Hanging On

Many of you know by now that Donica's mom is dying of stomach and liver cancer.
She found out the news the day of Sam's funeral on January 31st.  We found out the next day after landing in Atlanta from Amsterdam.
It's all happening very quickly. It's aggressive and resistant to treatment.

All we can do is make her as comfortable as possible and be with her, which we are doing every day.

For all your thoughts and prayers, THANK YOU.
I just wanted you to know that we're hanging on, one day at a time.

[Today I'm in Atlanta.]

I do keep you, Donica, and Donica's mom in my thoughts and prayers. I will keep doing so.

Your lovely photo is a good reminder of the fight to live that goes on each day. Down to the last remaining leaf.

All my best to you,
Ginnie Hart: You know this path, dear Kay, and are able to comfort me with the comfort you experienced yourself. Thank you for that dear gift. You know I deeply appreciate it.
Sorry to hear that. You just don't know what the next day will bring in one's life. My father died of cancer and like you say it's just one day at a time. My prayers are with you and your family.
Ginnie Hart: Many of us already know this "passage," John, and can give comfort to each other. I watched both my parents and a brother die several years ago, and Donica has already lost a younger sister. But her mom is only 5 years my senior, at 67. She's too young for this, so it makes it harder. Thanks for your kind words at this time of sorrow!

Ginnie, to add to my last comment,

Miracles do happen. And this I will pray for too.
Ginnie Hart: The miracle for us right now would be that she would go quickly, Kay, without pain. Each day that goes by she is weaker. We will be surprised if she's still with us a week from now. Thank you for your prayers.

In view of your sad news this is a suitably poignant picture Ginnie. I hope you can stay strong
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Chris. I am trying to stay strong for Donica because she is the executor of everything. There is much she has to do and she needs strength each day. I am being there for her, I hope to God!

I have received your mail will respond in private!

a fitting image given the circumstances. mal
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Mal. Thank you.
A beautifully symbolic picture, Ginnie. I shall of course pray.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you very kindly, Larry. Your words support us.
I think when you take every day at a time, you enjoy it that much more! And you also learn how precious life really is when it is one day at a time!

We are doing the same with P's uncle. He's been hanging on longer than anyone thought, 5 years and going strong with agressive Cancer, but now it is that bad too...

Beautiful bokeh!
Ginnie Hart: That's all any of us has, Jen, just one day at a time. In sickness and in health. Thank you for your support and I pray P's uncle will get through his own struggle quickly as well.

You, Donica, and her mother are in my thoughts. This is a very poignant photo that's very expressive with your news. Hang tight.
Ginnie Hart: Hanging tight is what we need to do right now, Ted. Thank you for stopping by again and commenting.
A poignant picture at this sad time Ginnie. Like everybody else my thoughts are with you
Ginnie Hart: That means more than I can say, Bill. Thank you kindly!

Dear Ginnie, this picture is so symbolic for the time in which you are right now, I keep you, Donica and Donica's mom in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
I my mind I can 'picturit' where you took this picture, you will understand if I say, 'in the polder of the woods.....'
Ginnie Hart: Yes, mijn lieve vriend, this is indeed from my "polder" in our Atlanta woods. Nicholas and I were there this past Saturday, as you know. It was what I needed, just like you need yours there. Thank you for knowing and being there/here with me/us.

All any of us can do is hang on, one day at a time, Ginnie.

Thinking of you and your loved ones and wishing peace for all of you.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Kathryn, of course, but some days we know that better than others, as you know! Thank you for your thoughts and peace. We need that.

Life is like a leaf. It turns colour and the wind blows it off. We are not leaves, we have memories.

Great picture.

Nice poignant shot Ginnie. My thoughts are with you all.

Hang on in there and take one day at a time.

All the very best Bernie.

Not ready to leave just yet!!
And the tree is not ready to let go, either.
Very poignant image, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Not yet, Ray, but it will be soon. In Atlanta, the new-leaf growth will soon push off this leaf. Death and resurrection! Thank you.
Best desires of strength for you. Like that leaf that clings to its branch!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, dear José-Angel, yes. It is strength that we all need right now.

A very poignant image Ginnie, and a suitable symbol for the way we cling on to the tree of life to our very last breath. It is so hard to watch someone we love fight for life - my thoughts are with you.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you ever so much, Ingrid. Today Mom said she is ready to go. I don't think she is fighting any more. It's time to let her go....
Very appropriate, stay strong.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Nigel. We have many reasons to stay strong!

a touching post with a lovely shot...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you very kindly, Sam!
My heart goes out to Donica and her mom, and to you and all of her loved ones. I was in the same situation with my dad and sister...two loved ones leaving in such a short period. It's very difficult. Your photo is so appropriate. Thanks for sharing with your SC family.
Ginnie Hart: After all the time I've spent here on/with SC, I couldn't NOT tell you what's going on. I have needed and cherished your support. Thank you, Patrushka.
Dear Ginnie, please accept my heartfelt thoughts and deep prayers during this time to you and Donica's family. It is with hope that Donica's mom will find comfort in those that surround her with so much love, albeit in the midst of this unfathomable suffering. Cheers'nBlessings..always - {H}
Ginnie Hart: The time of death is always such a shock to the system, H, especially when it is so sudden and unexpected. I know you are a man of prayer. Thank you for your prayers for us!

Oh my goodness, I don't know what's happening these days. I've heard of so many people recetly who are fighting it, or have succumbed to it. My own diagnosis and recent surgery, while really successful it was a shock to both body and soul. And I have six weeks of radiation to look forward to, but I've been very lucky. Please send my sincerest prayers to Donica at this difficult time.
Ginnie Hart: We're all just candles blowing in the wind, Dave. I pray you will continue your own healing while Mom goes on to a new degree of glory! Thank you.

Just passing by to leave a huge hug for you and Donica...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Lina. A thousand thank-yous! We're all still hanging on but it won't be for much longer. I once heard someone say that Mercy is when we don't get what we should and Grace is when we get what we shouldn't. Right now I think we're in Limbo, somewhere in-between the two! But underneath are the Everlasting Arms!
OK I quess that you are still busy with your MOM in law, So I wish YOU and donica again all the best!!!

Have a great weekend ( I was also a bit busy with my sick dog)smile JoAnn

What our daily words cannot express....with my best wishes...

Rainer Maria Rilke:

The leaves are falling, falling as from far,
from wilting in the heavens' distant gardens:
They're falling to deny the summer's mirth.

And in the nights the heavy Earth
falls into solitude from star to star.

We all are falling. See my hand: it bends.
And look at others: It's in all their calling.

And yet there's One, who's holding all this falling
endlessly tender in His upturned hands...
Ginnie Hart: What a priceless, precious poem for me today, dear Philine. These words are being written on my heart as I read them over and over again. Thank you, dear friend. Thank you. If Mom does not "fall" today, it will probably be tomorrow.... Underneath are the Everlasting Arms.
Just to let you know that I am thinking of you/Ginnie and Donica...

All the best !! smile JoAnn
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, JoAnn. Thank you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you ever so much, Bridge. She's now free. Free as a bird!
