Go West, Young Man

Noord - Oost - Zuid - West**
Another weathervane from the Holland polder.

(** In America, we say North-South-East and West.  Astrid told me in Holland they "follow clockwise" and say North-East-South and West.)

[Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

Love the silhouette, this area is known by it's many ducks and swans, a lot of the farmhouses have all kinds of different vanes on their chimney. I like the way your composition is, good negative space.
Ginnie Hart: The polder has lots of "negative" space that is so POSITIVE, Astrid. Don't we love the play on words. smile Thank you, lieve vriend.

Beautiful sihouettes -with the nice imagination to fly away together with the westwind -over het weidse, groene polderland heen naar de zee!
Ginnie Hart: Fly away with me, dear Philine. I can just see us. smile

A companion to the cow weather vane from the other day. I can see the attraction of photographing these - makes you want to get the whole set!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: The whole set is right, Ingrid. I'll start looking or the others that are "lying" around. smile

Nice!
You might be interested to know, Ginnie, that in Australia [some parts, anyway] they say "watch...wallet...spectacles...testacles".
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! Only from you, Ray!! grin I feel so enlightened.
Always happy to see a duck and this very nice silhouette.
Ginnie Hart: I bet, Mary. Duck, duck, goose! smile

A duck and a swan - and I thought it is a mommy and daddy goose about to make out smile

Interesting tidbit about the way directions are indicated.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! You have too much on your mind, Louis. grin I love it.
In Spain: Norte, Sur, Este y Oeste wink
Ginnie Hart: Aha! The same as in America, José-Angel. smile

Besides saying, "That's how it goes, headin' West", I say, "Just tell me left or right, I don't do east or west"smile A lovely image and so please to see you're posting while away. What treatsmile
Ginnie Hart: HA! My dad would always give directions with N-S-E or W and I'd always have to say, "Dad, just tell me if I need to turn right or left!" smile So I know what you mean, Sherri.

I always post while in Amsterdam, which is my second home. When we're on vacation, I stop. smile

Two birds with one vane.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Bernie. How cool is THAT! smile
A bird in the hand is worth two on the weather vane ... accept on this occasion. richard
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! That is worth more than a thousand words, Richard. Wish I had thought of it first! smile
In France: Nord, sud, est, ouest.Beautiful silhouettes Ginnie. After a cow, a duck and a swan, what's next?
Ginnie Hart: I love finding out what the different countries say, Richard. Thanks for sharing. What's next? Hmmm. Even I don't know! smile

LOL and this is so you ;o) Touché! Love the ducks btw ;o)
Ginnie Hart: HA! Touché is right, Mike. I love it. smile
Another unique weather vane. I enjoy these pictures, don't see many of these here, if at all. Great tones and details and nicely composed too.
Ginnie Hart: I grab them when I see them, John, because they're so unique for me as well. I love them. Thanks.
I love the weathervane Ginnie, and the composition as whole is very pleasing in shape, set against the blank sky as it is.
Ginnie Hart: You are so affirming, Brian! Thank you.

Wonderful vane capture Ginnie! smile I now look for weather vanes that I can post for you. Hopefully I'll find some on Saturday when I take a drive with my camera in tow.
Ginnie Hart: Awww. I love the thought of you looking for vanes for me, Kay. They're so fun to find! smile Thanks.
You've got to create a book on these weathervanes ! Great !
Ginnie Hart: Now that's a fun idea, Zeb. Weathervanes from all over the world...or all over Holland. I'd like that. smile
Another great weathervane shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Helen. As you know, I'm a glutton for them. smile
