Amsterdam's Lady

This is for Chris P (Eclectic)!

If you look at Chris' pics regularly, you'll know exactly why this is for him. If not, you can check out his archives but here's a good example.  [And here's what he posted today, unbenownst to me!]

This is the only Lady Bug I found last week while walking around in Amsterdam.  I believe it's covering a water valve on the sidewalk and is only 6 inches (15cm) or so long.

[This morning Donica and I fly from Atlanta to New York City for a week of vacation, something she needs desperately!
My sister, Ruth (from Michigan), will be with us for 2 days, along with her daughter who lives there and is turning 26!]

Ginnie these lady bugs are the logo of the "battle" against useless violence in The netherlands....children over here can put this bug on some place on the pavement where they choose it to be...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you so much for this added information, Petra. It really does make this lady bug so much more meaningful!
I really like the idea of the kids placing these ladies bugs around the city as Petra says. When I saw the thumb nail I thought this was a wall shot. Nice one.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow Ginnie, will you be in the city then I wonder !
Ginnie Hart: I am so pleased by Petra's added info, Johnny. That really helps make sense out of this pic.

Interesting to read what Petra's said, it makes this picture even more meaningful.

The magic coincidence of Shutterchance never ceases to amaze me!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Ellie. It totally changes the whole thing for me.

Most interesting nuances of the dutch daily life - a ladybug against meaningless violence.

Dp you know by now what an amsterdammertje is? If so you can post nice pictures of them. Mysterious hey?
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Louis! smile And I looked up your new word, amsterdammertje, and absolutely know what it it. I'll have to do a pic of it/them some day. Just for you. grin
Interesting especially in the context of Petra's comment.
Ginnie Hart: Absolutely, Martin. I love the added info.
