in Michigan to keep the geese off the beachfront. We hope it works (have to wait for 3 months to be sure).

Would you mind to record yourself singing and provide us with a link to listen. It must be awesome.

Nice word - awesome.

Anyhow - a great picture, crop and conversion
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'll never record myself, Louis, even though I did have my time of singing years ago. grin Awesome IS a good word, but not of my singing. HA. Thanks.

This absolutely a gorgeous shot. Really like it. Just to bad you didn't get the second duck all the way in the composition.
Ginnie Hart: For me, Camiel, the "clipped" bird on the right is symbolic of already sailing away to another world, with the other bird starting to join it. I guess that's why it didn't bother me. But I understand what you're saying. Thank you kindly for stopping by and commenting. I LOVE your country!

Great action shot. It's not easy to capture birds in flight. Very sharp !
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Carsten!
thank you Ginnie, this song (island in the stream, that is what we are, no one in between, how can we be wrong....) just reminded me the beautifull memory when i was child. Very very thank you Ginnie. Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
So close that you can see the splashes. Rili naiss work smile.

P.S.: I also recommend David Gray's Sail away.
Ginnie Hart: I'm having problems with not being able to access video clips right now, Monica, but you've really gotten my curiosity! I hope to be able to listen to David Gray soon!
