Yes, We also Like Soccer!

Just in case you think we know nothing about soccer, I'll have you know that when we're home in Atlanta and it's the right season, we watch my grandson, Nicholas, play.  This was from a couple weeks ago.  He's 7 years old and he's the one in the center going after the ball.

If it's not raining today, we'll all be at the soccer field at 10 a.m. Atlanta time.  :)

(And yes, I was playing around with Lighting Effects in PhotoShop.  Still don't really know what I'm doing!)

[Today I'm in Atlanta.]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son Mark...32 big ones!

Thanks to David Beckham, You guys have been introduced to "football", may be someday you guys would change your "football" to perhaps...,American Handball smileLol.
Your Grandson looks like a "Zidane". (Now he was better than Beckham) Good catch Ginnie, and Happy birthday to your son.
Ginnie Hart: I can't talk well about all the big names but I do like the game, Sesan. Donica and I even went to the World Cup game last year between Ghana and Italy (in Hannover, Germany). We had a blast! Thanks.

You were peeping on Nicholas through a big hole grin...I like when you start making experiences...they're always surprising! And I can see that Nicholas is a great player! (don't forget to tell him that I said so grin)
Ginnie Hart: Awww. That's so sweet to say about Nicholas, Lina. And yes, I have great fun messing around with PhotoShop. smile
somebody is having fun with photoshop....lol. Nice shot, the framing really brings him out.
Ginnie Hart: That would be me, Gail. I do like to play around once in awhile. smile Thanks.

Great image Ginnie.
The spotlight effect really gets the eyes to your grandson, and the poster effect is good on the clothes.
I like this.
Ginnie Hart: I think the poster effect was accidental, Ray, and after spending way too much time to get this to look the way I wanted, I just gave up and took it "as is." Anyway, it was still fun to mess around. grin Thanks.
Kids footy? ... Beats the senior game by miles! Great movement and good angle. I love it.richard.
Ginnie Hart: HA! We actually call it soccer, Richard. grin

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK have a good one.

I think one of the previous comments remarked about Beckham introducing the folks in the USA to football, What about George Best(LA Aztecs and Lauderdale Strikers), Paul Gascogine(DC United) and the Legendry Gordon Banks Goalkeeper also played for the Strikers.
Tell Nicholas to go out there today and win, but most of all enjoy taking part because thats what sport is all about. Love the shot Ginniewinkwink
Ginnie Hart: You are way ahead of me with names, Tracy, but I do know our US soccer precedes Beckham! We had a great day today...watching Nicholas do his thing again (and yes, his team won, 3-1, even though they don't make a big deal about scoring at his age). And Mark was with us the entire day, eating and playing cards with Amy and us. A nice family day! smile Thanks.

I think we were introduced to soccer in 1975 when Pel├ę started playing for the New York Cosmos. I was 19, and his FACE was the first I could recognize. He put soccer on the map in America. Our son played soccer at Nicholas' age 20 years ago, thanks to that foundation.

Love the shot, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: WOW. You have a good memory about that, Ruth! Sometimes you really surprise me. grin I didn't realize Peter played soccer. How fun. Another thing to chat with Nicholas about when they're together.

I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mark! Have fun celebrating today.
Ginnie Hart: We had a great day from 10 a.m. till we left Amy's at 7 p.m. We love that family time together, eating, playing cards, watching football. So sorry about your MSU loss today. Boo Hoo. sad
lol.... your having fun and that's the most important thing. Have a wonderful weekend smile
Ginnie Hart: If we can't laugh at ourselves, we might as well quit, right, Skee? smile

Wishing Mark a very happy birthday. Fine capture here.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Olaide.
Happy birthday Mark. Love the image Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bridge. I know that will mean a lot to him.
Does he score? Striking colours too.
Ginnie Hart: No, Nigel. We haven't seen him score yet but his position is usually half-back. He loves to get the lay of the field. smile
The framing does it here I think, Interesting structure... Like It!

And happy Bhirtday to your son Mark!

Kind regards,
Lu Mik Spastiek'
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Lu Mik!

Ah, football grin go boys. smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! And they even have girls on the team, Chris. Some of them are better than the guys. grin Thanks.
Whatever you did: a fine result.
And happy birthday to Mark. Is Nicholas his son?
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Wim. Actually, Nicholas is my daughter's son. But Mark is the proud uncle. smile

lol - its a good shot Ginnie, I like the determination in his body shape, he's going to be a winner ;o)
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for saying so, Mike. He seems to enjoy sports a lot and it makes us wonder if maybe he'll stick with some of them for awhile!
Nice shot Ginnie. Have just been watching England beat Australia in the quarter final of the Rugby World cup. We hate losing to Australia so am on a high!
Ginnie Hart: Don't we love our teams, Bill! What would the world be like without our sporting matches!!!

Happy birthday Mark, Ginnie, I just saw all those pictures on you other blog!! Nice serie, but I agree withe Gail Wiley: somebody had fun with photoshop but.... you are a proud grandma!!!! smile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, I am definitely a proud grandma, Astrid. And we are the ones who get to brag. grin Thanks a million.
Very nicely done Ginne and I hope Mark had fun today. Playing foortball 9 soccor ) was part of our extremely organised school sports progame when I was a kid way back when. Beckham nor any of the others mentioned above brought the game to us yanks oh and now that I think about it the Brits have only managed to beat us once in the last 30 years. Ok I'll calm down now. smile

J
Ginnie Hart: HA! We sure do love our stories, don't we, Johmmy. I think playing sports as kids is such an important part of the growing-up process. We're lucky that Nicholas is really enjoying his participation. Thanks.
Well caught Ginnie. But what are they playing on? It looks like astroturf!
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: No, Ingrid, it's not astroturf! When I was working on this effect it did some strange things to the grass field. After spending way too much time on it, I just gave up and let it be "as is." Oh well. But thanks. smile

Very cute and a lovely image for him to enjoy.
Ginnie Hart: I have so many photos of him, Aussie, that I hope he'll enjoy some day!! Thanks.
Ahahah! American youth is beginning to understand that soccer has future! LOL. Your Nicholas grandson is a good exponent. Perhaps some watchman of the Bar├ža is watching its evolutions to file to him! Your games with PS have given a very good result. Finally, to congratulate your Mark son. Today, also is the birthday of my sister-in-law (50) shhhhh wink
Ginnie Hart: HA! Wouldn't it be fun if we could see what he'll be doing with sports 10-15 years from now!! Thanks, Jose. Mark will appreciate the birthday wishes.
Oh bless him. You are not doing a bad job with your experiments.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Busola. smile

Lovely - one of those pictures from the other site - stirred up and served. I dunno what you have done, but it looks quite OK. A retro hapiest to Mark and hope Nicholas won yesterday.

So when are you going to put up some rugby shots?
Ginnie Hart: I don't know what I did either, Louis, but it was fun. And yes, even though they don't make a big deal out of keeping score at this age, we adults know they won, 3-1. smile Thanks.

Rugby? What's rugby?? grin (You're lucky you got soccer ouuta me!)
Very interesting effects. You can't figure out how to use them if you don't experiment!
Ginnie Hart: That is so true, Karen. Maybe next time I'll have a head start. smile
