photoblog image A Mid-Week Break

A Mid-Week Break

"The secret of happiness is freedom; the secret of freedom is courage."

(a busker's sign in his violin case, outside the Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome, Italy)

I wish I could tell you the story behind this man, but even though I've had a back-n-forth with him

and am following his Facebook page, all I can tell you is that he stands against violence to women.

He leaves the rest to our imagination.  And in the process, he moves many to tears!

Oh, he's also auditioning right now on Italy's Got Talent.

A very talented artist! I hope he does well on IGT. An interesting find on his feet! smile
Ginnie Hart: Very talented, indeed, Steven, and choosing to make a strong message with it on the streets of Rome.

I suppose there must be some action out-of-frame! smile
Ginnie Hart: I suppose you saw it in the video, Ray?
Oh wow! LOVE the top photo.... especially when joined with the full image / video below!!! And the quote, I have taped to my wall... Needing some inspiration for big decisions! smile
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Elizabeth. You would have been moved to tears that day if you had been with us. It was very powerful.

Oh...now it is visible.
Ginnie Hart: YES!
Joli noir et blanc bien composé. J'aime beaucoup la maxime.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. Well worth remembering.
Very funny, the first picture evokes a woman and on the second one... surprise! Excellent Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Definitely a surprise, Marie, but when we were there in real life, he moved us to tears. His message is very powerful.

Ginnie Hart: Yes, Chris!

Why is he wearing HIGH HEELS?

Oh well, each to their own
Ginnie Hart: Lots of questions, of course, Chris, but most of it seems to be a protest against violence to women.

From the thumbnail Ginnie, I thought it was some sort of vacuum cleaner.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, definitely not that, Chad.

That quote is wonderful and I think he is an amazing musician. I am so glad that we walked into him and we took time to listen, Ginnie. I love the processing of the picture.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Astrid. You know how he was powerful to me, moving me to tears. I really wish I knew more of his story.
Merci pour e partage insolite , je vais aller sur sa page facebook !
Ginnie Hart: He really does make you think, Claudine!
Wat een geweldige foto, je zet ons wel op het verkeerde been.
Echt mooi !
Ginnie Hart: It was quite a surprise that left tears in my eyes, Marjolein. It was quite powerful.

I would never have guess that the head of the busker belonged to the feet!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Alan.

Lovely music - I don't think he needs the gimmick of the high heels.
Ginnie Hart: I don't think the high heels are a gimmick, Alan. He's trying to draw attention to violence against women and in the process is allowing people to "go" where this takes them. I found it to be powerful and left with tears in my eyes.
J'aime beaucoup ta photo Ginnie.
Bonne journée
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Pascale.
A fine musician. Talent seems to be a handicap in talent contests.
Ginnie Hart: I wonder if he is juxtaposing his protest against violence to women, Bill, by wearing his high heels (sometimes they're red)? If so, his talent may be an asset?
well that was a bit of a shock, but he does rock those shoes lol great capture of his mystery and imagination xoxox
Ginnie Hart: If I'm any indication, Elaine, a lot of people leave him with tears in their eyes! It's a very powerful "show."
Kinky Boots!
Have you seen this film yet?

Don't tell me it was inspired by you, B.
I know too many secrets of yours.

He should have picked a pink pair, preferably with pink sequins. That would make a lot of busking money.
Ginnie Hart: He actually does wear RED stilettos, too, LC. And he is definitely making a lot of busking money, based on what we saw. It was quite powerful.
A terrific image and what a surprise when one scrolls down to the video.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Brian, and exactly. He leaves quite an impression.
I was quite surprised by the reveal, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I think we all were, Mary!

WHAT a surprise !!! How do you put up a video??? I have Mac and can't even put up another still. This is wonderful. Sure hope to meet you one day..
Ginnie Hart: Bless you, Bonnie. It would be fabulous to meet you as well. Who knows!!! One day. I don't know how to work with Mac but when you're in edit mode, you click on the Insert video icon and if I remember correctly, you enter either the embed code or the URL (which I have because of using Vimeo). I'll try to pay attention the next time.
Not many men could stand so proud in women's high heels like he does, Ginnie. A truly unique way to spread the message. Thanks so much for posting this.
Ginnie Hart: I know, Beverly. I haven't worn any kind of heels, high or low, in the last 30 years. I can't imagine they serve him well (my daughter either, for that matter), but he seems to wear them expertly. Don't you want to know more! Thank you and you're welcome.
Even I do not wear high heels. He is very invested if he can tolerate being on his feel in those all day. I wish him well on IGT
Ginnie Hart: Me neither, Ruthie. I do wish him well because he does have a message!
Well you fooled me, Ginnie, never take things for granted. Well done him.
Ginnie Hart: It's good to have moments of true and unadulterated surprise, Frank. They sometimes leave us in tears because of how they touch us at our core. This was such a moment for me. Thanks.

love, love your shot
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sherri.
i love the way that you presented this busker Ginnie...(surprise... surprise!)
he has a lot of Euros in his case so he must be that good....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: He clearly is able to sustain himself by buskering, Peter (and maybe some other side jobs?). He's also very good, which makes people stop and pay attention.
Bon anniversaire, Ginie !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Martine.
Joyeux anniversaire Ginnie , que ta journée soit belle !!!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine. It was, in every way!
