photoblog image May Day, May Day

May Day, May Day

I can't speak to all the historical and political ramifications of this day but I can tell you that I grew up thinking of FLOWERS and MAYPOLES for this day every year:  May 1.

These tulips from Amsterdam seem to be chiming in chorus (with mouths wide open and their uvulas showing!):

Happy May Day!

[Today I'm in Atlanta and will start posting NYC pics tomorrow!]

very nice tight composition ginnie. though the destructor in me wants to hide snip that one leaf.
Ginnie Hart: That one leaf, Neal, is gently shielding the shy ones in the chorus. grin

Thanks for stopping by.
Well done sweet one, I love politics but I guess now is not the time. smile Yo Neil what leaf ? All is as it should be.

Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling I would be absolutely shocked at all that this day means throughout history, Johnny. So I'll keave well enough alone and just be happy with the flowers!

As I told Neal, that one leaf is shielding the shy ones in the chorus. grin

Ginnie - I knew we'd get tulips sooner or later. I've loved the wait and it's definitely been worth it. Beautiful! Wish I could put them on my table and enjoy them. I'll just come look here.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I should have knowm this was you, Judy! But thanks for confirming it.

Oh my gosh!!! Now I don't even know my own name. What a dummy (me)but still a beautiful pic.
Ginnie Hart: I'm laughing out loud, Judy! A fun confusion. grin
Well, I can't deny I love tulips. This is a great shot, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Karen. What is it about tulips! I wonder if it's their short life? They seem to come and go so quickly. Grab them while you can!

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mad. I'll go check out the questions TODAY! smile
Great Ginnie! You sure you didn't steal this from a pack of tulip bulbs?? wink
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, truthfully, Chris, I never even looked at all those packages of bulbs ready to be shipped all over the world. Actually, I DID look at the bulbs but not the labels. smile
Happy May Day for you too and what a nice picture. Tulips are the queen of the day... a very nice Ginnie !
Ginnie Hart: Queen for a Day. Wasn't that a nice show eons ago, Florence?! grin
Hot stuff Ginnie. Glorious. Perfect Post. Happy May Day to you too! (I've posted a very quiet bunch of Lilly of the valley for May Day!)

I could't get that alternative page option to work to see the pink tulips pre-treatment but even so, I think that one compositionally has the edge on this one but I do like the open tulips here. Once spotted, I'm inclined like nev!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, PP. As I told Neal, that one leaf is shielding the shy ones in the chorus. grin
Well done again Ginnie ...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Shakara.

Absolutely gorgeous, Ginnie. A perfect choice for the day that's in it, and a nice reminder of Amsterdam.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Jimbo. I'll be going back to Amsterdam on the 14th, so this pic makes me smile. smile
I've just arrived home from my vacation and woke up to snow flurries. I can hardly stand it and am so happy to look at your flowers for this first day of may.
Ginnie Hart: Are you kidding me, Mary!?! Oh my. I've got loads of tulip pics to send you, then!!! Bless your heart. When spring comes, you'll REALLY celebrate!

This uvula thing - is it polite to speak about it in public? smile

Colours fill the frame from side to side - another excellent dutch picture.
Ginnie Hart: I'm laughing out loud, Louis. I just knew you'd come up with something like that!!!! grin

Ever thanks for your wonderful comments that make me smile. smile
Very sharp, nice detail, excellent colors
It┬┤s a beautiful May day smile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it's a beautiful day here in Atlanta, Magnus. But no tulips at our house except for these. smile
How come we both have tulips today on our blogs??? Lovely capture, beautiful colours Ginnie, wonderful shoot...makes me envy! Have you applied any filter here?
Ginnie Hart: I love the syncronicity, Monika! Yours is gorgeous!

No, no filter this time. No monkeying around. grin
It is certain, seems a choir of voices hard singing┬ů alive 1┬║ of May! (Very pretty photo)
Ginnie Hart: Very alive and well, Jose. smile Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Deb.
Beautiful colours - I keep looking at them to find out what to wright to you, and I just sence that I'm smiling more and more for every second I look at it.... Conclusion: Your pic is a button for making me feel good today - thanks smile

Flippin heck Ginnie - where would you rate this on your blog? it's a very very well constructed and produced image! Beautiful. mal
Ginnie Hart: Seriously, Mal, I'm kinda surprised because I'm not sure I'd rate it as my best. You know what I think it is? When a pic is square or almost square, it fills up more of the screen. And that takes me back to you wanting SC to enlarge the landscape scope of our pics. Have you gotten anywhere with that??

And thank you, kind sir, for your comment!

Wow, that's fabulous! Beautiful and so 'perfectly Dutch'

Sorry I haven't commented on your recent pictures, I might not have time to catchup properly. Hopefully I'm just about back to normal now. smile
Ginnie Hart: Very Dutch indeed, Ellie. I couldn't resist it for May Day. smile

You have no need to apologize or catch up. We all have our times when we have to be "away." And hopefully we ALL understand. But I did miss you. grin
happy belated May day. Those flowers look soOhoooHHhh lovely
