Surf's Up

HA!  This is Amsterdam's version of Surf's Up.

Last Sunday we took a boat ride in the wee motor boat of some friends.  Remember when I said the canals can be a traffic jam in nice weather?  Behold!

I purposely kept this pic in color because I loved the primary colors in front of us while we were queued up.

Today I'm in BRUGGE/BRUGES, BELGIUM, for my birthday weekend!  Donica was already in Brussels on business and had me train down to join her there yesterday afternoon.  Then we continued on to Brugge where we will be till Sunday.  That Donica is something else!

I do remember...this is nice and quite different from that shot. Have a good birthday weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bridge. HA! I'm up early while Donica still sleeps. The day is yet before us!!

Yay! You got to Bruges again. I remember you saying once how much you'd like to go back and spend some time there.

Have a fabulous birthday weekend Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: That time is now, Ellie! Thank you. We had a few glorious hours last evening that were worth it all. But there's still so much more to see...once Donica wakes up! grin
Lovely summertime shot, Ginnie. The colors are definitely worth keeping. Have fun in Brugge!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin. The new day has just begun here in Bruges and is waiting for Donica to wake up!!!

Oops, forgot to say anything about this picture. It looks as if you were just about at water level, what a scary experience, and with your camera in your hand too!

Do the arches of the bridge act as a traffic separation scheme? If so, the one on the left looks awfully low, did you have to duck?
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Ellie, our boat was not as low in the water as the one in front of us. THAT one looks scary to me but ours was not. Just a normal motor boat. smile

Good question about the bridge arches. I had never thought of that but it certainly makes sense. As you see in this pic, however, it doesn't look like it's following any logic!
I don't know if you saw the movie (maybe with your grandson) but this reminds me of "Flushed Away". Oh, and if you haven't seen it, you should. wink Have a fabulous weekend, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: We haven't seen that movie yet, Karen, but we plan to one of these days!

Hope you have a great weekend, too. The day is ahead of us...as soon as Donica wakes up! grin
Have a great weekend!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Mary. We plan to (if ever Donica gets up!) smile

Wow, I love this picture, Ginnie! It makes me want to get on a boat. Wait, I am! Tomorrow night I will be crusing along the Columbia River in the Gorge on a dinner boat. Will take snaps to post.

Have a wonderful birthday weekend, Ginnie! I'm placing this photo in my likeys!
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Kay. Hope you have a great ride...with lots of pics to show us. And thanks for your kind support!
Lovely Capture!!! And have a Fab weekend!!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Nacha. You, too!
Ah brings back fond memories Ginnie. A couple of years ago we spent two weeks touring around France and Belgium.

Our last stopping point was Bruges and we certainly saved the best until last. Fell in love with the place and keep thinking I should really go back one day soon.
Ginnie Hart: We were here for a day 9 years ago, Bernie, and said we had to go back some day. That's what Donica remembered, so that's why she surprised me! It's definitely better the second time around, especially since I now shoot with a digital camera! smile

Ginnie Hart: Good, Ruth, because I'd like to think you were there with us. Thanks, again and again. smile

Have a great weekend in Bruges (oh God...how I envy you smilesmile) Your photo is great. The detail that catched my attention was " the three happy t-shirts on a boat" contrasting in such a funny way with the ancient look of that amazing place.
Ginnie Hart: HA! The new is always mixed in with the old these days, isn't it! I guess we have to get used to it. Thanks, Lina! Wish you could share Bruges with us.
Bruge la belle! j'y retournerai cet été
Ginnie Hart: Oh, O-P. You'll love it. It's such a wonderful city! I'll be sure to save some of it for you. smile
Wow how beautiful! Wish could be there! Happy B-day, by the way!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly for stopping by and commenting!
Its the human factor. We crowd everything including the air we breath. Nwayz. Im happy you are enjoying yourself out there. Loving the picture.
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Busola. Sigh.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and commnting.
Must visit Amsterdam one day. Your pictures have brought it to life. All the best, Dave
Ginnie Hart: If you haven't been here yet, David, you'll find it to be a unique city in every way! Thanks.
Me thinks they should give you the Key to the city of Amsterdam. You are really doing loads of dollars worth of tourism promotion here.
Ginnie Hart: Busola, I think I will hire you as my marketing agent! smile
It is certain, the colors emphasize of a shining way. I like the perspective from the surface of the water!
Ginnie Hart: That was so fun to see it all from the perspective of being in a boat, Jose. Thanks.

Great shot - Brugge is a wonderful place indeed. Nice spot of the primary colours. I don't think traffic separation is intended, but it works out that way mant times - water rules applies on these canals. The blue boat demonstrates the exception - too large to go through the right-hand arch.
Ginnie Hart: That makes sense, Louis. And sometimes sense is all it takes...unless later into the night there is too much celebration going on! Wonder what happens then!
The birthday weekend sounds very lovely.

Glad you kept the color - the primaries are eye catching.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Red Pen, for supporting the decision. smile

definitely! really a big fan of the colors here, amsterdam's buildings are so colorful, too. such neat architecture. it must be kind of a trip to be in a city that's older than the United States.

just catching up with what i've missed...
Ginnie Hart: I still remind myself of the age differential, Alex. It blows my mind!
