Friday's Happy Hour Solitude

Finding the light midst the darkness.

(dwarf daffodil starting to bloom in the house)

Every Friday here at our senior complex we enjoy a communal Happy Hour,

which we are soely missing these days of stay-at-home.

Great use of dramatic light to showcase this beautiful daffodil! Continue to stay safe!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Steven, and we will!

Stunning. This is a wonderful photo and it is beautifully executed.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Beth.
Magnifique jonquille sur ce fond noir.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine.

I feel myself inhaling to smell the scent even though I have no sense of smell :-O
Ginnie Hart: Oh, no, Cherry. That's no joking matter...since lack of smell and taste can be symptoms of COVID-19. sad
Just a beautiful image!! The light is wonderful!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Elizabeth, and good to see you're back safe-n-sound.
Lovely photo Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Splendid on this black background which emphasizes it well. Almost a daffodil scultpure. Have a nice day Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Marie. We received this lovely plant a few days ago from a friend here where we live and it now has 4 blooms!

This turned out beautiful, Ginnie. Thanks to a dear friend in our senior complex who thought of us. We try to have our time with each other (at distance) and I know that "Happy Hour" will be there again, one day.....
Ginnie Hart: This, too, shall pass, Astrid, indeed. In the meantime, we'll all make the best of it. Thank you.

Such a pity people can't mix in the usual way Ginnie..
Ginnie Hart: I know, Chris. We meet every Friday morning now for koffie break, 6 feet apart and no more than 10 people. If/when more than 10 people are there, we leave.

an artful image! Yes, the senior houses must be very careful, also in our country, visits of relatives are here not allowed. Yesterday I spent some protection gloves and masks I still owned to a senior house nearby.
Ginnie Hart: Bless you, Philine, for your part in this time of emergency. God have mercy on us all.
I love dwarf daffs. Yesterday I ventured to the local shop for some bit and pieces. As I came down our road two of my neighbours were chatting, one on either side of the road.So I had to walk down the middle grin

We are living in strange times
Ginnie Hart: That would have made a great photo, Bill! smile But yes, very strange times, indeed.
Heel mooi stralend staat je narcis er op zo in de donkerte .
Fijn weekend
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Marjolein. Fine weekend to us all!

Life as we knew it is on hold at the moment and we are finding new ways of entertaining ourselves. Video links and FaceTime, etc are just not the same; I miss the occasional hug.

Just reading you reply to Cherry, I've had no sense of smell or taste for a few years now; hopefully I've not been a carrier of Covid-19 for that time!
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling many more people have loss of smell/taste than we know, Alan. Often Astrid has no sense of smell. But yes, life is definitely on hold. My guess is that one year of our lives will be wiped right off the calendar. (sigh)

Très belle cette photo sur bokeh noir, j'aime beaucoup.

It looks magical Ginnie, it could be ceramic.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, I can see that, Chad. Thank you.
I just read this article literally a few minutes ago.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52135816

How do you solve a problem like Maria? Don't worry, let's keep on singing, que sera sera. Right?
Ginnie Hart: This article is touching on a sore spot for Astrid, LC, which would necessitate a long discussion...about Italy, for instance, wanting help from other countries without taxing their own people and allowing them to retire several years earlier than other countries (age 67 for women in the Netherlands and Germany but age 60 in Italy and Greece, etc.). It's not always easy to deal with the discrepancies in the EU.

They say that talking to the house plants in these times is normal. It is when they start talking back that you should start to worry. Great shot - like a light in darkness.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, never mind us, Louis, because no one would ever think WE are normal. grin Thanks.
Rho....superbe !!!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine.
A lovely pictute to cheer us all up Ginnie. Maureen hasn't had much of a sense of taste for a long time now, at least we know it can't be the virus.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Brian. And as long as Maureen has had that "symptom" since forever, you need not be concerned, indeed.
I love how you used the light. SO beautiful. Friendship
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ruthie.

this is stunning
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sherri.
I am missing weekly get together with different groups as well. We are strong and come through - just like a daffodil emerges after winter,
Ginnie Hart: That's a good metaphor, Care. We'll all make it, I'm sure!
i agree that social life is getting harder to take every day Ginnie... but Happy Hour is something that you can share with Astridgrin

Penny and i meet at the fridge at five o'clock....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: HAHA, Peter. We still have each other, YES, and because of that, we'll all make it.
Very graceful, Ginnie smile I'm guessing many of us will be looking for still life subjects over the coming weeks and months.............
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Martin, and I'm sure you're right. Maybe we'll "see" things as though for the first time!
enjoying all the spring flowers this season.
Ginnie Hart: We are, too, Ryan. Nothing to take for granted this year!
