How's It Going?!

From Sydney to Coffs Harbour to Surfers Paradise to Brisbane to Townsville and to Magnetic Island, the greeting was the same:
"How's it going?!"

Of all the things I did and saw while in Australia,
finding this koala bear while taking a 2-hour walk through the national park on Magnetic Island was my most soulful!
(you can see more photos of her
here)

Now that's what a walkabout is about ! Is that your 100 L lens ?
Ginnie Hart: A walkabout, indeed, Johnny. Wish I had thought of that first. smile

This was with my 200 L lens. It was perfect for the job!
Friendly looking little fellow isn't he. Looks very uncomfortable up there, well seen.
Ginnie Hart: How they can sleep for 20 hours in a tree without falling out is beyond me, Les! I sure fell in love with him/her. smile

Ginnie - If they were SMART - the Australian Tourist Board would hire you and set you on your way to discover all the magic of this beautiful country for them! Wonderful picture - as have been the ones you have shared so far. I am greedy - anxious for more, more, more!
Ginnie Hart: You're always my biggest fan, Judy, and your flattery will get you everywhere. smile I just love this kind of thing. I have just added the link to my other blog for more "sides" of this cutie. smile

That is a very fine portrait of an Australian, Ginnie.

You can tell this one is not human, as there is no beer can grasped in any paw!
Ginnie Hart: HA! Your humor makes my day, Ray! grin

'Hoe staat het leven' Geweldige foto, this is the most perfect picture I have ever seen of a koala, the sun/shadow, the DOF, the angle, great composition AND awake, what is unusual.
Judy said the right words, you should be there to capture all the beauty.
Ginnie Hart: As I told Judy, flattery will get you everywhere, Astrid. grin I fell in love with this cutie and have just added the link to my other blog for more "sides" of her.

OMG Ginnie - you sure have a flare for wildlife photography. I mean this is brilliant. I keep myself updated with the latest wildlife shots on NatGeo and from Books, but I dont think I have seen such a perfectly captured moment of late. Great Shot, I just love it smile
Ginnie Hart: You have totally made my day, Thomas, and as I already told a couple of others, flattery will get you everywhere! smile

Such a cute little fellow. I love koala's but they can be quite nasty I was told.
Ginnie Hart: There are actually places where they cater to tourists and will let you hold one. We didn't do that but were tempted. Thanks, Scarlet.

I have just added a link to my other blog for more poses of her:

What a cutey! I supposr you should not cuddle them, but they are sure inviting to do that.
Ginnie Hart: As I just told Scarlet, there were places where they cater to tourists and will let you hold one. We were tempted but chose not to do so.

"Hoe gaat het met jou?", the Dutch people would say! I never saw apic of a kola bear so closely, and I love the unity of tree and bear, they belong together and, caused by sun and shadow, their colours are very similar! Nice that you are beginning your 'Aussie'-series with this icon of the country!
Ginnie Hart: I couldn't help myself, Philine. This was indeed my crowning joy of the entire trip. Thank you for your kind woorden!

Fantastic shot, you know I have never taken a photo of one in the wild.
Ginnie Hart: That's why this was the crowning glory of my trip, on our last full day on the island! But I would have gladly given it up if it would have meant meeting up with you, Aussie, in person!

They really are unlike any other animal. They seem to have the work/life balance just about right! Great capture.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: HA! That would be some "balance" of sleep to wakefulness, Ingrid (20 to 4)! Not bad at all. grin Thanks.
Sofia is so cute Ginnie! Great capture. Thanks for sharing the beautiful and touching pictures of her on your other blog.
Ginnie Hart: I couldn't help it, Richard! Thank you and you're welcome. smile
My friend and I traveled there for two months and had seen koalas only in wildlife parks and sanctuaries. One day we were traveling and came to a stop sign and there up in a tree was a huge koala in the wild. We stopped and took a roll of film. We were very happy to find one in the wild.

None of our photos were as nice as this. Fabulous though he's sticking his tongue out at you, the cheeky fellow.
Ginnie Hart: I loved seeing this one in the wild, Mary. So fun to spot him. In this image, I don't think that's her tongue?? But in this one, it is??

Ginnie Hart: I hope so, too, Chantal! smile I'll cross my fingers for you.
A classic Australian image Ginnie - never seen one myself so cannot judge how normal the expression is. He does look mischievous though ;o)
Ginnie Hart: I had never seen one face-on either, Mike, but it looked exactly like how I'd expect...very sleepy and cute. smile Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: I know! I smile just thinking of her, Chris. smile
Great capture Ginnie. If I could imagine a perfect picture of koala bear in a tree this is what I would be thinking about. Excellent picture.
Ginnie Hart: You sure know how to make my day, John! Thank you.

These guys are very entertaining even when they are not doing anything (which is most of the time). There are a few at the zoo here and they always make me smile.
Ginnie Hart: It's the truth, Martin. 20 hours of sleep every day makes for quite the life! smile They sure know how to capture our hearts.
Great picture Ginnie, surely you could sell this to any branch of the Australian Tourist Board for their brochures.
Ginnie Hart: If only I could figure out how to do that, Brian. smile
This is an especially cute picture of an already super cute animal..love it Ginnie

They are sooooo cute!!
Don't you just wish for a big hug ...
The shot is just awesome !!!
Ginnie Hart: There actually are places where they allow you to hug a koala, Lina, catering to the tourists who think they're so cuddly. We never did it but I was in my glory enough to find one in the wild and capture it. So cute is right. smile Thanks.

Welcome back Ginnie! I guess I've been sleeping like your Koala smile Lovely capture, cute and funny. Love the way his foot... ehh paw is hanging. Sharp detail here.
It looks like he/she is peeking through his/her eyes and it does look like he/she is taking a peep probably looking right into the lens....and is thinking: "How's it going?, Wanna take me home beautiful?"
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! I DID want to take him/her home!!! grin Thanks for the smile, Fausto.
