Shutterchance Smiles

Two Shutterchancers in less than a week is really quite amazing!  First Ade last Thursday and then Petra (pronounced PAY-tra) yesterday.  I could say something like "Whatever did I do to deserve this!"  Instead, I'll just say that being intentional about blogger meet-ups brings untold delights.

We met at the art market on the Spui square in Amsterdam at 10a and then rented bikes for the rest of the day, crossing the Ij bay on the free ferry to North Amsterdam.  Yakkity-yak, yakkity yak!  Two Gemini going at it 100 mph!  Once back to the Spui, Donica joined us for a coffee before we bid our adieus at 5p.

What can I say.  When you're happy, you're just plain happy.  That's all there is to it.  Thanks, Petra!

Aw, what a great picture of the two of you! You're right, Ginnie, meeting up with two Sc'ers is very amazing, since we are all spread around the world.

I'm very glad you had a wonderful time. This is a great picture taken of the two of you. smile
Ginnie Hart: We had a fabulous time together, Kay, for 7 hours! The time really flew. And since we're both Gemini, we had no problem whatsoever finding something to talk about. smile
This sounds like a lot of fun. You must be doing something right to jetting around the world meeting SC people while the rest of us sit at home smile
Ginnie Hart: I think it has somethig to do with turning "old," Martin. smile Maybe it'll happen to you? It really was a lot of fun. A day to remember.
nice one Ginnie, now I am jealous smile when are you coming to the DC area smile
Ginnie Hart: You are one person, Dotun, I have a feeling I will meet some day. And maybe Ruth will be with me!! smile
Nice to meet you both ! That's great Ginnie ! You seem both happy together !
Ginnie Hart: It was definitely a happy day, Florence. Thank you. smile
Nice to see those smiles Ginnie. I like the art work in the backdrop. Good to know that you two had a nice time smile
Ginnie Hart: The smiles say it all, don't they, Thomas. And that was at the beginning of our time together. They were even bigger at the end of the day. smile
A nice photo, who made it?
I am glad that you two had a good day, and that you were fortunate with the weather too!
Ginnie Hart: OMG! All praise to you, Mr. Wim!!! Your pic, my camera. It was an absolute delight to meet you and to see your incredible artwork up close and personal. I cannot tell you how much we will cherish the piece we bought from you. You are one very gentle and amazing artist! And I mean that sincerely!!!

Thank you so much for your part in getting Petra to me. smile
Happy smiley faces...lovely picture.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bridge. I'm so glad Smiles can tell a story all by themselves. smile
Ginnie .. You are on a roll
Ginnie Hart: HA! You're right, Shakara. But no one else that I know of is on the horizon for any time soon. smile
You are one very lucky young lady ! Did Donica take this shot ?
Ginnie Hart: I AM lucky, Johnny, and I'll be the first to admit it.

No, Donica didn't take this shot. Petra came to the city with Wim, a dear friend of hers who sets up his incredible etchings here at the Spui. He actually commented up above but here's his link:

The pleasure of your meeting shines through nicely, Ginnie. I can well imagine the yakkity-yak that went on ;-)
Ginnie Hart: HA! I probably have the slight edge on the yak but remember, I'm also older and have more practice! smile

I'm glad the pleasure shines through, Jimbo. And this was at the beginning of our time. You can imagine what it was at the end, 7 hours later!
It's really nice to meet you there Ginnie... You've both got a so nice, nice smile... A black & white picture that sound like a sun ray !
Ginnie Hart: It was sunny all day, Roland, until just at the very end when we had our Good-Bye coffee with Donica. I think the sky was crying because it knew we would soon be saying Good-Bye. Thank you for your sweet comment.
Those tell tale shoulder straps - no guessing they're camera bags! It's plain as day you two had a very happy time together and I shall look forward to the pics from your excursion.
Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, PP, we really took very few pics! We were too busy riding our bikes or sitting down somewhere and talking. Some day I plan to go back on my own when I can stop and take as many pics as I want! smile

Yes, I think your smiles are lovely, but there is something about this photo that says: we are on a mission! smile And I suppose the mission was twofold - bike riding and getting acquainted. Oh, and, "I sure do hope we can find some good photographs of Amsterdam."
Ginnie Hart: We were definitely on a mission, Ruth! In the end, we took very few pics and not as much bike riding as we had thought. But we sure did sit down for coffees or lunch and gab the time away! THAT will be my best memory of the day. smile
très beau portrait!
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, O-P!
I see wim has a blog as well. Seems it was a bit of a two for one! Yea!
Ginnie Hart: You are absolutely right, Josie. Two for the price of one. smile
Otra gran cita, Ginnie !! Al parecer fue genial !! Enhorabuena!

Another great appointment, Ginnie! Apparently he was brilliant! Congratulations!
Ginnie Hart: She was better than brilliant, Jose. The whole day was a true delight. smile

Sounds like a fabulous day out Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: It surely was, Chris! When will WE meet up, I wonder. smile
What fun, Ginnie! It's good that you look for these opportunities.
Ginnie Hart: Let's all keep our eyes open, Red Pen. This is a great community for meet-ups!

Ginnie,thanks for sharing your joy.
I can feel it all the way across the ocean.
That is kind of amazing to me!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it IS amazing, Carl. I like that. smile
nice shot smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, KS.
I'm glad shutterchancers meet up - maybe it's stupid but in a way I think it contributes to a more friendly and understanding world.... smile
Ginnie Hart: I totally agree, Aksel. We need to talk to each other and listen. To do that in person is the frosting on the cake!

Glad you took this photo Ginnie.."grin
Yes we had a lovely lovely day, and should do it again.
Getting to know you means a lot to me...
Petra
Ginnie Hart: I'm so used to putting the watermark on my photos that I never once thought, "Ginnie, this one isn't yours!" Yay, for Wim. He was such a willing accomplice, wasn't he! smile

Thank you, Petra, for your kind words. We will indeed get together another time and have new/different stories to share, I'm sure. smile
oOoooHohHooH Ginnie. Me jealous. When u come London it me visit ?
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling when I go back to London, Busola, there will have to be a SC meet-up because I'll want to see so many of you there! smile That will be a splendid day, and you'd better be there!
This is great Ginnie smile
2 chutterchancers meet in real life
Ginnie Hart: It really was great, Magnus! I have 2 friends from Norway on my other blog, so maybe some day I'll go back there and can meet YOU as well. smile

Aww, it's a lovely picture and praise to Wim for taking it. I've seen his site, his work is wonderful.

A fabulous day Ginnie, I'm so glad you all enjoyed it your faces say it all smile
Ginnie Hart: A picture DOES speak more than a thousand words, doesn't it, Ellie!

Glad you have visited Wim's site because he really does soulful work. My dad was a pen-n-ink artist, and my uncle (Dad's brother) did block prints. So I'm familiar with some of what Wim does. It's very tedious, labor-intensive work. Worth every penny!

And yes, I'm glad you saw the joy in our faces.

I guess this is what is a little different about the shutter community from a few others. I have seen a few flikr shots of local groups and the smiles are missing unlike your last two meetups. (though i probably think that is reflection of characters more than anything else) Its always nice to see shutter faces.
Ginnie Hart: I have had the good pleasure of meeting 5 bloggers from my other community, Neal, and have not yet had a bad experience. Donica was at first a bit leery of me meeting up with someone I only knew through the Internet. But you really do start getting a feel for people here, don't you. And clearly it makes a difference if you're meeting one on one as opposed to a larger group.

Thanks for receiving our faces so well. smile
oh wow Ginnie... I have been so busy I almost missed this... this is so cool, glad you had sooo much funsmile. Y'all look soooo happy.

Ade
Ginnie Hart: Bless your heart, Ade. I hope your move goes very smotthly this week. Pamper yourself and give yourself the breaks you need. It'll all get done and before you know it, this will be a thing of the past!

Two of you in less than a week was super happiness all around. Aren't we lucky!!!
I almost asked who took the picture, but reading through the comments now I know. What a great opportunity for you and Petra to meet each other!
Ginnie Hart: It was most lovely, Karen. Thanks.
A nice day really, I'm going to schedule a family trip in Amsterdam soon, and I would be happy to have a visit here (Champaign, wine of burgundy, ...) smile smile
Ginnie Hart: Oh, Zeb. Please let me know when you'll be here and I'll hope to God I'll be here at the same time. I would LOVE to meet you!

Amazing and totally exciting! Who's next? wink
Ginnie Hart: Awww. At this point, Julia, no one else is on the horizon. I guess it poured when it rained. smile
