Big Brother is Watching You!

Back to our Mediterranean cruise from November 2007!
In case you need a reminder, here's where we docked along the way.

Now, can you tell me what building is reflected in this gigantic garden mirror?
(The building is behind my back, and it's raining and at dusk, which has nothing to do with anything!)

The first one to get it right gets...absolutely nothing but accolades!

Later:  Astrid was the first one to guess correctly (no, that was NOT rigged!), and then Richard S confirmed it:  it's the Monte Carlo Casino!

[Today I'm in Atlanta.]

I have no idea where this is, but the mirror makes this a pleasantly confusing shot.
Ginnie Hart: The whole thing was very confusing to me when I first saw it, Martin, but the longer I looked, the more it all fell into place...especially when you find out what the building is!

Hermitage?

Such a coooool shot of this very cool mirror!
Ginnie Hart: That was our OTHER cruise, Ruth! smile The one to St. Petersburg!

This was more temporal than that, I'm afraid. But thanks for guessing. I'll let you know privately.
A stunning shot. The tones are wonderful. I think it would lose something if it was in clour.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your confirmation of my conversion, Mike. It was the only way it seemed to work, you're right.

Hard to take in all the detail here, Ginnie.
It is a fabulous picture...but, I find myself wanting waht is in front of you to be in focus rather than the mirror image of what is behind.
It is a challenging image, for me.
Ginnie Hart: As I told Martin, Ray, the whole thing was very confusing to me when I first saw it, but the longer I looked, the more it all fell into place...especially when you find out what the building is!

intriguing!
Ginnie Hart: It was very intriguing for me when I first saw it, Sumedh. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Even the reminder could not help me to guess what building it is sad
How nice you've set the building in the middle of mirror; and nice sepia.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid and Richard S have both guessed correctly that this is the Monte Carlo Casino! But I would never have known before our cruise, if that makes you feel any better, Shahrooz! Thanks.

You have a special gift of taking pictures that makes us think.
I wanted to write more than this but the first sentence just says it all
Ginnie Hart: You are such a sweetheart, Fausto. Thank you so much! And since it's been guessed correctly now, this is the Monte Carlo Casino.

No clue, but I love the building in the mirror and wish I could see it a little more close up, although I think for your photograph, something would be lost in the closeup! Now I am curious to know where this is.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid and Richard S have both guessed it correctly now, Kathryn: it's the Monte Carlo Casino! It does make you wonder if the mirror is there for "security!"

Very interesting Ginnie: I couldn't work out what I was looking at, at first
Ginnie Hart: Astrid guessed first and correctly, Chris: it's the Monte Carlo Casino! smile

Stunner to me Ginnie, when this popped up I said my husband, who was reading the paper, hey look this is...........and than I start reading your information with it, you are letting us quess where this is, well I have been here twice, not for the gambling but just to see 'how rich and famous with way too much money are living' The reflection you see is the famous Casino in Monte Carlo, in Monaco, a small Princdom in the South of France, the building in the refelction on the left is the famous Hotel de Paris, cars parked in front of that hotel......only appear in dreams.....Ginnie, this is a real good picture, I hate to be the one who had to give it away grin( I am not of course tongue) I put in a link, hope you don't mind. Geweldige foto weer, ja Monaco is een prachtig Prinsdom, heerlijk om door heen te wandelen, maar zou er nooit willen wonen, a nice town but I would never want to be living there....no polder to run in...... wink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Carlo_Casino
Ginnie Hart: I declare, Woman! Everyone is gonna think this one was rigged!!! But now you have surprised me the most of anyone. You're right, of course. CONGRATULATIONS! I have just added some text to the image to declare you the winner of accolades. smile
Fantastic shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, ChiChi. Thanks.

I give my tongue to the cat ... I just don't know, but the composition is great !!! I love this reflection and the surrealist effect created !!!
Ginnie Hart: I love that expression, Ann. I'll have to remember that! Astrid and your dad have now both guessed correctly: it's the Monte Carlo Casino.

Ginnie, are you preparing a new career as quizmaster in TV? Why not? A nice idea to awake our interest for your pics! Sorry, "da steh ich nun, ich armer Tor, und bin so klug als wie zuvor", I don't know where we are, surely in the Medterranean area because of the plenty, opulence of plants and flowers and the classical/Renaissance style of the impressive buildings and the marble-stone of the ball as a symbol of perfect beauty! It may be a country or town which is leading us into an intoxination of the senses!
(As I am now reading, Astrid suggests the Casino of Monte Carlo, but have you really been there? I can wait till tomorrow!)
Ginnie Hart: HA! Ginnie the quizzmaster. Well, I guess I COULD do that, Philine. smile And yes, I have actually been there, on our cruise last November. As Astrid said, it was a fun place to see but I would NOT want to live there! The Monte Carlo Casino!

Is it a two storey building with an attic, Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: HA! I have a feeling there are LOTS of secret rooms in the Monte Carlo Casino, Chad! smile

Fantastic shot Ginnie, like the conversion.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Aussie. Truth be known, I spent way too much time on this photo. It just didn't seem to want to do anything. Glad you like it. And maybe you know by now that it's the Monte Carlo Casino! Astrid was the first one to guess.
Interesting image Ginnie, there is something unreal about the mirror though.
Ginnie Hart: I first thought it was a garden globe but when I saw it sideways, Les, I saw that it was a concave mirror. I wonder if it's their security system?!
Without any doubt, I say it's the Monaco's Casino. I have been there a couple of times.
A stunning shot Ginnie. Well done
Ginnie Hart: And that's your finally answer? YES. You and Astrid guessed correctly, Richard, and I have added that to the text. So, did you win anything there??? We all want to know. smile
I have no idea Ginnie, but I love the picture. Did you do a close up of the reflection?
Ginnie Hart: I don't think I got closer than this, Bill, so this will have to do. Astrid and Richard S both guessed correctly that this is the Monte Carlo Casino. Who would have known, right? smile

What a great shot Ginnie, I have no idea where it is though.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mick. Astrid guessed first and correctly that this is the Monte Carlo Casino.
Another puzzle picture then Ginnie. I haven't got a clue but well seen anyway.
Ginnie Hart: I love puzzles like this, Brian, don't you! Astrid guessed correctly and then Richard S confirmed that this is the Monte Carlo Casino.

Wow Ginnie you really have them guessing .. Ill go with Richard. What an unusual shot.Love the B & W..
Ginnie Hart: Astrid was first and then Richard, so, yes, Gale, you're right. It's the Monte Carlo Casino. I think the mirror is their security system! grin
Wow - what a site, and such a creative catch. I'm not really sure how many people have photographed it in that way. At least you are the first one I know..

I was there in 2001... I had so much fun!
Ginnie Hart: Do you remember seeing this mirror in 2001, Jen? I wonder if it's been there as long as the casino? Probably not, of course. Thanks.

Wow! You've created the third dimension!!
Fabulous shot!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Lina, as always. It sure surprised me!
Ahahahh! The Great Casino of Montecar it. A fantastic treatment for that late of rain. I am glad that you return to remove your photos from the trip from November! smile
Ginnie Hart: I have so many more cruise photos to show, José-Angel. Over time, of course! Thanks.

Great picture and conversion. To guess the building - I remember a movie from the 50's where the hero visited this place
Ginnie Hart: When you live long enough, Louis, you can guess all sorts of puzzles. grin Thanks.
Very interresting effect in B&W ! Impressive reflection too !!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Zeb. Thank you!
