photoblog image Angels in America

Angels in America

This was sister Ruth's Christmas tree on their outside deck at their farm in Michigan back in December, during a blustery snow.
(several filters used)

With all the political primaries going on in America right now, prior to our presidential election this fall,
I've been thinking about how much we need Angels in America right now!
(Don't get me started!)

[Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

We need angels everywhere Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Chris, I know you're right! Some places more than others. Thanks.
believe me Ginnie, the whole world is watching!! and hoping for angels too.
Ginnie Hart: I KNOW the whole world is watching, Patrick! That makes it matter to me all the more! Thanks.

Love the tiny little golden thread you used in the frame, love the way you captured the angel and the lighting is again superb (you did a nice job on the PP wink Yes 'angels' what can I say, Ginnie not only in America they need angels so once in a while, we all do need then sometimes it does not matter where we are living on this globe we DO need those little ones, strange sometimes they are at the right spot at the right time smile and thtat's how I see the symbolic golden thread to hold on to life and can say, hey it was not my time yet wink And for the elections, we keep our fingers crossed that the people will make the right choice. Have a wonderful weekend and see you soon wink
Ginnie Hart: Your words are so very "right on," Astrid, in more ways than one! I think we'd all be surprised if we knew how over-worked (an underpaid!) our angels are, everywhere. I like how you have used that "thread" to be a symbolic anchor. I hadn't thought of that! Thank you.

O yes, Ginnie, I take a high interest in the political primaries going on right now and I'm reading every day first what has happened in the USA and I have so many wishes for you and my American friends and....., we all need angels privately and in the political affairs but especially America needs Angels- first a powerful Peace-Angel! I think this angel on Ruths' tree who has braved a blustery snow is a very hopeful symbol for your country!
Three little angels are hanging on our Christmas tree until the nd of january, angels filled with some retro- memories...
Ginnie Hart: I am so thankful there are people around the world like YOU, Philine, who are part of this process, kinda like being in the grandstands waving us on. We NEED you! Thank you for your encouragement.

You could use this amazing shot as a Christmas card, it's beautifully done Ginnie..wink

As for Angels I agree with everyone else, we all need them at some stange in our lives, some more than others and from all walks of lives.
Lets hope they are watching over America and the right choice is made.

Hope you got my e-mailtonguetongue
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Tracy. Thank you. I know I'll be on pins and needles all year as this drama gets played out!

Far be it from me to interfere in American elections, but if you ever elected Mike Huckerbee I am digging a shelter.grin

Great bit of twiddling
Ginnie Hart: YOU ARE SAFE, Bill. smile To tell you the truth, I do NOT think a Republican will win this time. But which Democrat is the question! Sigh.

Things have to get better, right?

Angels are what make our lives that extra bit special. I'm not even going to get into the US primaries smile
Ginnie Hart: UGH! That's what I mean about not getting started!!! Thanks, Scarlet. We all need angels right now, maybe.

LOL at Bill's comment. Me too, me too, is all I can say.

There is something about your image of that angel out there where we had to send her because of Peter's allergies. Never had a tree undecorated for Christmas, just the lights and the angel. Maybe there is some significance. You caught her in the driving snow, and it has become a wonderful symbol.

I heard a wonderful piece on NPR yesterday about a new book, don't remember the name, about a new book about America in the 21st century. Hoping for strength at home, which makes us a better presence in the rest of the world. Imagine if we spent a fraction of the money at home that we've spent in Iraq. Imagine.
Ginnie Hart: I actually liked her out on the deck, Ruth, and would put in a vote for having her out there every year! Maybe not practical, especially if you want to put up your lovely decorations. But you can always have TWO. smile

Tell me about that book once you remember the name. Sounds like something up our alley! IMAGINE. That's what it's all about, to bring it to fruition! Thanks, dear sister. This past week was something else, wasn't it!
Don't we all need an angel Ginnie? Nice shot, I like the lighting
Ginnie Hart: Yes we do, Richard, for sure! Thanks.

She looks a bit precarious - hanging on for dear life in a blustery gale - a bit like George Bush!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: OMG, Ingrid. Don't get me started!!!!!!! smile
Fine image of a Christmas tree. I especially like the background.
I also hope the elections will go well; let's wait and see, and don't forget to vote!
Ginnie Hart: The background is a huge spruce in the yard, Wim, and was wonderful for this image, I thought, as it snowed.

And don't for one second think I would NOT vote!! It's one of my most important privileges and responsibilities. Trust me! smile
Beautiful, Ginnie - I love the very creative post processing. If you are looking for angels, I`d steer well clear of politicians. (:o)
Ginnie Hart: HA! I agree, Roz, except that WE'RE the ones who elect them. So I have to pay attention! (Needless to say, I was NOT responsible for electing our present president, twice!!)

Nicely framed Ginnie but where's the snow on the tree?
Ginnie Hart: The snow had just started to fall/blow, Les, so it wasn't there yet! smile

That's a beautiful angel! We also have an angel on top of our tree every year smile

And I totally agree with you. We need more angels!
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling they're all around us, Deb, and are busier than we think!!! Thanks.

youre in Amsterdam! I envy you. At least you can get away from the insanity that is all over the US.
Ginnie Hart: I always try to get away from America's insanity, Kanyi, even when I'm there. It's almost out of control! I hope to God we'll see significant change by this time next year!

This would be a lovely Christmas card. Like the pp you have done.
I'm with you don't get me started. Australia is in a fantastic position at present, huge mining boom in 3 states, the follow on to all other industries is great. Despite this the major banks just lifted interest rates on home loans because of the American situation.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Aussie. My nephew and his partner live in Sydney, and as you know, we'll be visiting them in April. This would be a good topic of conversation with them!

I think you're right Ginnie, you don't need a continuation of the last umpteen years. I hope America makes the right choice, not only for themselves but also for the rest of the world. It seems that if America sneezes the rest of us get a cold.

I love the picture by the way.
Ginnie Hart: I love the way you put that, Ellie: "It seems that if America sneezes the rest of us get a cold." That is a pretty powerful statement, when you think about it. My fingers are crossed that things will drastically change with this new election. They HAVE to, not only for OUR sake but, as you've said, for the rest of the world!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Whatever it is you have done with filters, Ginnie...it world! This is a wonderful image.

Umh...I think angels are about as improbable as gods...better to work with real stuff like, say, Sub&Sins Woodland Nymphs! [grin]
Ginnie Hart: I'm glad this works for you, Ray. That always makes me extra happy, of course. smile And regarding angels and gods, who knows...maybe they ARE in the same category as the woodland nymphs?

Lol! Peculiar thoughts in the heat of electoral process, Ginnie. Let us leave to the angels in the Christmas trees, at the moment! wink P.D.: To try to choose better the next time!
Ginnie Hart: YES, José-Angel. Next time will HAVE to be better! Thanks.

You're obviously aware we Europeans are watching with interest. Did you ever see the HBO TV Series "Angels in America" - I bought it on DVD and we've watched it a dozen times...it's BRILLIANT!!
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, David! I HAVE that series and loved seeing it. That's actually where I clepped the title. smile Thanks.
