Weesp

Since I fly back to Amsterdam later this afternoon, here's a series of pics from nearby Weesp, where Donica works almost half of the year.
It's 10 minutes by train ride from Amsterdam.

It's because of this small town that I fly to Amsterdam every month, so it's important to pay homage to it!

[This afternoon I fly back to Amsterdam from Atlanta, arriving tomorrow morning.
My daughter and her best girlfriend are joining us for a long weekend at our apartment.
Their first time in Amsterdam!]

This looks like a pleasant place all right. The Dutch are good at the small town thing smile
Ginnie Hart: They really are indeed, Martin! I love this atmosphere!!! Thanks.
A scenic stretch of waterway, to be sure. I hope you enjoy hosting your guests in Amsterdam.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Red Pen. We are all so excited we're worse than kids. smile

Oh goody, goody! I can be the FIRST to wish you all a safe trip AND the FUNNEST time ever! I know you are going to have the best time. Love the picture too by the way.
Ginnie Hart: You will hear all about it, Judy, to be sure. We're gonna have so much fun, rain or shine. Of course, we hope we have no rain on our boat ride for Saturday. Lots of stories, I'm sure. Stay tuned. smile

Beautiful serene waterway.
Ginnie Hart: It truly is, Aussie. A bit different from the sea but still very calming. Thanks.
A very nice view, with a lovely composition.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Karen.
Amsterdam, so full of canals, been on any of those boats?. Good catch Missy.
Ginnie Hart: In Amsterdam itself we have been on boats of all kinds going back to when we were first there 9 years ago. But not here in Weesp. The difference here in Weesp is that you don't have the cityscape of Amsterdam. This is much more a small town feel. Thanks, Sesan.

Beautifully composed "postcard" image, Ginnie. Love the greenery, and the sense of slow-motion in everything.
Ginnie Hart: It definitely has a slo-mo feel to it, Ray. Not at all like Amsterdam but full of small-town charm, nonetheless. Thanks. smile
So have a nice flight Ginnie ! Amsterdam is really a pleasant city !
Ginnie Hart: We LOVE Amsterdam, Flo. It'll feel like going "home." Thanks.

Immedediatly I knew that you/we are in Holland again! What may be so typical? I think the bridge, the rows of ships and boats, the gracht or the little harbour, de wolkenluchten- ja, ik ben -metaforisch gezegt- weer thius, and I hope and wish that today you are feeling at home in Amsterdam again!
Ginnie Hart: I'm still at home in Atlanta right now, Philine (while Donica is near you in Hannover all week!) and don't get on the plane till around 5p this afternoon. We'll arrive in A'dam tomorrow morning and THEN I'll feel at home again! For sure. There's nothing quite like having TWO homes! Thanks.

very delightful serene.
Ginnie Hart: Delightful and serene it is, Olaide. Thank you.
Looks very peaceful and quiet, but I guess this is not the whole picture....
Ginnie Hart: It's not the whole picture if you're alluding to the windmills that are also there, Aksel! HA! You'll get those later. But for Weesp, this is exactly what you get without the big city feel of Amsterdam. Thanks.
tu as l'art des beaux angles de vue!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you as always, O-P.

Petra
Ginnie Hart: I'm still in Atlanta as I write this, Petra, not leaving till after 5p Atlanta time and arriving in A'dam tomorrow morning your time. BUT, I already feel welcomed back, thanks to you and Philine, etc. It will be so good to finally get autumn!
Interesting, welcome back to this side of the pond grin
Ginnie Hart: I won't actually arrive until a few hours from now, S/S, because I don't leave Atlanta till 5p this afternoon Atlanta time. But you have made me feel very welcome already, for which I thank you! smile

It has a lovely feel to it.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it does, Shakara. Thanks.
Lovely calm atmosphere in this photograph. It is a beautiful scene, too. Love the water reflecting on the hull of the boat in the foreground. (:o)
Ginnie Hart: I've become a glutton for scenes like this Roz. Thanks.
Enfin le grand jour est arrivé notre bateau franchit le pont levis du port .A nous le grand bleu

Safe journey Ginnie. Lovely crisp photo with a perfect composition ;o)
Ginnie Hart: As always, Mike, thank you kindly.
This is a really beautiful shot Ginnie, I can spend a long time looking at each detail !
Ginnie Hart: It's definitely a place I could transport to in my mind this very second. Thanks, Zeb.
Hope you have a good journey. Lovely crisp shot, it actually looks rather English.
Ginnie Hart: Well, it's on your same side of the world, Bill, which is much more "ancient" and developed than on our side. I love it. Thanks.
Great shot. What a beautifull scenery!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Richard, for stopping by and commenting! That means a lot.

What a lovely stretch of water this is, I can just imagine cruising up and down with a glass of wine and chilling on the boat,or sitting on the bank and watching the boats go by. Hope you all have a safe flight, also Amy and her friend enjoy Amsterdam(I am sure they will).Donica is lucky to work in such a nice area.wink
Ginnie Hart: On Saturday we have a boat trip lined up (on a boat for 6 that we rent with our 2 gay buddies) where we will cruise Amsterdam's canals, Tracy, with cheese and wine. How fun is THAT! I'll pretend that you will join us. smile Thanks.
You must be excited to have your daughter coming. Have fun and by the way, this is a very nice photo with lots to look at and see.
Ginnie Hart: We are super excited, Mary. It'll be our first house guests spending the night with us. So glad it could be my daughter!! Thanks.
Very pretty scene, Ginnie, with a great sky. So much better than a bland, blue sky, I think! Enjoy Amsterdam.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: The sky was really wonderful that day, Ingrid. My kind of sky when it looks threatening. For sure! Thanks.
What a lovely setting . looks like a stunning place to work... lucky you!!!
Ginnie Hart: I'm quite sure I've seen more of the city than Donica has since she just goes there to work. We could have had our apartment there instead of the big city (Amsterdam), but Donica did NOT want to be in the small town. Still, it's great to see! Thanks, Gale. We both are very lucky!

Ginnie Hart: How fun to know you can "see" what I'm showing, Astrid. I love it. Holland is such an incredible country. You can be proud of it! Thanks.

At long last a Kiss. Thank you. If I had to hold my breath any longer ...

This is such a dutch picture. Sigh. Yes I sigh a lot.

Great one and excellent use of the light (late day?)

A real dutch picture challenge: In one picture - a windmill, a dike, a cyclist, sheep (next spring I will add in some tulips as well).

Enjoy the flight.
Ginnie Hart: Louis, you're so funny. My last 3 posts have been with the KISS. You could have stopped holding your breath sooner. smile

The windmills are coming, BTW. There are 3 in Weesp but I saw only 2 that are standing side by side. I'd go back there in a New York minute! Thanks.
Lovely scene Ginnie and really nicely composed shot. Have a safe trip back and a fun weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your best wishes, Bridge. We know we'll have a great time!
Okey! A familiar encounter. She surely who enjoys Amsterdam. It is impossible not to do seeing it your photos!
P.D.: I believe that from today I am going to you to call "Ginnie Fogg" by "Phileas Fogg" by everything what you travel! LOL! wink
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Jose. I love this part of the world!! Thanks for knowing.

I see I'm going to need to learn more about Phileas Fogg if I'm to be compared to him. grin
