Bike Graffiti

I guess you had to be there, but this really struck me funny when I saw it last week on one of my Amsterdam walks.  I LOVE this kind of creativity.  I especially like the words I can read, like 'brake' and 'front.'   :)

[Today I'm in Amsterdam, getting ready to fly back to Atlanta tomorrow.]

Lol !! Divertida moto !! Tiene un aire muy retro y hippie!
Lol! Funny moto! It has an air very retro and hippie!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Jose, you're right. Very Hippie! grin
Isn't that wild?! There are so many funny details that pop out as you look at it - like the eyes and nose and the words. And it is so colorful. Nice capture.
Ginnie Hart: So glad you're reacting to it like I did, Red Pen. It still brings a smile to my face. smile
Creativity is my friend. Love the shot.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mary. Sometimes creativity is all we have!

Great stuff Ginnie, and wonderful creativity by the bike owner. Quirky. Enjoyable. Smile-enducing.
Ginnie Hart: YES! I totally agree, Jimbo. He/she has a great sense of humor. It would have been fun to see the owner come out and take off on it. I would love to put a face with that bike. smile

this would be so fun to ride around. this reminds me of an apartment i shared with a friend...we labeled everything in the place (oven, fridge, throne, phone), it was funny to be so obvious. this bike is incredible!
Ginnie Hart: It just dawned on me that the 'bone' words are probably 'bone max' and since there's a bit of an animal face above, that's probably a dog and Max's bone! HA! What a riot.

Sometimes when you're learning a new language they have you label everything in the house so that you'll learn the new words. But it cracks me up if you did it in your own language, Alex! grin
LOL!!! this is very cute, Ginnie! Especially so, since I had a scooter for a short while, although not as colorful as this one. They are so fun to ride! I can tell the owner of this scooter thinks along those lines too!
Ginnie Hart: I had one, too, Kay--a Honda scooter for when we lived in Pasadena years ago. So fun. It was baby blue but NOT full of colorful grafitti like this one. Someone sure has a sense of humor here. I'd love to see exactly who he/she is! smile
So colourful! I'm so glad you shared this with all of us. It's so much fun to travel the world on Shutterchance.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Karen, it is! It's a small world when we can all chuckle over something fun like this!
Thats an amazing piece of art Ginnie. Very well spotted and captured. Thanx for sharing this - I have never seen anything like this before.
Ginnie Hart: Me neither, Thomas. Someone sure had fun. It IS a piece of art, isn't it. I wonder if he/she would be surprised to see it on the Internet? smile

Ha ha! Great catch, Ginnie. This made my day.
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. So glad, Ted. smile
Great shot! Love the face. Also the color framed by the gray cobble stone. I just saw the "brake" writing, funny! Reminds me of college when we used to paint our bicycles. This would make a nice large poster sized print.
Ginnie Hart: HA! It's fun when something like this brings back happy memories, John!
Funny indeed and what a creativity ! Rembrandt would have loved this one (I guess) !
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'm quite sure Rembrandt would have loved this. Don't you wonder what he would paint today if he were alive! Thanks, Florence.
Well captured , somebody definately paid this scooter a lot of attention..
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Shakara. smile
lol...wonderful shot, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bridge. smile

Great fun picture. I like the face on this pony's front. Imagine crossing the street and you look around to see this face bearing down on you. The paintjob reminds me of yesteryear's painting of VW's - something to do with it when it gets old.

Peace, sister.
Ginnie Hart: The Hippie-Flower-Mother-Earth days, Louis. We remember them well, don't we! smile

Peace, if only!
Really Pwetty! .... Ginnie - since I met u , I have met so many soulful people ... wow! awww, enjoy your flight to Atlanta and my luv to Donicasmile
Ginnie Hart: You will continue to meet soulful people, Ade. You will attract who you are! And thanks for the travel wishes.

OK, this is fantastic!

+ So the owner is English/American, or painted it for the benefit of English speakers?
+ The painter (don't know if it's the owner) is not just creative, but very artistic. That's some damn fine work there! Maybe a student at the Art Inst. of Amsterdam?
+ I love the colors.

I just heard on NPR yesterday that psychodelic art is finally being recognized in museums (think there was a retrospective at the Tate, and now at the Whitney), which is cool. But I don't think this is psychodelic. Looks more like graffiti art to me. From one who lived through it (psychodelic, that is). smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Yes, I have to keep remindling myself that you ARE 11 years younger. grin You experienced things about which I have no clue, Ruth. Why do I find that so deliciously funny! smile
LOL, lovely picture Ginnie.. Do you know what the painter has smoked before ???
Ginnie Hart: HA! No idea, Roland. Well, maybe I have an idea. smile
wow, I wonder how much time it would have taken to get that painted, Ginnie this is nice, have a safe trip.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Dotun, for the travel wishes. Good question about how long it took to get this to look like this. Don't we all want to know!
Well spotted Ginnie and nicely captured.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bernie.

Graffiti on the move, good shot.
Ginnie Hart: HA! You're right, Les.
Someone found a good way to spend their excess time smile
Ginnie Hart: That's for sure, Martin. smile

A terrific shot in all ways. I could not have resisted it either. I'm reminded of a shot I took in Venice of a lady bicycling with a small dog peering out from a wicker backpack or another in a town near Naples of a guy on a motor scooter zooming through the center of town while balancing a ten foot tall ladder. How can we not shoot such joyful surprises. Without demeaning these shots in any way, they fall on the side of documentation or journalism, but that was our intent.
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Ted! Thanks for sharing your own memories of joyful surprise.
Not difficult to agree with you - this is great creativity. Thanks for sharing this funny, creative bike smile
Ginnie Hart: You're more than welcome, Aksel. It was begging to be snapped.

Hehe, that's some funky scooter you spotted Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: Yup. It kinda stuck out like a sore thumb, Chris. smile
Lol smile I can't imagine what is going to happen when the owner is going to have a car ( or maybe a truck ) smile Very well done Ginnie !!
Ginnie Hart: HA! Good point, Zeb. It'll be a masterpiece, for sure. smile
