Tied Together
This ends my series from the Michigan cottage over our July 4th holiday weekend.
The lakewall at the beachfront is held together by railroad ties. It is symbolic for me of how our extended family is tied together. (This is for Astrid who would have seen this before she saw anything else!) [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

Love the symbolism of the image. This has wonderful depth and clarity.
Ginnie: Symbolism is often how I see things that are important to me, Red Pen. Thanks.
Great metaphor!! Love the simplicity of the image..and the message it portrays.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Marcie.
Ditto for me Ginnie, the symbolism hits me in the middle.
I am so loving your processing.
Ginnie: I feel lucky to touch anyone "in the middle," Maria.
Nicely done! I like the tones and DOF!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Martin!
Startling image, Ginnie...so strong in its focus, tonal qualities, and symbolism.
Ginnie: Symbolism has always been a "thing" for me, Ray, so thanks!
Beautiful shot and feelings.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir!
strong detail
good dof like your processing too
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, DrAW. Thanks.
An excellent capture, Ginnie and once again you've processed with a wonderful tone. I like your comparison to family. You have a wonderful treasure in that.
Ginnie: I do have a wonderful treasure in family, Sherri. And because it's a BIG family, which many people don't have, I feel lucky! Thanks.
Thank you mijn vriend, ja, ik zou dit zien en op de grond liggen om deze foto te maken, yes I would be flat out on the ground to take this picture.
'Tied together' Ginnie, this is symbolic, in two ways, the way how it ties together the bonds with the family and with me, 'railroads' we have been on many miles/KM of rail-road-tracks before we went on our hunts. Even the borders of a country does not stop us from being on these hunts together, we both went by train to Brussels, while walking there, we thought of how lucky we are to be there and walk there and see all the beauty.... Bedankt voor deze geweldige foto, I love the PP you did on it, the focus is fabulous, yes Ginnie, I am honoured with this picture, it is a likey to me, imagine this enlarged on a big wall of a railwaystation....
Ginnie: What is so funny about this, Astrid, is that I had this photo queued long before I knew we would be in Brussels yesterday with Donica. When I first spied this at the cottage, I immediately thought of you because that's what I see you going after with your camera when we're on photo hunts together. You're teaching me to see these "smaller" details...the things I usually miss when I'm getting the larger picture! Bedankt voor opening mijn ogen!
Great title for an excellent image.I like it Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Vintage!
I love the coulours Ginnie, that's really a great tone range.
Ginnie: Thanks for your kind words, Flo.
Ties are one of the most important things in life Ginnie, holding family and friends together.
Love the processing and agree with Astrid it would look great blown up(not literally)
Ginnie: You sure know how to make my day, Tracy. Thank you, mijn vriend!
Knowing you stand by me through good and bad
Makes all the difference in my life And day by day sweetheart I find These are the ties that bind The little things you do that please me so The way you always understand When simple joys bring peace of mind These are the ties that bind Don Williams
Ginnie: Fabulous and perfect, Bill. THANK YOU!
Love the detail, tones and dof, beautiful strong image Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank, Aussie. It really is a strong symbolism, isn't it!
I do like the crudeness of this plate and nails. The marks on its head from being struck. Very good, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Astrid is written all over this, isn't she, Chad!
awesome processing in to sepia. I am in my sepia period as well
Ginnie: I've been "in it" for a long time, Chantal.
I really like this one ...Well nailed oops apologies but i'm in holiday mentality
Ginnie: HA! I love your play on words, Richard!! Great pun. Thanks.
You have a tendency to see what others would not
Ginnie: You're very kind, Tolu. Thank you!
A very apt symbol for the ties that bind and perfect focusing. Love it.
Ingrid
Ginnie: The more I think about it, Ingrid, the more apt it becomes. Thank you!
i like the limited dof and the muted colour here.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Trotsky!
That's a sweet symbol, my dear.
Lots of love
Ginnie: Awwww. You know how to make my day, "Uncle Don!" Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting here.
Superbly composed and captured. The processing adds depth and the detail is fabulous.
Ginnie: You always make my day, Paul. Big smiles!
Nice detail Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Bernie.
Ginnie .. fantastic DOF
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
I like these huge spikes and plates linking the ties. The narrow plane of focus seem right on and the mild coloring just right. Fine image.
Ginnie: I think someone in the family had the great idea of doing this awhile back, Don, but I was not around when it happened. I think it was a great idea.
The lynchpin, as it were, of everything. Without which we'd all come apart! Love the symbolism, Ginnie!
Ginnie: I like that word, Alex: lynchpin! "Blessed be the tie that binds..." (I have just broken into singing!
I love the symbolism too!
Ginnie: I'm liking it more and more as the day goes on.
A beautiful black and white picture. Good property
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, KB, for stopping by and commenting!
Everything has been said, so all I can say is I love it!
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Pat!
Hey Ginnie, do you see any symbolism in two missing nails, and those two that remain being only half nailed?
Nah, I'm just teasing you. Good shot indeed. Haven't seen a closeup from you in a while. By now you probably noticed that I'm impartial to good closeups.
Ginnie: HA! Of course I see the symbolism of what's missing, Viktor...and also the symbolism of how everything doesn't have to be totally nailed down to make the "tie" hold fast!
I have watched Astrid do her macro shots time after time and have realized that we DO have a different way of seeing things. THIS time I saw through her eyes and had fun imagining a "different" perspective. Thanks, Viktor.
a fine observation and processing, combined with a deep symbolism and a declaration of vriendschap - a very nice gesture!
Ginnie: Yes, Philine. You know me!
Can`t disagree with anything already said. Great shot, Ginnie. (:o)
Ginnie: Thank a million, Roz.
LOvely shot Ginnie: big family?
Ginnie: Thanks, Chris, and OH YES! I come from a family of 8 kids, so you can imagine how many there are with 2 generations now "beneath" us!
what a great composition that is Ginnie, wonderful and certainly right about Astrid
Ginnie: I'm almost always right about Astrid, Tim!
I think they tried to hit that nail during last night's party. Steam ran out before it is properly in
Great picture with the diagonal.
Ginnie: HA! I'm sure you're right, Louis.
Again nice tones and symbolism
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Nigel.
Striking details! (no pun intended =P) I have seen many of these lately because the railroad runs all along the coast.
Ginnie: They do catch the eye, Brian! Thanks.
The funny thing about this one is that I used to work for a Civil Engineering firm, and we had a project in which we had to inspect rail road tracks: not exactly fun. I love your composition here and PP. It gives me a new perspective on that project. It's amazing how mundane things can be made so interesting: "Raised Spike". Great job
A fine detail!
Good detail, Ginnie. This series of photos has common that so pleasant desaturada tonality!
Love the detail shown here. And the story too. As usual...you keep making these great shots and my latest post is in fact a tribute to your way of shooting.
A very busy and crazy schedule makes it hard for me to keep up. Take care Ginnie...
Ginnie: You have greatly honored me, Fausto. You have made my day! Period! Thank you kindly.
