Lovely, very delicate and calming scene.
Ginnie Hart: It does have that feel, doesn't it, Jewlya. Thanks.

Lovely shot, Ginnie. The Fall colors of the leaves really stand out!
Ginnie Hart: Against the dark canal, just about anything stands out, Kay. That's why the leaves caught my eye! Thanks.

At first glance I thought the leaves were on a surface. Aren't they so lovely?
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Kathryn, they ARE on the surface of the water, if that's what you mean? Thanks for your comment.
Simple and perfect picture Ginnie ! A likey, of course.
Ginnie Hart: Always a sweetheart, Flo! Thank you.

Let me answer with a poem of Rainer Maria Rilke. I love the fall, especially because of the different, exuberant colours of the leaves. It is a pity that the sky is here so grey-cloudy! In the last days there was Indian summer atmosphere and the colours were gleaming.

Die Blätter fallen, fallen wie von weit,
als welkten in den Himmeln ferne Gärten;

unendlich sanft in seinen Händen hält.

The leaves are falling, falling as if from afar,
as if withered in the distant gardens of heaven;
with nay-saying gestures they fall.

And in the nights falls the heavy earth
from all the stars into loneliness.

We all are falling. This hand there falls.
And look at the others: it is in all of them.

And yet there is one, who holds all this falling
with infinite gentleness in his hands.

Ginnie Hart: OMG! I don't think Donica had a clue that she was up there with the likes of Rilke! I'll have to make sure she reads your poem, Philine. Thank you yet again for adding so much value to whatever I post! smile
tout simplement superbe
Ginnie Hart: Always a sweetheart, O-P! Thanks.
Gorgeous! The grey water is a perfect foil for these glorious leaves. Fabulous frame, too. (:o)
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roz!

Wow Ginnie, autumn in Amsterdam, those leave say it all, great capture smile
Ginnie Hart: The leaves really do say it all, Astrid. I'm missing autumn in Atlanta right now but I'm not complaining. It's here in all its glory! Thanks.

a nice and simple tale of autumn...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, David. I thought so, too. smile
once again...well done ginne!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much, DrAW.
Nice simple shot but with great contrast and invokes an image of seasonal change. Nice. All the best, Dave.
P.S. the canals round my way have many rusting shopping trolleys and bicycles to provide an challenging environment for the ducks!
Ginnie Hart: Hmmm. Does that mean you have some great photos of the like to show us soon, Dave? smile I hope so. Take care and thanks.
Donica, is right. The showy thing of the photo is the absence of reflections in the water, for that reason the sensation of weightlessness. I like!

P.D. Tomorrow between 19:00 - 19:30 LOL ! wink
Ginnie Hart: It was so strange to NOT have reflections in this photo, Jose. You're right!

Tomorrow indeed, just at the end of the footbridge, in front of the sea! How fun is that!

Autumn is drifting...the boat-leaves will start their journey without destiny, which is the best way to travel.
A favourite for me!!
Ginnie Hart: We actually leave for Barcelona tomorrow, Lina, and will get on a boat the next day for a Mediterranean cruise. How did you know!!! smile

Ginnie I just love this shot, the freedom to float. The water is so still, lets hope your floating cruise will be as calm.wink
Ginnie Hart: HA! I actually like a bit of turbulence, Tracy, and as I recall, our last cruise didn't have any unless it was while we were asleep at night. Rocked to sleep like babies. That's my cuppa tea! smile

The freedom to float. Sounds really like what the doctor ordered! Thanks.

The water looks so cold, it gives a great contrast agaist the warm color of the leaves.
Nice shot Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: I'm guessing it is very cold these days, Magnus , since it's getting down in the 40s (F) at night. I certainly wouldn't want to fall in! The leaves do warm it up a bit. Thanks.

Excellent autumn picture. They do like they are floating.

I love these autumn pics that are coming up now. This one is a Kiss of autumn.

Must be why you americans call it fall. All the leaves fell in the water smile
Ginnie Hart: I usually call it Fall, Louis, because that's what I grew up with. Makes sense to me smile Thanks.
Perfect. It just screams FALL. Well done.
Ginnie Hart: I thought so, too, Gail. smile Thanks.

She has a point! Beautiful colors. This would work great in b/w too.
Ginnie Hart: Hmmm. It never occurred to me to put these fall colors in B&W, but since you're the master, I'll take your word for it, Martin. smile Thanks.
Autumn gives us plenty of opportunities, nice one Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it does, Nigel. Thank you.
Hi Ginnie.. great framing to match the leaves. What a beautiful time of the year.

Beautiful shot Ginnie - autumn is definitely here. So simple but it does the job magnificently. David.
Ginnie Hart: You are so very kind, David. Thank you.
I agree with Donica..the small particles on the surface look like stars smile

Great Autumn colours

Ginnie Hart: Awww. What an eye you have there, Roland! smile You just made my day.
Great seasonal photo, with a twist. Not everyone can post leaves floating on canals. smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! So true, Karen. Maybe that's why I did it. smile Thanks.
Funny that the water is so opaque.
Ginnie Hart: I know, Wim. I felt the same way. Thanks.
