The Dutch Girls

I've already introduced you to PETRA when I met her here in Amsterdam last May and went for a bikeride together.  So she's the first SC Dutch Girl I met!

Then it was SCARLET in October (above) on the Leidseplein, near our apartment, where we had a delightful lunch together.  I'll be meeting up with her again on Thursday and will see if the dentist had any power over reducing her smile.  I'm guessing not!

This past Friday it was ASTRID (above) in her town of Arkel, 1 1/2 hours south of Amsterdam by train.  Talk about instant connections on a hundred different levels!

And here I thought it was THE PHOTOS that SC was all about!  WRONG!
Maybe if I live long enough, I'll get to meet all of you!  :)

Ginnie how wonderful would that be...smile
Great pictures, have you noticed photographers are mostly photogenic too.
This is so pleasing to see.
Just wished I could have been there, may be next time.smile It's great to put a face to a blogger, thank you so muchsmile
Ginnie Hart: You're at the top of the list, Tracy, so get a move on it. Since we know you're a gad-about, we think you need to come to Amsterdam one of my trips here so that we can hit at least 2 birds (Astrid and me) with one stone! grin

I am a true believer in taking "virtual" friendships to the next level. It's a no-brainier for me!
You are absolutely right in that it is not the photos that make SC a special place. I'm so glad to meet these women's faces since we know each other without that recognition.
Ginnie Hart: This is a fabulous community here at SC, Mary. It makes sense to me that we take "virtual" to the next level, if we can, as I just told Tracy! Thanks.
Hello to both. Thanks Ginnie for introducing us.
Ginnie Hart: You're more than welcome, Bill! smile Thanks.
Hello to all 3. It is nice to put a face to some of the sweet comments I recieve. smile Got to meet you all.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, ChiChi. I totally agree about putting a face to a name!!!

All the power to shutter girls! The road to the world peace always starts with a personal handshake, a friendly hug or a smiley chat about nothing over a cup of coffee.
To the tireless bridge builder, our Ginnie, I pronounce this toast. Cheers!
Z
Ginnie Hart: We Shutter girls rule! HA! I just had to throw that in, Viktor. smile Your words are very warm and kind and have humbled me as I reflect on the symbolism of what meeting these ladies has meant to me. The Power of One comes to mind. Thank you kindly, Viktor.
I'll toast to that. How many of us have you met now Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Oh dear me! Of those who are SCers, I think 24, Jose-Ann. I'll change the number later if I remember someone else. But add to these 3 the 19 I met at the SC BBQ in September (Milton Keyes), plus Mal and Yinks. I have met Wim and JoAnn who are also Dutch and comment but who are not SCers.

One person at a time. So when will I meet YOU, Jose? smile

AND YIKES! HELLO! Before José Angel wrote his comment below, I REMEMBERED HIM. HOW COULD I FORGET José Angel!!! So, make that 25! smile
I was in Amsterdam two and half yaers back and used to know all the 'pleins, is this the 'plein near the musems or the stop infront of burger king in the town centre??

Real nice collage Ginnie, nice to know what Scarlet and Astrid look like. Hello you two
Ginnie Hart: Leidseplein is near the American Hotel, Sesan, and yes, maybe is in front of the Burger King? Hmmm. I'll have to pay attention to that the next time I'm there.

I agree that it's always nice to see what people look like! Do you have a self-portrait up on your site, Sesan? smile
Nice to see so many smiles! It's cold and sloppy with wet snow here today, and no one feels very cheerful. Your collage brought out a bit of sun!
Ginnie Hart: Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine! Thanks, Patrushka. smile

Ginnie, this is just so touching. A testiment to the power our words and photographs have in touching lives and expanding world views. I believe that once we begin to see our selves more globally as citizens of the world, we will realize that we are ALL more the same than different.

Good for you, you are a minister of peace.
Ginnie Hart: Between you and Viktor, we have been given our philosophical sermonette of the day, Kathryn! I totally agree. Thank you for your very kind words.

I have a feeling that you are near the top of the list for being next. Hildesheim is so near Hannover and I do get there from time to time still. I'll definitely let you know when I'll be there next. smile

Oh ja, drie vriendelijke, vrolijke, actieve vrouwen met een optimisische levenshouding- dit kan je zien! Een prettige Advent toegewenst van Philine
Ginnie Hart: Optimistic life attitude! I like that, Philine, and yes, it is very fitting. Thank you!
Very kind of your to share these precious images with us. How nice it is to put a face on a name. Great montage Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Richard. This was definitely my pleasure!! smile
Hi Ginnie - it's really nice to be able to meet everyone you meet via your blog! Hello to Scarlet and Astrid - always good to put a face to a name. Glad you all had such a great time.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: I totally agree, Ingrid. I feel very lucky to have met so many wonderful Chancers up close and personal! Thanks.

WOW Ginnie, you did a good job there, I am impressed (as always) I do have to find out how to put more than one pictures up at once. I agree to all the comments, sometimes it is better NOT to know the person behind the story grin but in this case, please to meet you all tongue, I'll bet some of them are a 'little' envious of us, it is only 1.30 hours by train, that is the advantage of living in a 'small' country and we can meet up for a 'small' tonguetonguetongue lunch if they want to find out what we had for lunch, they have to look good, I am not telling, that's up to you my dear friend!!!! Have a nice sunday sorting out 'some' pictures you took yesterday grin
Ginnie Hart: I think I have a good excuse now to go back earlier than the spring, Astrid? grin HA! Or maybe you'll come to Amsterdam and I can show you here.

A little bit of envy is good if it gets some people out and about to meet each other! smile And yes, here's the link (which I'll also give to Mike, since you really piqued his curiosity!):
http://ginniehart.blogspot.com/2007/12/another-blogger-meet-up.html

Miles to go with all of the photos from yesterday's Sinterklaas. YES, indeed!
Nice to put faces to the names in such an informal way. Having read Astrid's comment I am now curious to know "What did you have for lunch?" Guessing either not so small or had a large liquid component ;o)
Ginnie Hart: No liquid compound, Mike, (we were drunk on each other), but a very decadent meal in the most lovely restaurant you can imagine:

Awh shucks. Thank you Ginnie the photo's look really nice. Unfortunately that big smile isn't going to make a reapperance for a while.. it's too painful smile smile
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhh. I'm so sorry for you, dear lady! It hurts me to think of it. Bless your heart. Maybe by Thursday you'll be able to smile? So glad I met you BEFORE the mishap!
I am sure that everything what you set out you are going it to obtain, Ginnie! You are one of the main souls of this warm and friendly community. Thanks to be here... always!
Ginnie Hart: José Angel! While I was taking my shower, I remembered YOU and that I had not added YOU to my list of SCers for Jose-Ann. OMG! I'm so ashamed and embarrassed. Well, maybe I was saving the best for the last! grin HA! (Does that get me out of hot water???)

Amen to that José, tonguetonguetongue and don't anybode dare to say something else grin
Ginnie Hart: You didn't see José Angel's private comment to me, Astrid, that gently "chided" me for forgetting to add him to the list above to Jose-Ann (PixelPixie). Didn't HE count to make the list! Yes, of course. I told him I was saving the best for the last...in hopes that'll get me out of hot water. (That's the problem with naming people: you're always bound to leave someone very important off the list!) sad

On the other note, I usually get what I want but I don't usually want much (that's the key!). grin
Very nice montage. You all look so happy! All the best, Dave.
Ginnie Hart: Very happy, Dave! Thank you kindly. smile

Fabulous montage, Ginnie.

It would make an excellent ad for a Dentist. [grin]

There seems to be a lot of humour and friendliness about this whole SC crowd, as your montage illustrates.
Ginnie Hart: HA! We won't tell Scarlet that, Ray. I'm guessing she's fed up with dentists right about now. smile

Yes, indeed. I think our SC community is very special!
Lovely images and very very well put together Ginnie grin
Ginnie Hart: Coming from you, S/S, I'm gonna take that as a compliment. grin Thank you.

You are becoming a bonding factor it seems to me. You have met so many of the europeans and brits. It is always interesting to put faces to the people/comments.

I cannot remember that you have reported meeting up with some of the US/Candian luminaries. OK, I know northern america is large, but some must be living not too far away from you?

Another great collage of friendship.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Louis, Viktor (VZ) and I plan to meet up in Atlanta some time after the New Year. He'll be my first Stateside SCer! How nice, right?!

Thanks for your very kind comment. It means the world to me!
