photoblog image V is for Viktor

V is for Viktor

"No cameras allowed," he said.

"Okay,"  I said.
"But may I take a photo of your desk...and with you in front of it from the back?"

"Okay," he said.

Hip Hip Hooray for SC meet-ups!  This one was here in Atlanta yesterday with VZ/Viktor/Nostalgia.
HE'S REAL!

Well done Ginnie only you would have thought of this shot!!
A real gem, what a great idea and imagination my friendtonguetongue
Nice to meet Viktor toosmile
Ginnie Hart: HA! I have a feeling others would have done the same, Tracy, but I'll accept your compliment graciously! smile You have a way of starting off my day with a wonderful little bang! Thank you, my friend.

nice work, looks very retro 50s. great.
Ginnie Hart: Retro 50s is just about right for Viktor, Mick. He's a very cool guy! smile Thanks.
He's giving peace signs. That's pretty good, even from the back. Very cre8ive shot, Ginnie. I love it.
Ginnie Hart: Peace or Viktor signs, Mary. I first thought Peace and then later I realized it would be just like him to give a Viktor sign! smile Thanks and hope you're doing better?!
VZ is very careful about his reputation smile great way to bring that side out, like the creativity in your shot Ginnie!!
Ginnie Hart: Gotta protect himself from all the peepers in the world, I guess. smile Thanks, Patrick.

cool! I checked out his site. It is awesome.
Ginnie Hart: He's even more awesome than his site, Kanyi...and I'm just saying that 'cuz it's true. smile Thanks.

Very fine portrait, Ginnie.
Just one small suggested "improvement"...I would like it even more if you had been able to include VZ's dirty knees in the shot. [grin]
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! After seeing his face, you'd have no need to see his dirty knees, Ray. smile BUT I saw all his secret spots for his photos, including his mushrooms from the other day, which was the frosting on the cake for me. Wish you could have been with us.

'no cameara's allowed' I think somebody is heard of hearing grin but...but...but....I am glad that you are tongue. Nice meeting you Viktor, I know you two had much to talk in too little time, I met Ginnie too remember grin. Ginnie this is an outstanding job, nice processing here, you created a perfect atmosphere for somebody 'who was not allowed to capture a very nice guy' tonguetonguetongue love it!!
Ginnie Hart: WHAT! WHAT DID YOU SAY, Astrid. HA! I can be very hard of hearing when I want to be. Or the way I see it, I can be very persuasive! How could he say NO to such a sweet request! grin It's called a win-win situation. I love it. I think he did, too, truth be known. smile Thanks for your kind words, mijn vriend. I wish you could have been with us. Actually, you were....every time your name was mentioned.

I can well understand VZ's wish "No cameras allowed" in order to protect his personality, and I self would have respect his wish totally. But I have to agree that your (by VZ sanctioned) pic with some processing of alienation is a respectful and friend-ly kind of giving a portrait of this Sir. I like the V- gesture of his hands and itsdouble meaning of this sign: name and peace: a message- funny and serious at once!
Ginnie Hart: I think he actually got a kick out of my respecting his wish but still being persuasive, Philine. It sure didn't take him long to go sit in his chair for the photo-op! smile When I see you, I'll be respectful of you as well...in the same kind of way. smile

Hahaha! What a brilliant idea!
Ginnie Hart: I must say I was quite delighted to figure out something that honored his request but still gave it a bit of pizzazz, Kim. It was the frosting on the cake after meeting him. smile Thanks for stopping by and commenting again! That always means a lot. What's funny is that I talked about you being in Albania because he's from that part of the world...even lived in Tallinn for awhile, where I've been.
Vrey nice creative shot Ginnie. I like the double "V"
Ginnie Hart: I like it, too, Richard. Thanks. He's one creative guy for someone who didn't want his picture taken. smile

'He's giving peace signs' she wrote. Don't know what happened since 1970, but a peace sign is the V with the open palm towards the receiver. The V and the back of the hand was reserved for uniformed enforcers. So my guess is that those signs are not 'peace' but Viktor signs - a third possibility and probably a more recent development - and confirmed by your title. A very neat person with this study as testimony. What else I observe I will keep to myself.

Great way to preserve requested anonimity. At long last you had a reason to play with certain PS filters smile
Ginnie Hart: You know me, Louis...any chance to play is very welcome. It's a long story about the original photo (starting with my lens not being screwed on quite right, leading to no AF showing up....long story), so it wasn't totally in focus. That forced me to be creative, so when I was done, I had to smile. Don't you love it when you can make lemonade out of a lemon! smile

Ginnie Hart: HA! I never once thought of you and you back photos, Mike. DUH! BUT OF COURSE! Thanks.

Nice one Ginnie - it reminds me of Man Ray's solarised portraits. Shame not to see his face, but I can quite understand his desire to preserve a little mystery - a bit like Greta Garbo! I'm sure you two had a lot to talk about.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: Aha! That's the name of this filter, Ingrid. I couldn't remember but as soon as I saw it, I recognized it. How fun. I'm sure Viktor will be honored to be lumped together with Ms. Greta Garbo!! grin And yes, we had a lot to talk about!
Well the fantasy is maintained. Now did V actually ever let you see his face ? wicked grin ... and er was the lunch good? richard.
Ginnie Hart: The more I was with him, Richard, the more I wondered how/why he would not want his face shown. Even if I say so myself, his is a very fine photo-op face! I would have loved for you all to have seen it. But I must say I was delighted to get anything at all, after showing up with my camera anyway! smile

"The Other Side of Z" Ha-ha.
As you can see, life taught me early the art of compromise. Give away small stuff, but keep the main thing in tact. This is an indispensable skill to have for anyone in my profession, otherwise you'd see only ugly buildings around you.
If not for the business meeting, you snatched me from, dear, I swear, I'd greet you in the foyer with a black velvet band over my left eye, dragging my wooden leg behind, and with a metal hook, sticking out from my sleeve, extended for a firm handshake. Ha-ha-ha. Everything was ready under my desk.
Thank you, dear, for driving that far just to have a bowl of Pad Thai with me (a tribute to Ray? Nah.)
I'm glad you screwed on the lens the wrong way! It gave you such a creative impulse!
Z
Ginnie Hart: I am very sure, Viktor, after meeting you, that Life has taught you many things! It makes you a man of great complexity and mystery...and yet someone who can be communicated with seriously and with humor. I would have LOVED to have seen you come out to greet me in the way you had imagined in your mind. Well, the thought definitely counts! One day you must write your book!

I will always remember our Pad Thai time together...and the wonderful walk-about, seeing all your secret photo-op places. Thank you again for your time and energy. Let's do it again some day!

A very charming and funny answer, Sir Z, "Wir spielen alle, wer es weiß, ist klug." (Arthur Schnitzler)
Ginnie Hart: You two would really hit it off, Philine. And just think, soon it will be OUR turn! I can hardly wait. smile
I hate having my picture taken. I must remember this when someone points a camera at me grin

Like the processing.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I guess we all learned something from Viktor! smile Thanks, Bill.

So V is for Viktor...he seems to be very organized and he has a lovely back gringrin From some of his comments he seems to have a great and subtile sense of humour...This photo tells me that you had a great time meeting him!
Ginnie Hart: He DOES have a great sense of humor, Lina, but more so behind the scenes than in person, where we were very serious about getting to know each other. It was a very wonderful meet-up.

I need to put your link on my other blog because this one is not taking me to you. That will be the next thing I do once I find you.
An interesting form to present/display to us to Viktor. It seems an important person! wink

Viktor is not altogether a mystery man, there are lots of clues about him to be found in this image. Neatness and orderliness are just two things that spring to mind.

Love the photo Ginnie. I hate having my photo taken too.
Ginnie Hart: Lots of clues is right, Jose-Ann. And you are so correct! When I take YOUR photo one day, I'll be very creative, I promise. smile
Just as in spy moovie ! Well done Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! I like that, Zeb! smile Thank.

Ingrid left a comment about this picture on VZ's page. I had to run up here and see it lol.....It's so like him to have his back to the camera. This shot has made my really early morning Ginnie. Thanks.
Remind me to pose like this if you ever take a picture of me. wink
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHA, Ada! Sorry I'm replying to this so late. But you brought another smile. Thanks.
