photoblog image The Main Drawbridge

The Main Drawbridge

This is a series of pics from Weesp, where Donica works, a 10-minute train ride east from Amsterdam, Holland.  I had 2 hours of wandering around there last trip, on September 13.

This is the same drawbridge as from yesterday's post, after it was lowered.
Talk about a typical Dutch scene!

[Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

A very Dutch pic, I like it, especially the reflections in the water and the clouds. De wolkenluchten ( this word can't be translated in another language, for it means more than 'clouds'wink are typical Dutch, too, and many, many other phenomena... (but "Das ist ein weites Feld", would say Theodor Fontane in his novel "Effi Briest")!
Ginnie Hart: I always learn so much from you, Philine. Thank you!

Timeless beauty and so typical of the beautiful countryside surrounding Amsterdam.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Mike. Thanks.
It's like I have seen this before with a boat, and I'm not thinking of yesterdays pic....

A very nice bridge it is smile
Ginnie Hart: The Magere Brug in Amsterdam is a similar but bigger bridge, Aksel. I showed that awhile back and maybe you're thinking of it?

Anyway, thanks.
Great construction. That means your image as well as the bridge. richard.

I likey. Hope you're all having fun!
Ginnie Hart: We've had a fabulous day, Ruth...eating lunch and dinner at 2 very special places, going through the Anne Frank House, walking to the Dam and the Red Light District, and then to the one windmill in the city. A full day of walking and seeing a lot! We're all happy campers. Thanks. smile
It certainly is scenic - they've even put baskets of flowers for the passing boats to look at! Lovely shot.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: I loved those flowers that were o all the bridges, Ingrid. Very lovely! Thanks.

It is a lovely shot, Ginnie, but I like yesterday's long-shot even better.
In this shot the gorgeous reflections in the olive water are the highlight for me.
Ginnie Hart: I agree, Ray. Yesterday's shot was my kind of place. Thanks for backtracking. I missed you. smile
