photoblog image My Glad

My Glad

I don't know how many of you English speakers use the expression "My Bad" when you make a mistake.  The title of this pic is a play on that phrase, since this is a Gladiola (gladiolus, from the Iris family) from our rock garden.
I have used Photoshop's watercolor filter on it.

This evening after work, we pack up a rented van and drive 850 miles north from Atlanta to the Hart Family Cottage in Michigan for the July 4th holiday.  We do this every year for the big family reunion.  There will be 4 adults (daughter Amy and her fiance will join us) plus my grandson, driving through the night.

Because we will not have reliable Internet access and because I want to devote my energy to the family, I will not post any pics till Sunday when we return.  Just promise that you won't forget about me!

Awesome! I've had little luck with the watercolour feature - this is striking! Happy 4th of July!
Ginnie Hart: On this one, PB, I applied the filter twice, which seemed to help. I think if you play around with the settings, you can make it work the way you want. But I'm still learning how to use it myself! Thank you kindly.

Outstanding! I just love this effect. You rock garden must be quite a picture with flowers like these.
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhh. I love it every time I see you here, DW. Thanks!!!

Actually, our rock garden is mostly rocks and pretty bushes that we do nothing to whatsoever. One year Donica's aunt gave us these Glad bulbs and they've popped up on their own ever since! I think we're just lucky! smile
I don't say, "My bad", but ever since I first heard the phrase (only a couple of years ago at most) I've wondered how it originated.

I like the way this looks, Ginnie. Enjoy your holiday!
Ginnie Hart: According to Johnny, "the saying originated on the court as an update from my bag which has been around since the world was made." I had no idea.

Thanks a million, Karen.
Wonderful effect and so colourful. I know the expression certainly so I get the title smile Very nice!
Ginnie Hart: Glad you got it, SL. smile Thanks.

I love this picture Ginnie! You've really captured the colors well, and they are very vibrant!

I hope you have/had a very nice family holiday at the cottage. Please take good care, and arrive back home safely!
Ginnie Hart: We leave later this evening after Amy gets back from work and we load up the rental van. Today we have g'son, Nicholas, with us and will even go see a movie ("Ratatouille") while we "waste" time. smile

You, too, have a great holiday! Thanks, Kay.

Awesome shot and great PP. You have mastered the watercolor effect Ginnie. This is a treat to the eyes.

Have a great holiday with your family and take care. Be assured - we wont forget you, atleast you wont let us, wud u? grin
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Thomas. Thanks a million for your kind words!
Lovely post processing. Great job. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Sarthak!
This is beautiful Ginnie...you should print it and hang it on the wall! Magnificent post processing and great title! B-)
Ginnie Hart: Awww. You're a sweetheart, H. Thank you kindly.
Another plant that seems to struggle in my garden. I have tried to grow them several times, with little success. I shall just have to enjoy them in the form of wonderful images like this one! Enjoy your holidays and happy 4th July. (:o)
Ginnie Hart: Donica's aunt gave us the bulbs a few years ago, Rosalyn, and after we planted them, we've done nothing to them! We just watch them bloom every year! It must have been the perfect spot for them. Thank you kindly.
Have fun and a good journey to and from Michigan.
Nice shot of these flowers.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your journey wishes, Wim, and your comment!
My Glad is wonderful. Even with the watercolor filter, the edges of the flower are very sharp. Enjoy your 4th, drive safely... and I won't forget about you!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much, Sera. I am totally hooked by your graphic comics. OMG! You are so talented.

Ginnie - Who could forget you - never! Sure will miss your photo a day 'tho. I'll wait for a whole new collection from the lake. All be safe and have a wonderful time.
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. I guess you would say that, Ms. Judy! You're a true member of the family now, you realize. smile I'll take pics with YOU in mind.

I decided not to post pics since I can't comment on anyone else's. It didn't seem fair, if that makes sense.
Looks like an impressionist painting. Fabulous. All the best, Dave.
Ginnie Hart: Awww. I take that as a compliment, Dave. Thank you kindly.
I've seen this filter used in the past here on SC but this is the first time it worked for me. I've never thought that the photos looked like paintings but this one truly does. Have a great time on your vacation, Ginnie, and don't forget US!
Ginnie Hart: HA! Some of those pics in the past were probably mine, Mary. Glad this one works for you. smile

Thanks for your vacation wishes and I will NOT forget about you! I didn't want to post pics if I couldn't post comments on yours!
Great Ginnie. Nicely done, and made a nice photo very interesting.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Chris.

This inage works for me and would most likley make a very nice post card. As I'm a former basketball player "my bad " is kind of second nature. The saying originated on the court as an update from my bag which has been around since the world was made. I miss the 4th very much so have fun for me too. Oh yeah who's Ginnie ?
Ginnie Hart: So THAT'S where it comes from! I had no idea! Thanks for the heads-up, Johnny.

I promise to shoot a Roman candle for you...if you promise to remember who Ginnie is. grin
Hvae a great trip Ginnie and enjoy the time with your family.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Bernie, definitely I will! Thanks. smile

Could never forget about you! Have a great time! Look forward to seeing reunion pics!

Beautiful shot here!
Ginnie Hart: Awww. Thanks, Josie. I sure hope to get some winning shots, as always, wherever I go! smile

How gorgeous! This works so well in this artistic filter! The colors are lovely. And I am so excited I get to see you all tomorrow!!!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much, Ruth. As you know, I'm quite partial to this filter since watercolor painting is my favorite medium! "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow, you're [only] a day away!" smile

Your grandson will be driving through the night tongue Last picture that we saw of him, he didn't look old enough!

Can't wait for Suby's comment: Interesting. And you reaction - always have a chuckle about the interaction.

Great watercolour picture with lovely colours and lines in it. Just as good as the 'flowers' on some other people's blogs. smile

HAH, forget you? Fat chance.
Ginnie Hart: He does pretty well for an almost-7-yr-old, Louis, doesn't he! grin

And oh yes, that Suby is something else. I've finally got his number! grin

And you're a sweetheart as always! Your vote of confidence means the world to me, I hope you know. I'll have to always make sure you don't forget me. smile

A wonderful use of the special PS filters. I like this one very much. This is one of the more successful shots I've seen with this special effect.
Ginnie Hart: As I mentioned on your site, Don, one of the reasons why I add this PS filter is because I can't get the sharp close-ups on my camera as you can. Well, at least that's what I think. Maybe I don't know how to utilize all my camera settings yet! But thanks for your vote of confidence nonetheless! smile
Lovely image and nice treatment Ginnie. Have a good July 4th. David.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much, David. I had a great holiday!

Beautiful; the watercolour effect is spot on!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Barbro, for stopping by and commenting.
I do like it...but i think that maybe the edges of the flowers are too well definied....anyway, where are you running of to?
Ginnie Hart: Here's the same pic without the watercolor filter, Sam. It appears to be defined even in its original, doesn't it?
http://ginniehart.blogspot.com/2007/07/how-many-of-you-use-term-my-bad.html

We went to my family's cottage in Michigan for the July 4th holiday! Just returned 3 hours ago after a wonderful time!
I think watercolor filter is a good choice here...beautiful flowers and vivid colors - the background is so nice with this filter smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Aksel. I appreciate your comment.

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Suby. I like the idea of all this being fun. You, too?!!
This is relly nice Ginnie ..
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Shakara.
Gladis are one of my favorite flowers. Love your pic Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Tracy! These flowers are becoming one of my favorites, especially since they're in the Iris family (which I didn't know before I posted this).

It's gorgeous Ginnie, and it does look just like a watercolour too.

Not many flowers surviving here this year, all have been ruined by the rain, so it's nice to see some summery pictures smile

Have a fabulous time, drive safely, arrive safely and relax for a bit .. and let off a firework for me too.
Ginnie Hart: Awww. I saw this too late to set off a firework for you, Ellie, but I'll consider it done, nonetheless. Thanks. We just returned 3 hours ago after a lovely time with family and without incident while traveling.
Have a wonderful weekend, Ginnie! We aren't going to forget you smile
Ginnie Hart: We had a great weekend, Martin. Thanks for your wishes and for not forgetting me. smile
nice effect, happy 4th.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Dotun, on both counts.
Sorry Ginnie I've been less present those last days. Totally busy and fed up with work. Anyway, just want to tell you that I don't forget you, of course not. Hope you've got a great time. See you soon.
Ginnie Hart: You're so very kind, Flo. We had a splendid time and are now back home. It really was lovely. Thanks for not forgetting me. smile
Happy 4th. Lovely effect.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Aussie!!
You're welcome. I do mean it though...you ought to print this! B-) Hope you had a great 4th of July and thanks for continuing to be my inspiration circle! Cheers...

Hi Ginnie, this is gorgeous. What I would like to know if a printed version would look as beautiful as on screen. Have you ever tried to print one?
Ginnie Hart: No, I haven't tried to print this, Julia, but I may try it. I think it would make a nice greeting card, perhaps. Thanks.
Very nice experiment - As a painting ! I like it !
Ginnie Hart: It was fun to do, Zeb. Thanks. smile
