Friday Socks

When the cat is gone, the mouse will play!

And that's what I've been doing while Astrid has been gone these last two weeks in Maine.

I have finally realized an aspiration of many years:  how to knit socks.

(If you want to know more of the process, you can see it here.)

Beautiful, colorful socks, Ginnie! I am impressed with your talent and creative flair. Have a fantabulous weekend!
Ginnie Hart: I absolutely loved the sock yarn I used, Steven, and how it was "calibrated" to make such a beautiful design. Than you.

Proud, so proud that you Knitted these perfect looking socks while I was gone. These socks look so comfortable and they look so pretty. I love the wool.
I wonder what is next on your "to-do-list-for-twenty-twenty", Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you for your support in my doing this project, Astrid, even viewing it over FT. Your pride makes the whole thing for me even more satisfying. As you know, I'm already staring my second pair. Locks of socks in 2020, I think! smile
Jolies chaussettes, elles sont uniques J'aime les couleurs
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. It was a great wool pattern for my first pair!
Wow, Ginnie! That's wonderful! Congratulations!!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Elizabeth.
These are great Ginnie ! They remind me of my Mums knitting, god bless her.
Ginnie Hart: Maybe one day my kids will be reminded of this, Frank, even though I've started late! smile
You're like Penelope who was waiting for Ulysses, you knitted and I admire those beautiful socks, I wouldn't know how to do and above all I wouldn't have the patience. Bravo Ginnie, good work, I'm sure Astrid will like to wear them.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, one day I will probably knit a pair for Astrid, too. smile

And you so enjoyed doing this wonderful project. Well done! I am pleased to hear you will be knitting more - you will become a real dab hand. Yes, and isn't that wool clever!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you for YOUR support, too, Lisl. Knitting socks has become quite addicting, I must say. smile

Oh, I admire your knitting skills!
Ginnie Hart: I'm definitely learning as I go, Philine! Bedankt.
I am much impressed Ginnie. Turning the heel is reckoned to be one of the most difficult things in knitting.
Ginnie Hart: To be honest, Bill, the gusset (attaching the heel to the rest of the sock, bottom-left image) was the most challenging part for me. But thanks.

They are amazingly good Ginnie and I love the design. You are so clever and it sounds a good way to use the time while Astrid is away.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you for your kind vote of confidence, Chad!
Echt superknap
En dat voor de eerste keer!
Met een echte hiel en teen versmalling zelfs
En dan ook nog met patronen die ook echt doorlopen !!

Zal het even vertalen met translate, nu Astrid er nog niet is smile
Really super handsome
And that for the first time!
With a real heel and toe narrowing even
And then also with patterns that actually continue !!
Ginnie Hart: Bless you, Marjolein, but I always use Bing Translator if I don't understand something, especially when Astrid isn't here. The pattern in the sock is caused by the variegated wool made especially for socks. I LOVE how it works out like that through no effort of my own!
they certainly look smart, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir!

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Willy.
OMG how did you know?!
I used to have a cat called Mittens!
I don't want socks, will you knit me a pair of mittens instead?
Ginnie Hart: LC!!! The only thing I ever want to knit is SOCKS SOCKS SOCKS. I'm afraid you're out of luck with me when it comes to mittens! sad

Isn't the end of winter a brilliant time to knit woolen socks? To my untrained eye, you have mastered the cult of knitting.

Don't forget the camera.
Ginnie Hart: I wear socks to bed almost the entire year, Louis. HA! But, yes, this has been fun!
That's a gorgeous pair of socks you've made, Ginnie... Well done... smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Sudipto.
These are gorgeous, Ginnie! I love hand knit socks and wish I had such a skill.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Care. Now that I've started, I'm finding it quite addictive!
Maureen, who spends hours of her time crafting, and I are very impressed with your first effort Ginnie, they are brilliant. Next is a pair for Astrid I guess.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Brian. Astrid is saying she wants to knit socks, too, Brian, so we may be knitting for ourselves and then maybe even for others?

Those are great socks. There is something special about the comfort of a favorite pair of socks. I am very impressed with your knitting skills. And I love the way you presented them here.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Beth. I'm ready to start my next pair today, while I'm waiting for Astrid to return home from Maine!

Bravo pour avoir tricoter cette jolie paire
JP
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, JP.
They are a beautiful pair, Ginnie! Are they a present? smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin. This first pair is for me, as is the second pair I'm working on now, mainly to get the needles size right, etc. Want I really know what I'm doing, THEN I'll make some presents. smile

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Peter.
Your socks are fabulous. I will have to ask you to knit me a pair smile
Ginnie Hart: HAHA, Cherry. Right now I'm still learning the correct needle size, etc. so I'm very happy if they fir ME. I'm on my second pair using a smaller needle.

BEAUTFUL! Those look very very cozy. What a nice surprise when she comes home.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Bonnie. I showed them to her on FT every day while I was making them, so it was seeing them firsthand when she got home that was most important to her. She was my fan club all along the way! smile
